ABSTRACT

Salt therapy (halotherapy) as a non-traditional method for the treatment of various pathological conditions has become an increasingly popular therapeutic modality in Russia and abroad. The Perm region houses one of the largest sylvinite-bearing potash deposits in the world. These salts are possessed of special physical and chemical properties of great value for the treatment of different diseases. The objective of the present work was to develop novel approaches to the application of sylvinite for the treatment and prevention of various diseases. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The subjects of investigations were the modern sylvinite constructions of different types. The study included a total of 195 patients who were randomly divided into two groups. The main group consisted of 50 patients presenting with allergic respiratory diseases, 20 ones with atopic dermatitis, and 21 with vulgar psoriasis. 31 patients had undergone aortocoronary bypass surgery in the preceding period. 49 pregnant women presented with a complicated course of pregnancy. 24 patients suffered from chronic generalized catarrhal gingivitis. The control group was comprised of 188 persons presenting with the same diseases (46, 30, 18, 20, 49, 25 patients in each of the above groups respectively) who received only the traditional pharmacotherapeutic treatment. All the patients underwent evaluation of the respiratory and cardiovascular functions. The clinical manifestations and the skin damage areas were estimated in the patients with atopic dermatitis and vulgar psoriasis. Blood circulation in placenta, the state of the periodontal tissues, and local immunity in the oral cavity mucosa, as well as the subjective psychological status were evaluated. The physical and chemical characteristics of the internal environment of the salt constructions (microclimatic factors, radiation, air ionization, salt aerosol content) were estimated. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: The data obtained provided a basis for the development and patenting of the methods for the treatment of atopic dermatitis, vulgar psoriasis, placental insufficiency, and chronic generalized catarrhal gingivitis based on the halotherapeutic modalities. CONCLUSION: The results of the long-term hygienic, physical and clinical investigations made it possible to identify the complex of curative factors inherent in the natural mineral sylvinite constructions. These factors are believed to create the optimal conditions for the efficient management of the patients presenting with dermatological, cardiological, obstetrical, and stomatological problems.

ABSTRACT

The performed comparative physiological-hygienic assessment of the conditions of the internal environment of salt sylvinite structures allowed to establish the complex of physical factors that have a favorable influence on the functional condition of the basic systems of the organism of patients.

ABSTRACT

A comprehensive examination and treatment of 49 students aged 20-25 years diagnosed chronic generalized catarrhal gingivitis (CGCG) were held. Depending on the methods of treatment were created into two groups of observation. The main group comprised 24 patients who along with dental sanitation and treatment of gingivitis took the course of salt treatment for 17 days, as opposed to control group. Hygienic researches and mineralthcrapy were held in a special room (23.6 m2). equipped with sylvite blocks with a total reaction surface 5 m2, salt filters with air ducts filled with wooden plates with mineral fragments. The study of the effectiveness of a comprehensive treatment of young patients with CGCG allowsto gel an information of the positive impact of salt therapyon the clinical condition of marginal periodontal tissues and indeces of oral cavity local immunity. The main curative factorsforming the internal environment of silvinite structures are multicomponent highly dispersed salt aerosol with a defined particle size and aeroionization. Natural salts complex consisting of chlorides of potassium, sodium and magnesium has an anti-inflammatory and immuno-modulating effects.

ABSTRACT

The article covers results of preventive measures in workers engaged into underground mining. Those measures are aimed to prevent occupationally mediated health disorders resulting in circulatory diseases. The prophylaxis was proven effective on premorbid condition--that was demonstrated in reliable decrease of cause-effect relationship intensity for health disorders in workers subjected to prophylactic measures. Transitory disablement morbidity due to cicrulatory system diseases decreased. Situational modelling of risk changes for the studied group demonstrated changes of diseases risk under medical prophylactic measures. After the prophylaxis, the risk demonstrated 3.1 times decrease.

ABSTRACT

The objective of the present study was to provide hygienic assessment of hospital wards equipped with the therapeutic sylvinite screens (TSS) and compare the results of the treatment of 80 patients suffering vulgar psoriasis with the use of TSS and without them. The sylvinite screens made it possible to create comfortable microenvironment in the wards and moderately increased the radiation background (0,15+/-0,005 Sv/hour) thereby promoting saturation of the ward atmosphere with aeroions dominated by the light negative particles (491,5+/-14,4 units/cm3). Such healthy environment hadc beneficial effect on the clinical course of the psoriatic process, the state of functional systems of the patients and their quality of life. It is concluded that the introduction of halotherapy in the treatment in patients presenting with vulgar psoriasis makes it possible to achieve clinical remission in 65% of them compared with 20% of the patients given the traditional treatment.

ABSTRACT

Ambient air in ground wards made to contain natural potassium-sodium salt is close in characteristics to the atmosphere of underground wards but has a number of specificities: daily fluctuations of concentrations of light aeroions and aerosol particles, elevated concentration of light aeroions concentration, low radiation background, minimal bacterial contamination. The stay in ground wards brings great benefit for patients with bronchial asthma. Ground speleo-climatic wards are perspective in nonpharmacological treatment of patients with allergic respiratory diseases.
