ABSTRACT

The authors consider one of the key questions of modern neurotraumatology, namely, pathogenetic mechanisms of damage to peripheral nerves. On the basis of examining 66 patients the authors suggest that along with direct damage to nerves tunnel mechanisms play a major role in the pathogenesis of their damage. Different tunnel syndromes are described. The treatment is largely based on intratunnel novocain-hydrocortisone blocking in combination with other methods such as electrophoresis with lydasa and potassium iodide, barotherapy and drug therapy.
