The authors describe the results of the appraisal of the podagra diagnostic criteria developed by the researchers of the USSR and Hungarian People's Republic at the Institute of Rheumatology, Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR. Present the data obtained during the examination of 500 patients. According to the materials of both countries' researchers the accuracy of podagra recognition amounts to 99% in the group of podagra patients and to 94.6% in the group of patients afflicated with diseases similar to podagra.

A comprehensive study of the data on 372 patients with osteoarthrosis deformans detected at epidemiological examination of the population of Nebit-Dag, the Turkmen SSR, showed that most of these patients were not followed-up. An analysis of the symptomatology in the patients of the epidemiological group confirmed a possibility of the unified diagnostics of this diseases using standard criteria proposed for mass screening at the Institute of Rheumatology, AMS USSR.
