ABSTRACT

The work presents the data of complex clinical investigation and treatment of 371 patients with the syndrome of brain compression of traumatic etiology. Valid indications for using differentiated operative interventions have been developed and results of treatment of patients with intracranial hematomas, depressed fractures of the cranial bones inducing the symptoms of brain compression have been analyzed.

ABSTRACT

An analysis of 32 case histories of patients with gunshot wounds of the cervical part of the spine and spinal cord in combination with cranio-cerebral injuries is presented. In 11 patients with injuries of the spine and spinal cord it was shown that in 4 patients tetraplegia persisted in the postoperative period, 3 patients had Brown-Sequard syndrome, 1 patient had superior paraparesis, 3 patients had pelvis disorders. Rehabilitation procedures started as early as possible allow minimization of the neurological problems and, correspondingly, the degree of disability of the patients.

ABSTRACT

An analysis of work of neurosurgical service in Saint Petersburg for 2000 through 2006 has shown that the state of the system of organization of medical care needs reorganization and higher quality that can be realized by preferable hospitalization of such patients to specialized hospitals with successive treatment and observation of all stages of treatment and united medical strategy.
