ABSTRACT

An alternate method for the surgical correction of a rigid plantarflexed medial column is presented. Utilization of a transcuneiform osteotomy is employed as opposed to the commonly used dorsiflexory wedge osteotomy of the metatarsals. The authors feel that the described procedure facilitates a more consistent and stable correction of the deformity by the utilization of a single wedge osteotomy as opposed to the multiple metatarsal wedge osteotomies that are most commonly used.
