ABSTRACT

The phylogenetic relationships established in the family Allocreadiidae by genetic methods suggest that the center of origin, distribution, and divergence of the studied family is, apparently, eastern regions of Laurasia (the territory of the modern Southeast Asia), from where these trematodes penetrated through the Amur paleomicrocontinent and Beringia to North America and further through Central America to South, as well as through Transbaikalia and Yakutia to the western part of Eurasia.

ABSTRACT

Progressive expansion of the most hazardous human parasitoses caused by trematodes, cestodes and nematodes has been found on the south of the Russian Far East. Decelerating expansion of the trematode Clonorchis sinensis, an agent of clonorchiasis towards the southern Primorye Territory from the Amur River basin, that began 10-15 years ago, was revealed. A prognosis was made on the activation of the natural foci of clonorchiasis and paragonimiasis. Circulation possibilities are discussed of the highly pathogenic trematode Pagonimus heterotremusar in the South Asian regional ecosystems. Our experiments showed that the freshwater gastropods of the Parajuga genus from the Amur River basin and those of Stenothyra genus from Primorsky Territory were resistant to this trematode infection. Nevertheless, this does not exclude the possibility of this parasite penetration into the Far East region via infection of the local gastropods of other genera.

ABSTRACT

Five genetically distant groups of mussels possessing high intragroup homogeneity were identified among 65 specimens of 14 East European Unionidae "comparatory species" by genetic analysis of nuclear and mitochondrial markers. By shell morphology other than the shape of the convex contour of the shell, the identified groups correspond to five "taxonomic species" according to Zhadin's classification. The use of the comparatory method for Unionidae species identification is unjustified.

ABSTRACT

The potential role of viruses with oncogenic potential such as human papilloma virus, cytomegalovirus, Epstein-Barr virus, herpes simplex virus type 1 and 2, herpes virus type 6, in the development of benign and pre-cancerous tumors of maxillofacial region was assessed in the study. We examined 26 patients with tumors in maxillofacial region (skin and mucosa) using molecular-genetic and histological studies of surgically removed neoplasms removed. In 53.8% of the examined samples DNA of Epstein-Barr virus, herpes virus type 6, herpes simplex virus type 1, or cytomegalovirus and in 35.7% of them the association of the above mentioned viruses were detected. It may confirm their relation with the development of benign, precancerous and malignant neoplasms in maxillofacial region.

ABSTRACT

The composition of the microflora in three biotopes of the oral cavity was examined in 36 patients with tongue carcinoma before chemotherapy, one - two weeks after two courses of chemotherapy and before gemiglosseklomiya. The oral dysbiosis was revealed in patients before antitumor therapy. The opportunistic and pathogenic bacteria in concentration more than 4 lg CFU/cm² were dominant in microbiocenosis of oral cavity. Most of the isolated microorganisms were capable of maintaining the inflammatory process by secreting oral enzymes and toxins. The microflora formed normobiocenosis in oral cavity after two courses of chemotherapy. The pathogenic potential of selected microflora in patients after preoperative radiotherapy before surgery was more pronounced than the microflora of healthy people, and also in patients prior to treatment. Dysbiosis of III degree was detected in oral cavity of patients with tongue carcinoma before gemiglosseklomiya. requiring correction for the prevention the postoperative complications.

ABSTRACT

It is shown that the contours of the frontal sections of valves in shells of different size of the same species run through different parts of the valve. A new modification of the comparator method is proposed, which allows studying the shape of the maximum convex contour of the cross-section of the shell.

ABSTRACT

The study assessed the correlation of red blood cells structural and functional disorders as a result of tissue metabolism changes and accumulation of final and intermediate metabolic products in association with microbial toxins, as well as changes of plasma general antioxidation capacities with clinical manifestations and degree of endogenous intoxication syndrome in patients with widespread phlegmons of maxillofacial area. The red blood cell structure served as an indicator of all biological membranes condition. The correction of red blood cells structure was achieved by administration of membranoprotective antioxidants.

ABSTRACT

In experimental (120 white rats) and clinical studies (58 patients with cancer of tongue) clinico-morfologich comparison of methods of glossectomy was conducted by electrosurgical setting and semiconductor laser surgical vehicle. During the study information showing high efficiency of the use of laser surgical vehicle, from position of cicatrization of post-resection wound, on the surgical stage of treatment of patients by the cancer of tongue was received.

ABSTRACT

489 cases of references concerning the bitten wounds of maxillofacial area for the period of 1998-2008 were analysed. The analysis has shown that 77 (15,7%) cases with localization of the bitten wounds on fase had long, serious functional - aesthetic infringements, and the majority of cultural and life conditions questions, analyzed behavioural aspects of the population of the Tver region, remained unresolved actual problem.

ABSTRACT

Results are presented on treatment of 68 patients with acute suppurative periostitis of maxillofacial region. After surgical interventions in patients of the study group (48 patients) the wounds were cleansed by 1% chitosan on 0.2% HC1 in combination with methylene blue and irradiated by IR laser beam. The wounds healed in 2-3 days. In the control group (20 patients) for wound dressing chlorhexidine as a standard procedure was used, length of the healing process was 5-6 days. After combined treatment the number of microflora in the wound was reduced and microflora did not show the signs of pathogenicity.

ABSTRACT

UNLABELLED: Surgical treatment of the patients with the lower lid defects are actual part of the maxillofacial surgeon's practice. Among different methods of treatment there are pedicle flaps, free skin flaps, tunnel flaps and hinged flaps, the latter are not widely used. However, as the study proved, hinded flaps have incontestable advantage and using it one can greatly widen their possibilities and improve plastic operations' RESULTS: The authors made an attempt to appreciate comparatively of the effectiveness of the various methods of the lower lid defects replacement.

ABSTRACT

The authors suggest a new method for treatment of mandibular fractures. This method consists in insertion of implants (19 mm long, 1.8 mm thick) made of medical stainless steel into the bone, repositioning of fragments, and subsequent fixation by intermaxillary traction. The study showed that this method is more physiological, causes less side effects, and requires shorter hospital stay in comparison with the traditional treatment.

ABSTRACT

The incidence of malignant tumors of the buccal mucosa and stages of carcinoma were analyzed in 565 primary patients for a period of 10 years. The study showed social and organization problems in the disease diagnosis: refusal of patients from medical consultation, unjustified omitting of examination of the oral cavity aimed at cancer detection during preventive examinations of the population and treatment of odontogenic diseases, erroneous interpretation of pathological changes in the buccal mucosa, unjustified long observation and treatment by non-oncological specialists, incompetence of physicians, etc. Approaches to optimization of diagnosis are outlined: improvement of the efficiency of preventive examinations by non-oncological specialists, specialized upgrading of dentists and increase of their professional responsibility, and early use of morphological methods of examination of pathological processes in the buccal mucosa.
