ABSTRACT

A comparative analysis of complex survey of 67 patients with generalized periodontitis was carried out. In comparing different biological diagnostic media: in the peripheral blood (plasma and red blood cells), in the leachate content of periodontal pockets (PP) and a secret glandula Parotis, determined unidirectional imbalance of fatty acid spectrum (FA) due to excessive accumulation of saturated (LCD, NLC) and reduction in an amount of unsaturated (UFA) and polyunsaturated (PUFA) was defined, regardless of the disease course. Differential diagnostic and prognostic test in complex study of LCD spectrum is an excess oxidation of arachidonic acid (AA) in PP and plasma levels on the background of the identified imbalance, with significant reduction in accumulation of AK by 25% in erythrocyte membranes and the filtrate PC, which characterizes the change in plasticity and permeability of cell membranes, which affects their functional activity.

ABSTRACT

The paper gives the results of a comparative assessment of gas chromatographic analysis of plasma and peripheral erythrocyte lipids in patients with the metabolic syndrome (MS). The established changes in the fatty-acid composition of erythrocyte and plasma lipids in patients with MS substantiate the prospects for using this technique in the diagnosis of lipid metabolic disturbances.

ABSTRACT

Our objective in this paper was to study diagnostic specificities of the skin secretion lipids fattyacid composition (FAC) in the precardiac region of patients with ischemic heart disease (IHD). Overall ninety two IHD patients who ranged from 34 to 78 years were examined together with fifteen clinically healthy persons. Used in the study were the gas-liquid chromatography techniques. The secured results suggested to us changes in the precardiac region skin lipids FAC in IHD. During the stage of compensation of coronary circulation the secretion of palmitic and docozohexaenic acids was found to have gotten diminished while that of saturated acids was augmented. This suggests to us a positive role of the skin, its negative role being in an increased secretion of monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA), decreased secretion of representatives of omega-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA). During the stage of decompensation the skin has predominantly a negative part (increased secretion of MUFA, docozohexaenic acids, decreased secretion of omega-6PUFA).

ABSTRACT

The paper focuses on the membrane lipid complex status and lymphocyte metabolic activity in IHD patients to elaborate new approaches toward treatment and prevention of immune disorders in the above pathology. The study was made in blood specimens from 53 coronary patients presenting with progressive unstable angina. The diagnosis was made on the basis of a complex clinical-and-laboratory and electrocardiographic evaluation. The composition of the lymphocyte membrane lipid complex and blood serum was studied with the aid of the gas chromatography techniques. Three variants were identified of change in the lipid composition of lymphocyte membranes in IHD patients having undergone the above evaluation. We consider it expediant to use criteria for the state of lymphocyte membranes in IHD patients in order that we might properly deal with issues concerning diagnosis, prognosis and selection of optimum pathogenetic therapy of the medical condition in question.

ABSTRACT

Higher fatty acids of low- and high-density lipoprotein lipids are analyzed by gas chromatography in patients with chronic diseases of the liver (chronic cholecystitis, cholelithiasis, chronic hepatitis, and cirrhosis of the liver). The results recommend the fatty acid composition of serum lipoprotein lipids as an informative characteristic in evaluation of lipid metabolism disorders in the liver.

ABSTRACT

Lipid fatty-acid composition was determined as was the level of free cholesterol in serum and red cells of venous and arterial blood in patients with myocardial infarction presenting with certain complications. The most significant changes in fatty-acid composition of blood serum lipids were in pulmonary edema and pneumonia, with those in the cell lipid complex being recordable in cardiogenic shock and ventricular fibrillation. Fatty-acid composition of the arterial blood lipids is more balanced compared to the venous blood in pulmonary edema, cardiogenic shock, ventricular fibrillation; the opposite tendency is observed during the development of pneumonia.

ABSTRACT

Results are submitted of the gas-chromatographic analysis of sweat lipids higher fatty acids (FA) spectrum in patients with different skin diseases. Polyunsaturated FA were found to be on the decrease at the expense of linoleic FA. Arachidonic FA tended to be on the increase. The gas-chromatographic analysis will, we believe, help in assessing disturbed bodily lipid metabolism.

ABSTRACT

Fatty-acid composition was determined of blood lipids, the expired air condensate, sweat, and lung tissue in uncomplicated myocardial infarction and development of acute left ventricular insufficiency and ventricular fibrillation. While comparing the results obtained it was found out that the most manifest changes in the fatty-acid composition of lipids occur in erythrocytes, the expired air condensate, and sweat in complicated course of myocardial infarction. Unlike blood serum, the expired air condensate, and sweat, erythrocytes reveal heterodirectional changes in the content of saturated and unsaturated acids. The same tendency has been noted in lung tissue in ventricular fibrillation.

ABSTRACT

Results are submitted of a gas-chromatographic analysis of FA in the blood and eliminate from the eyes of patients with AC. Similarity was found out of changes in the content of PNFA in these biological objects. It is therefore justifiable to use electroeliminate, a new noninvasive biological object, in a clinical setting to assess abnormalities of lipid metabolism in the eye in AC.

ABSTRACT

Fatty-acid composition of lipids was studied by gas chromatography techniques as was the level of free cholesterol in high- and low-density lipoproteins in 15 patients with chronic hepatitis and 15 hepatocirrhotic patients. Significant changes in fatty-acid spectrum were recordable suggesting activation of the process of lipid peroxidation. The above changes were at their greatest in patients with hepatocirrhosis.

ABSTRACT

In experiment on muscle flaps of 20 rabbits the peculiarities of their tissues damage in the ischemia period, and also due to the oxygen-dependent processes activation (peroxidal and free radical oxidation of a membrane phospholipids) in period of its reperfusion were studied. Preliminary introduction of a lipin, unitiol and ascorbic acid mixture in the flap arterial channel had promoted the reduction of damage severity in the translocated flap cells biomembranes due to ischemia and reperfusion, causing inhibition of the lipids peroxidal oxidation processes, rising of the flap tissues antioxidant defense, the cell and subcell membranes stabilization which preserves the vessels endothelium integrity. This showed a promising future for application of these preparations in a free transplantation of compound tissue complexes.

ABSTRACT

Fatty-acid composition of lipids was determined as was activity of lipid peroxidation and lung tissue content of neutral fats and phospholipids in myocardial infarction during the acute phase of the course of the disease using gas-chromatographic, biochemical, and morphological techniques. Lung tissue in myocardial infarction was found out to accumulate neutral fats. Also recordable in lung tissue was redistribution of phospholipids, with the interalveolar septa structures getting reduced, which fact is accompanied by changes in fatty acid composition of lipids together with activation of lipid peroxidation processes.
