ABSTRACT

Three new species of Eupogonius LeConte, 1852 (Desmiphorini) are described from Mexico: E. rifkindi sp. nov., from Colima and E. martinezi sp. nov. and E. pulcher sp. nov., from Nayarit. A new country record is provided for Eupogonius piperitus (Bates, 1885) and new country (Belize) and state (Mexico, Oaxaca) records are provided for Drycothaea spreta Bates, 1885 (Calliini). The differences between D. spreta and D. turrialbae (Breuning, 1943) are discussed. Additional new distribution records are presented for Canidia ochreostictica (Dillon, 1956) and Stenolis multimacula Monné, 2011 (Acanthocinini). In a recent paper by us, the repository acronyms listed under materials and methods do not match the repository acronym listed for the new species, the type repository for those four new species is clarified herein.

Photographs of the four primary types of species of Bisaltes (Bisaltes) at the Museu de Zoologia, Universidade de So Paulo are provided. The inclusion of Bisaltes venezuelensis in this genus is questioned. The difference between Bisaltes (Bisaltes) and Bisaltes (Craspedocerus) is discussed and questioned.

ABSTRACT

The knowledge of the family Cerambycidae (Coleoptera) from Mexico is updated based on the literature where records of species from Mexico have been published. In addition, Callimoxys sanguinicollis (Olivier, 1800), Laticranium mandibulareLane 1959, Bellamira scalaris(Say, 1826), and Strangalia opleri Linsley Chemsak, 1976 are recorded as new records for the country. A total of 1,836 species (including subspecies), 503 genera, 81 tribes, and seven subfamilies are recorded from Mexico. A complete checklist of taxa is provided.

ABSTRACT

A revision of the genus Pteroplatus Buquet, 1840 is presented. The genus and all known species are redescribed. Pteroplatus luculentus sp. nov., from Colombia and Ecuador, is described. The following six syn. nov. are proposed for Pteroplatus pulcher Buquet, 1840: Pteroplatus atroviolaceus Kirsch, 1889; Pteroplatus dimidiatipennis Buquet, 1841; Pteroplatus elegans Buquet, 1841; Pteroplatus fasciatus Buquet, 1841; Pteroplatus nigriventris Brême, 1845, and Pteroplatus transversalis Brême, 1845. The following two syn. nov. are proposed for Pteroplatus gracilis Buquet, 1840: Pteroplatus caudatus Martins Galileo, 2013 and Pteroplatus rostainei Buquet, 1840. The following two comb. nov. are proposed: Corynellus arrogans (Buquet, 1840) (Pteroplatini) and Cosmoplatidius bilineatus (Buquet, 1841) (Compsocerini). In addition, the following syn. nov. is proposed: Pteroplatus sellatus White, 1853 = Cosmoplatidius bilineatus (Buquet, 1841). The geographical distribution of four species is expanded. Photographs of Pteroplatus species are included and a key to differentiate the species is provided.

ABSTRACT

Santos-Silva et al. (2012) described Thomasella as a new genus of Rhinotragini to include a single species from Panama: Ommata (Eclipta) igniventris Giesbert, 1991. However, Thomasella is a junior homonym of Thomasella Fredericks, 1928 (Brachiopoda). To resolve this homonym, in accordance with the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature, we are proposing Neothomasella as a new replacement name (nomen novum) for Thomasella Santos-Silva et al. (2012). The new name is a compound of the prefix "neo-" (from Greek νεο-, meaning "new") + Thomasella; feminine gender.
