ABSTRACT

Intradural diskal herniation is a very rare condition, particularly in the cervical region, with few reports in the literature. A case is described of a young man who developed transient quadriparesia immediately after a car accident. Three months later when bending his neck he suddenly experienced a sense of numbness and vibration over his whole body; this sense reappeared every time he bent his neck. Myelography disclosed an extensive ventral extradural cervical defect. An operation was performed anteriorly with removal of the C-4 vertebral body and adjacent disks, disclosing an extruded disk in the extradural and intradural spaces.

ABSTRACT

Sexual impotence is common in patients with basilar impression and/or Arnold-Chiari malformation. There is no evidence of hypogonadism and testicular biopsy is usually normal. An autonomic disturbance is postulated.
