ABSTRACT

The results of analysis of elemental composition of human bone tissue by the method of laser mass spectrometry are published for the first time. This method makes it possible to detect about 20 elements of bone tissue at once. Quantitative analysis of 1 microgram/gram of an element contained in bone tissue is sufficient to diagnose of human medico-biological characteristics by this method.

ABSTRACT

The results of an experimental study dealing with the elementary composition of bone tissue by using the method of laser mass spectrometry are described in the paper. The method ensures the quantification of concentration values of all elements from the Mendeleev periodic table that can be made within an extensive dynamic range, which makes it promising in the forensic medical identification.

ABSTRACT

Laser mass spectrometric analysis of a biomedical sample was made on exposure to laser radiation at lambda 2 = 532 nm. The parameters of laser radiation and mass spectra were comparatively analyzed by using the basic and second harmonics of aluminum-yttrium-garnet-based laser. The sensitivity of laser mass spectrometry of biomedical samples is increased.

ABSTRACT

Several modifications of copper amalgams were examined. The findings evidence that of the amalgam constituents only copper passes into saliva, nutrient media, and animal body tissues and accumulates there. The findings of sanitary chemical and toxicologic studies helped select a hygienically optimal copper amalgam sample exerting no detrimental effects on the body.

ABSTRACT

Quantitative analyses of the whole microcomposition at a time without using the standards are shown to be realizable by the laser mass-spectrometry carried out on the domestic device EMAL-2. The techniques of sample preparation are simple and may be applied to analyze the wide range of medical and biological specimens. From the obtained results it is obvious that the mass-spectrometric method is useful in microanalyzing element compositions of medical and biological specimens.
