ABSTRACT

Viscosity and sulfur dioxide levels are important factors to evaluate the changes of cell micro-environment because a series of diseases usually occur when they are abnormal. At present, dual-response probes that can detect both viscosity and sulfur dioxide are rare. Therefore, we developed a novel fluorescent probe CBN for simultaneous detection of sulfur dioxide and viscosity. Besides, probe CBN could target lysosome of which normal function will be disrupted by the abnormality of viscosity. Therefore, probe CBN has the potential to be served as an effective biological tool to monitor the intracellular micro-environment.

ABSTRACT

Objective To analyze the status quo and countermeasures of the development of Guangxi's private hospitals during the ongoing healthcare reform. Methods With the background of the healthcare reform, the current situation of private hospitals was analyzed based on data changes of the development of such hospitals in Guangxi during the 2011 -2015 period, for the purpose of proposing measures such as multiple supervision mechanism. Results During this period,74 private hospitals were founded in Guangxi. They have added 7 395 hospitals beds, served 1.41 million outpatient/emergency visits, and 220. 9 thousand inpatients, with 5 939 employees hired in the meantime. Given these achievements, development of these hospitals tended to be imbalanced and poorly regulated. Conclusions The healthcare reform has encouraged private involvement in medical practice and the growth of private hospitals in the region. In view of the problems as mentioned above, multiple supervision appears an effective solution.

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the scientific research performance of a third-grade maternal and child health hospital in Guangxi from 2007 to 2016,and to understand the situation of scientific research in past 10 years, and provide decision-making basis for strengthening the scientific research management of hospitals. Methods According to the statistical reports of the hospital's scientific research data,7 indexes were used to evaluate the quality of the scientific research performance of the hospital, and the close value method was used to evaluate the quality of the scientific research during 2007-2016.Results According to the Close-value method analysis, the overall quality of the scientific research performance showed a upward trend in recent ten years;according to the ranked order of the Close-value,the research performance of the institute in 2016 was the smallest while the quality of scientific research was the best.In 2009,the Institute's scientific research performance was the closest, however, the scientific research performance was the worst. Conclusions The result of comprehensive evaluation of Close-value method is consistent with the actual situation of scientific research in this hospital. It has reference significance for the evaluation of hospital scientific research quality.

ABSTRACT

Quality evaluation plays a vital role in ensuring safety and effectiveness of Chinese materia medica (CMM). Microscopic and morphological technologies can be used to distinguish CMM's characteristics, such as shape, size, texture, section, and smell, for authenticity and quality control of CMM. The microscopic and morphological applications of novel micro-technology, colorimeter, and texture analyzer for CMM identification are summarized and the future prospect is discussed in this paper. Various styles and complex sources of CMM are systemically reviewed, including cormophyte medicinal materials, fruit and seeds, pollen grain, and spore materials.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the relationship of serum levels of β-amyloid precursor protein (β-APP) with degree of traumatic brain injury (TBI) and the traumatic time. Methods Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were randomly divided into normal control and injury group. The rats in injury groups suffered from TBI after free-falling percussion with different pressure (wild-injury,moderate-injury and severe-injury group). Then serum was collected at 0.5 h,2 h,6 h,and 24 h and subject to β-APP detection by ELISA.All data were analyzed statistically with completely randomized design multiple factor repeated measure of variance analysis and least significant difference (LSD) test. Results The serum levels of β-APP were higher after injury. The serum levels of β-APP were significantly higher in moderate-injury or severe-injury group than those in normal group or slight-injury group (P<0.05).The serum levels of β-APP were higher in severe-injury group than that in moderate-injury group with no statistical difference (P>0.05).There was no statistical difference in serum β-APP levels between normal control and slight-injury group (P>0.05).Conclusion The serum level of P-APP is increasingly higher with traumatic brain injury more serious and could be employed as an indicator of TBI degree. It implies that β-APP has the potential as an early diagnosis marker for TBI.

ABSTRACT

@#ObjectiveTo explore the effects of hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) on severe brain injury. Methods60 patients with severe brain injury were divided into control group and treatment group. They were treated with neurosurgical conventional therapy, and HBO for treatment group in addition. They were assessed with Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) before and after treatment, and Glasgow Outcome Scale (GOS) 3 and 6 months after treatment. ResultsCompared with control group, there is significant improvement in GCS (P<0.05) and GOS (P<0.05) in treatment group. ConclusionHBO has immediate and long-term efficiency on severe brain injury.

ABSTRACT

An outbreak of highly virulent Chinese-type of Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome Virus (H-PRRSV) in most areas of China recently has led to huge economic losses and drawn great attention to its diagnosis and disease control. To facilitate rapid identification of H-PRRSV, a fluorogenic-probe hydrolysis (TaqMan)-reverse transcriptase PCR for H-PRRSV has been developed. Primers and probe specificity were evaluated with RNA extracted from 5 strains of H-PRRSV and 24 strains of other viruses, the results showed 100% specificity for the selected panel. The assay met the sensitivity of 1 50% tissue culture infective dose (TCID50) per ml of samples from infected pigs. Analysis with 10(5)-1TCID50/ml H-PRRSV samples demonstrated high reproducibility with a coefficient of variation (CV) of 0.5-2.5%. More than two hundred samples from lung, spleen, blood serum specimens obtained from 22 outbreaks of suspected H-PRRS from March to June in 2007 were verified using this assay. The results showed that 68.5% (146 out of 213) of these samples were positive which is 100% consistent with that of the sequencing method. The assay can be performed in less than 3h and thus provide a rapid method for the diagnosis of H-PRRSV as well as for elucidation of the epidemiology of H-PRRSV infections.
