ABSTRACT

Tonographic studies of 18 patients with artiphakia and aphakia and rheo-ophthalmographic examinations of 36 patients with artiphakia after YAG laser discission of opaque posterior capsule of the lens have revealed significant impairment of ocular hydrodynamics, most manifest in the first hours postoperation, persisting for 24 hrs on an average. In patients, whose rheographic values were within the normal age-specific range, a marked RQ reduction 3-4 hrs postoperation was observed, still present in 24 hrs. No changes in the ocular hemodynamics were detectable in patients with initially lowered rheographic coefficient. Problems concerning the relationships between ocular hydro- and hemodynamics in reactive hypertension are discussed.

ABSTRACT

Rheo-ophthalmography has been employed in examinations of the hemodynamics in 42 patients with proliferative diabetic retinopathy, aged 21 to 78; in 16 of these patients with sufficiently transparent media the fundus oculi has been examined by fluorescent angiography. The examinations have revealed an impaired hemodynamic balance, manifesting by a low rheographic coefficient (1.55 +/- 0.12%) and a considerably longer time of the venous circulation (18.8 +/- 0.5 s). Vitrectomy not only removes neovascularization, proliferates, and changed vitreous, but also normalizes the hemodynamic parameters at the expense of shortening the venous system and removing the venous congestion.

ABSTRACT

From the standpoint of traditional neurology an attempt has been made to evaluate the function of the cerebral structures in 50 children with vegetovascular dystonia and 30 normal ones. On the basis of the data obtained a working hypothesis is advanced about a special role of the defect in the right cerebral hemisphere in the pathogenetic mechanisms of hypertension in the presence of vegetovascular dystonia.

ABSTRACT

The recovery velocity of the acido-alkaline state of the intraocular fluid depended upon the ocular hemodynamics in the rabbit intraocular chamber. Oppressive action of hyperoxia and substitute hypocapnia on intraocular blood circulation was revealed. The RQ reduction described in some eye diseases and after intraocular operations can be connected with changes in gaseous composition of the intraocular fluid.
