ABSTRACT

The most common sites of prostate cancer metastases are lymph nodes, bones, lungs. The bladder is in 4th place in terms of the frequency of metastasis. We present a case of a rare single metastasis of prostate cancer to the bladder 8 years after the first diagnosis of prostate cancer T3N0M0. Patient A., 83 years old, complained of blood in the urine, frequent urination, nocturia. PSA level 5.4 ng / ml. During cystoscopy, a villous tumor on a broad base was totally resected. On histological examination, poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma 10 points according to Gleason (5 + 5).

ABSTRACT

The influence of deuterium depleted water with the modified isotope composition on an organism of animals is studied in physiological conditions and development of chronic endogenous intoxication of hepatorenal genesis. The influence of this water on isotope composition of plasma and tissues (the liver and kidneys) in laboratory animals is shown. The impact of this water on biochemical indicators (AST, ALT, alkaline phosphatase, creatinine, bilirubin) and dynamics in body weight of laboratory animals within 42 days is established. As a result of studies the possibility of the preventive use of deuterium depleted water for correction of metabolic processes is shown in various conditions of the functional system of the body's detoxification.

ABSTRACT

We evaluated possibilities of bone scintigraphy with 99mTc-methylendiphosphonate (99mTc-MDP) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in follow-up and prediction of effect in patients with extensive bone metastatic disease treated with betha-emitter 89SrCl2. 24 patients with prostate cancer and extensive metastatic involvement of skeleton were referred for the study. 89SrCl2 was injected as single injection of 150 MBq (4 mCi), in eighteen from Amersham plc., England, as Metastron, in six--from Medradiopreparat, Russia). In all patients bone scintigraphy with 99mTc-MDP and MRI study of metastatic regions were performed before and in 3 months after 89SrCl2 injection. Patients treated with Metsatron were also studied in 6 months after injection. Quantitative analysis of data comprised count and anatomic dimensions of metastatic areas and calculation of indices [metastasis/intact bone] both for scintillation count of 99mTc-MDP bone scans and signal intensity of T1-weighted MRI scan. Henceforth, we conclude the data of bone scanning with 99mTc-MDP and of MRI give evidencies for significant regress of bone metastases in patients treated with 89SrCl2 besides symptomatic suppression of pain syndrome. 99mTc-MDP bone scanning is also of predictive value for the prognosis of therapeutic effect of systemic radiotherapy with 89SrCl2 in prostate cancer.

ABSTRACT

Aiming to evaluate efficiency of 89SrCl (Metastron) in patients with metastatic lesion of the skeleton in prostate cancer we have performed a follow-up scintigraphy of the skeleton with 99mTc-methylendiphosphonate (MDP) and MRI with quantitative study of metastatic foci. 12 patients with prostate cancer (on the average 11 +/- 6 bone metastases were examined using scintigraphy of the skeleton with 99mTc-MDP and MRI study in T1, T2 and proton density modes. Investigations were performed before injected as a single dose of 150 MBq (4 mCi). At all the stages there was made a quantitative study of foci of pathological uptake of 99mTc-MDP compromising numbers of foci, focus parameters, intensity of 99mTc-MDP accumulation in the pathological part relatively the contralateral region as well as quantification of MRI signals from metastatic areas in signal intensity units. In 3 month 4 patients with extensive metastatic skeletal lesion (> 12) showed a considerable decrease of number of foci of pathological 99mTc-MDP uptake (on average to 6 +/- 3). In the remained metastatic foci there was noted a decrease of dimensions and 99mTc-MDP uptake intensity at an average by 29.8 +/- 15%, improvement in T1 intensity by 113 +/- 55.6 units. In 2 patients who initially presented a "superscan" pattern on 99mTc-MDP bone scintigraphy the 89SrCl treatment converted this of low intensity had demonstrated their complete regression. Results of radiologic follow-up of bone metastases in prostate cancer using MRI and bone scintigraphy with 99mTc-MDP argue that systemic radiotherapy with 89SrCl induces significant regress of metastatic process that involves all volume of the metastases.

ABSTRACT

The human "fingerprints" detected by the phage M13 DNA probe from 40 simple families with some presumably genetic malformations were observed. When only one parent had a specific band, the mean segregation frequency of all the electrophoretic bands detected was equal to 0.485, which confirmed the hypothesis about the Mendelian inheritance and high level of heterozygosity of hypervariable loci. The mean new measure of similarity between the parents calculated by Li C.C. was 0.54 (this measure within only fathers and only mothers was equal to the mean population level of similarity 0.41).

ABSTRACT

The frequencies of different electrophoretic bands in DNA "fingerprint" detected by the phage M13 DNA probe in six Russian populations from the Kirov district and Krasnodar, one from Chuvashia and one from Tuva were compared with each other and pseudo-genetic distances by Nei were calculated. The results corresponded well with a presumable extent of similarity between the populations observed.

ABSTRACT

The frequencies of different electrophoretic bands in DNA fingerprints detected by phage M13 DNA probe in two populations of the Kirov district were determined. The DNA polymorphisms observed in these two populations were compared with each other and with those of the Krasnodar populations, and pseudogenetic distances were calculated. The mean genetic distance between two Kirov populations was 0.072, this between every Kirov and Krasnodar population being 0.21 and 0.22.

ABSTRACT

Hypervariable "minisatellite" regions detected in human genome by wild-type phage M13 DNA were found to have high polymorphism and somatic stability. Analysis of individual specific patterns of hybridization of 44 human DNAs from the Kirov province is presented. Molecular weight of fragments varied from 2 to 6 kb. Mean frequency of a fragment in the population under study is p = 0.294 +/- 0.158. The mean number of fragments per individual is 11.6 +/- 1.8. Comparison between the Kirov population and that of Krasnodar studied earlier was carried out. The mean genetic distance between Kirov and Krasnodar populations calculated according to Nei is 0.2082. The possibility of using in population-genetic studies of hypervariable DNA markers having fingerprint type of hybridization is discussed.

ABSTRACT

Hypervariable "minisatellite" regions detected in human genome by wild-type M13 DNA were found to have high polymorphism and somatic stability. Analysis of individual specific patterns of 34 human DNAs from Krasnodar population is presented. The observed length of fragments ranged from 2 to 6 kb. The mean frequency of a fragment in the population under study is p = 0.247 +/- 0.171, the mean number of fragments per individual being x = 9.35 +/- 1.95. The mean probability of individual identification is calculated to be 1-2.10(-6) = 0.999998.
