ABSTRACT
Se realizó un proyecto de investigación que responde a un diseño descriptivo y retrospectivo en el periodo comprendido desde el 1 de enero de 1994 hasta el 31 de diciembre del 2004 en los 440 pacientes que acudieron a los servicios de urgencias de las unidades asistenciales de este territorio, con el objetivo de analizar el comportamiento del Intento Suicida y su relación con el funcionamiento familiar. Se utilizaron los registros primarios estadísticos y la aplicación del test de funcionamiento familiar FF-SIL. Se concluyó que el Intento Suicida prevalece en pacientes de 20 a 29 años, del sexo femenino, con nivel escolar medio, los estudiantes, el estado civil soltero y con residencia urbana. Prevaleció como antecedente patológico personal los trastornos psiquiátricos depresivos y la presencia de Intentos Suicidas en los familiares, así como el método más empleado fue la ingestión de psicofármacos. Predominó la disfunción familiar en los pacientes con Intentos Suicidas. Se propone la realización de una intervención comunitaria en familias disfuncionales para disminuir la incidencia de este daño a la salud (AU)
It was carried out a project of investigation that responds to a retrospective and descriptive design in the period between January 1st, 1994 until December 31st, 2004 in the 440 patients that went to the urgency services of the care center units of this territory with the objective to analyze the behavior of the suicide attempt and its relation with the family functioning. The statistical primary registrations were used and the application of the family functioning test FF-SIL. It was concluded that the suicide attempt prevails in patients from 20 to 29 years, of female sex, with medium school level, the students, the single marital status and with urban residence. As personal pathological antecedent prevailed depressive psychiatric disorders and the presence of suicide attempts in the relatives and the most used method was the intake of mood-altering drugs. Family dysfunction predominated over the patients with suicide attempts. The execution of community intervention in dysfunctional families is proposed to diminish the incidence of this damage to the health
