ABSTRACT

Clinicoendoscopic morphological and morphofunctional studies in 50 patients with chronic cholecystitis and 50 patients with chronic biliary pancreatitis have demonstrated that morphometric analysis of the antral stomach endocrine cells secreting melatonin, neurotensin and somatostatin can be used in addition to standard laboratory and device methods for differentiation chronic biliary pancreatitis with biliary pathology.

ABSTRACT

The workers demonstrated longer prothrombin and thrombin time showing activity of extrinsic coagulation mechanism, shorter activated partial thromboplastin time characterizing activity of intrinsic coagulation mechanism. There was no definite dependence of hemostasis parameters on age and length of service. Coagulation parameters with biochemical and hematologic studies could be used to detect hazardous influence of occupational factors on workers.

ABSTRACT

A new method for staining the electrophoregrams is described. After disk electrophoresis the gels are treated in a solution with 0.01-0.02% of aluminol stain, 0.0027-0.0108% of iron chloride (III), and 7% of acetic acid. The method has been employed in examinations of solid basalioma soluble proteins; the transferrin zone fraction has been virtually undetectable on the electrophoregram of this basalioma.

ABSTRACT

The effectiveness of remantadine, ribamide, and combination there of administered in aerosol on experimental influenza A/Aichi/2/68 virus infection in white mice was studied. Each of the drugs used alone was found to produce significant reduction in the mortality rate. Use of the drugs in combination both for therapeutic-prophylactic and for therapeutic purposes is of the additive nature, reducing the mortality of the animals by 50% as compared with the control group.

ABSTRACT

A comparative study of the interferon-inducing and anti-influenza activity of polyguacyl, an interferon inducer, given to human volunteers intranasally and as an aerosol, was carried out. The induction of endogenous interferon in the blood to 100-127 units/ml was observed only after intranasal administration of 5 mg polyguacyl. By both routes of administration the inducer did not diminish the implantation of the virus and development of postvaccination reactions in volunteers to intranasal administration of live influenza A (H1N1) vaccine.

ABSTRACT

A method for aerosol use of interferon inducer in laboratory animals employing an ultrasonic aerosol generator is described. Formules and a table of calculations of an inhalation dose of interferon inducer in solution when atomized in a chamber, as well as in the use of individual masks for monkeys are presented. The aerosol administration of interferon inducer (replicative from RNA of phage f2) was found to be effective in inducing interferon production in mice and monkeys. Prophylactic administration of the inducer 4 and 24 hours before inoculation protected from 50% to 75% of mice against a fatal influenza infection.
