ABSTRACT

A case is presented of a pediatric patient with Turner syndrome. The presence of multiple carious teeth, a cardiovascular abnormality and the need for prophylactic antibiotics necessitated full mouth dental rehabilitation with the use of general anesthesia. Medical and dental complications, as well as options, are discussed.

ABSTRACT

A patient with von Willebrand's disease presenting for dental treatment requires thorough evaluation prior to the determination of a proper course of treatment. In this case report, a patient with von Willebrand's disease presented to the emergency room with dental trauma. A modified treatment plan, taking into account the severity of the patient's systemic illness and the need for medical management, yielded successful results.

ABSTRACT

A case report of bilateral eruption sequestra was presented. The eruption sequestrum must be included in the differential diagnosis of pain during eruption. Although previously thought to have little clinical significance, the eruption sequestrum may retain plaque in close association with the newly erupting tooth. The retained eruption sequestrum may lead to pericoronitis or pit and fissure caries. While many spontaneously resorb or exfoliate, some, as in this case, may need surgical removal.

ABSTRACT

Epidermolysis bullosa presents a wide range of clinical symptoms. In this case, a patient had recessive dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa that required dental treatment. Standard protocol modifications and medical considerations were required in preparation for general anesthesia. Postoperative follow-up, including monitoring the relationship of the patient's disease state to dental health, is recommended.

ABSTRACT

This paper presents a variety of cases in which very early loss of abscessed primary molars caused early eruption of the permanent successors. Clinical sequelae including ectopic eruption, alteration of eruption sequence, arch-length inadequacy and tooth impaction are illustrated by five case reports.
