ABSTRACT

A case of ureteral obstruction from bypass surgery is presented with review of the literature. A pathogenesis for the obstruction has been suggested and specific treatment recommended. More importantly, however, a plea is made to place the ureter anterior to the graft and to study the patient both pre- and postoperatively to prevent obstruction of the ureter in these patients.

ABSTRACT

A report of a cystadenocarcinoma of the pancreas arising in the spleen from pancreatic heterotopia is presented. The fact that the resected pancreatic tail was microscopically normal and separate from the tumor lends strong support that the tumor arose from pancreatic heterotopia rather than from direct extension or metastasis.

ABSTRACT

Three cases of large abdominal defects that were successfully closed with reflected fascial flaps from contiguous fascia have been presented. In each case the defect was repaired without evidence of breakdown or compromise of the blood supply. No disability was detected at the donor site. This procedure is recommended in conditions where rigid fixed borders are present and potential infection is feared.
