ABSTRACT

The authors analyze the problem of prophylaxis of chronic paraproctitis (rectum fistulas). One of its links is the correct understanding of etiology and treatment of recurring pararectal abscesses. This form of inflammation with recurring abscesses without fistulas in the stage of remission is considered to be chronical. The authors propose to name it the chronic recurring paraproctitis. The experience with the treatment of 202 patients showed the usual opening the abscess to be not radical. To prevent further recurrings it is necessary to eliminate the altered crypt and the latent infection in the scar tissues. A two-step operation was used with the displacement of the mucous coat. Radical operations were made on 119 patients. All of them showed complete recovery.

ABSTRACT

Under consideration is the classification of internal anal fistulas and indications to the corresponding methods of operation. The authors describe the techniques of their operations. The observations were performed of 81 patients with internal anal fistulas. The analysis of late results of the treatment of 58 fistulas shows that the used methods are effective and do not disturb the anal constrictor function.

ABSTRACT

Assays were made of blood serum proteins, final nitrogen products of urine and faeces in 115 patients with colonic cancer and in 19 patients with polyposis. The nitrogen balance was studied in 59 rectal cancer patients prior to and after the operation. In a group of patients with the malignant tumor the endogenic protein hyperexcretion was found as well as a reduced serum proteins level and an associated dependence of hypoproteinemia on the degree of their loss with faeces. A negative nitrogen balance was noted in patients with cancer. Surgical intervention, purulent infection may aggravate this condition. The radical treatment of colonic cancer results in a gradual normalization of nitrogen-protein metabolism.

ABSTRACT

The paper deals with a newly developed effective method of the treatment of horseshoe fistulae, which was successfully applied in 110 patients. This method is distinguished for its low traumatic effect. The closure of the internal opening is carried out by means of the plasty with a wide layer of the mucous membrane displaced laterally.
