ABSTRACT

This paper introduces the Fish 3D Locomotion app (F3LA), a Python-based, Graphical User Interface (GUI)-equipped tool designed to automate behavioral endpoint extraction in zebrafish locomotion assays. Building on our previous work, which utilized a specialized aquatic tank with a mirror and a single camera for fish movement tracking in three dimensions, F3LA significantly enhances data processing efficiency. Its accuracy was tested by reanalyzing and comprehensively comparing the calculated data with the previously published data from prior publications. From the comparison results, 90% of endpoints showed a similar statistical difference result. These minor differences were due to the different starting points for the dataset and updated calculation formulas that are implemented in F3LA. In addition, shoaling area or shoaling volume calculations are also included in F3LA as a new feature that can serve as sensitive indicators of social cohesion, group dynamics, or stress responses, offering insights into neuropsychological conditions or the effects of pharmacological interventions. Furthermore, F3LA offers a marked improvement over manual operations, being at least five times faster, while maintaining consistent accuracy as it reduces human-induced errors, ensuring a higher degree of reliability in the results. Finally, the potency of F3LA was tested to evaluate the toxicities of 14 rare earth elements (REEs) to the adult zebrafish behaviors. Based on the results, our findings suggested that each tested REE altered fish behaviors in different patterns and magnitudes to each other. However, among the tested light rare earth elements (LREEs), neodymium was demonstrated to cause more relatively severe behavior alterations than other LREEs, indicated by the statistically higher value of entropy (0.2695 ± 0.04977 (mean with a standard deviation)) than the control group (0.2352 ± 0.05896). Meanwhile, in terms of heavy rare earth elements (HREEs), erbium seemed to lead to more distinct behavior toxicities than other HREEs, which was shown by the statistically lower level of fractal dimension (2.022 ± 0.3412) than the untreated group (2.255 ± 0.1661). Taken together, F3LA's development marks a significant advance in high-throughput toxicological and pharmacological assessments in zebrafish, leveraging three-dimensional locomotion data for a more comprehensive analysis of fish behavior performance, providing a significant contribution to research in various fields.

ABSTRACT

Electrochemical CO2 reduction (ECR) to value-added products such as formate/formic acid is a promising approach for CO2 mitigation. Practical ECR requires long-term stability at industrially relevant reduction rates, which is challenging due to the rapid degradation of most catalysts at high current densities. Herein, we report the development of a bismuth (Bi) gas diffusion electrode on a polytetrafluoroethylene-based electrically conductive silver (Ag) substrate (Ag@Bi), which exhibits high Faradaic efficiency (FE) for formate of over 90 % in 1 M KOH and 1 M KHCO3 electrolytes. The catalyst also shows high selectivity of formic acid above 85 % in 1 M NaCl catholyte, which has a bulk pH of 2-3 during ECR, at current densities up to 300 mA cm-2. In 1 M KHCO3 condition, Ag@Bi maintains formate FE above 90 % for at least 500 hours at the current density of 100 mA cm-2. We found that the Ag@Bi catalyst degrades over time due to the leaching of Bi in the NaCl catholyte. To overcome this challenge, we deposited a layer of Ag nanoparticles on the surface of Ag@Bi to form a multi-layer Ag@Bi/Ag catalyst. This designed catalyst exhibits 300 hours of stability with FE for formic acid ≥70 % at 100 mA cm-2. Our work establishes a new strategy for achieving the operational longevity of ECR under wide pH conditions, which is critical for practical applications.

ABSTRACT

Objectives: Our goal was to describe Invasive Meningococcal Disease (IMD) in Southern Vietnam over the last 10 years. We characterized 109 Neisseria meningitidis strains in Southern Vietnam isolated between 1980s to 2021, that were collected from IMD (n = 44), sexually transmitted infections (n = 2), and healthy carriage (n = 63). Methods: IMD were confirmed by bacterial culture and/or real-time polymerase chain reaction at the national reference laboratory in Pasteur Institute of Ho Chi Minh City (PIHCM). Antimicrobial resistance was determined on 31 IMD and two sexually transmitted infection isolates with E-test for chloramphenicol (CHL), penicillin (PEN), ciprofloxacin (CIP), ceftriaxone (CRO), and rifampicin (RIF). Sequencing was performed for analyzing of multilocus-sequence-typing (MLST), porA, fetA, and antibiotic resistance genes, including gyrA, penA, and rpoB. Results: The incidence rate during this period was 0.02 per 100,000 persons/year. Serogroup B accounted for over 90% of cases (50/54). ST-1576 were mainly responsible for IMD, 27/42 MLST profiles, and associated with CHL resistance. Resistance was prevalent among IMD isolates. Thirteen were resistant to CHL (minimum inhibitory concentration [MIC] ≥16 mg/l), 12 were intermediate to PEN (MIC between 0.19 and 0.5 mg/l), and five were CIP-resistant (MIC between 0.19 and 0.5 mg/l). Particularly, one was non-susceptible to CRO (MIC at 0.125 mg/l), belonging to ST-5571 lineage. The resistance was due to carrying resistant alleles of penA and gyrA genes, and catP gene. Notably, seven isolates were resistant/non-susceptible to two or more antibiotics. Conclusion: Our results suggest the persistence of the circulating ST-1576 in Southern Vietnam, with a spread of antimicrobial resistance across the community.

INTRODUCTION: Premature ejaculation (PE) is a prevalent sexual dysfunction in men that greatly affects their quality of life. In PE, the duration of sexual performance is considered an important aspect. However, a self-estimated value of intravaginal ejaculation latency time (perceived IELT, PIELT) as a criterion for diagnosis has not been specified. AIM: This study aimed to determine the validity and a threshold value for PIELT in PE diagnosis. METHOD: In our cross-sectional study, we recruited 550 men from March 2019 to January 2020 and interviewed them regarding their general demographic characteristics, sexual habits, PIELT and completed a premature ejaculation diagnostic tool (PEDT) questionnaire. Eventually, a combination of a clinical diagnosis and PEDT score was used, in which those with PEDT ≥ 11 and diagnosed with possible PE were assigned to the final PE(+) group; those with PEDT score ≤ 8 and diagnosed with no PE were included in the final PE(-) group. RESULTS: Men PE(-) had more frequent sexual intercourse (9.74 ± 5.38 vs. 6.69 ± 5.38 episodes per month, p < 0.001) and had higher marriage rate (72.7% vs. 60.4%, p = 0.002) than PE(+) patients. No significant difference was noted regarding age, smoking habit, age of first sexual experience, and number of sexual partners between the two groups. The mean PIELT of control subjects and PE(+) patients were 11.69 ± 6.83 min and 2.01 ± 1.21 min, respectively. On receiver operating characteristic curve analysis, the cut-off value of PIELT of 3.75 min can be used to distinguish PE men (area under the curve = 0.982, sensitivity/specificity = 0.961/0.909), which means that men with a PIELT ≤ 3.5 min is suggestive of PE. CONCLUSION: The impact of PE is dramatic both from a social and a personal perspective. PE(+) patients married significantly less and have significantly lower sexual activity compared to a PE(-) population. Furthermore, a PIELT of ≤ 3.5 min predicts PE demonstrating the need to revise its taxonomy and definition.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Since its beginnings in 2019, the COVID-19 pandemic is still a problem of global medical concern. Southern Vietnam is one of the country's vast regions, including 20 provinces and the densely populated metropolis Ho Chi Minh City. A randomized retrospective study was performed to investigate the epidemiology and genetic diversity of COVID-19. Whole-genome sequencing of 126 SARS-CoV-2 samples collected from Southern Vietnam between January 2020 and December 2021 revealed the main circulating variants and their distribution. METHODS: Epidemiological data were obtained from the Department of Preventive Medicine of the Vietnamese Ministry of Health. To identify circulating variants, RNA, extracted from 126 nasopharyngeal swabs of patients with suspected COVID-19 were sequenced on Illunina MiSeq to obtain near complete genomes SARS-CoV-2. RESULTS: Due to the effectiveness of restrictive measures in Vietnam, it was possible to keep incidence at a low level. The partial relaxation of restrictive measures, and the spread of Delta lineages, contributed to the beginning of a logarithmic increase in incidence. Lineages 20A-H circulated in Southern Vietnam during 2020. Spread of the Delta lineage in Southern Vietnam began in March 2021, causing a logarithmic rise in the number of COVID-19 cases. CONCLUSIONS: Pandemic dynamics in Southern Vietnam feature specific variations in incidence, and these reflect the success of the restrictive measures put in place during the early stages of the pandemic.

ABSTRACT

Daphnia magna is one species of water flea that has been used for a long time for ecotoxicity studies. In addition, Daphnia has a myogenic heart that is very useful for cardiotoxicity studies. Previous attempts to calculate the cardiac parameter endpoints in Daphnia suffer from the drawback of tedious operation and high variation due to manual counting errors. Even the previous method that utilized deep learning to help the process suffer from either overestimation of parameters or the need for specialized equipment to perform the analysis. In this study, we utilized DeepLabCut software previously used for animal pose tracking and demonstrated that ResNet_152 was the best fit for training the network. The trained network also showed comparable results with ImageJ and Kymograph, which was mostly done manually. In addition to that, several macro scripts in either Excel or Python format were developed to help summarize the data for faster analysis. The trained network was then challenged to analyze the potential cardiotoxicity of imidacloprid and pendimethalin in D. magna, and it showed that both pesticides cause alteration in their cardiac performance. Overall, this method provides a simple and automatic method to analyze the cardiac performance of Daphnia by utilizing DeepLabCut. The method proposed in this paper can contribute greatly to scientists conducting fast and accurate cardiotoxicity measurements when using Daphnia as a model.

ABSTRACT

The freshwater crayfish, Procambarus clarkii is an excellent aquatic animal model that is highly adaptable and tolerant. P. clarkii is widely used as a toxicity model to study various pharmaceutical exposure. This animal model has complex behavioral traits and is considered sensitive to environmental changes, making it an excellent candidate to study psychoactive drugs based on a behavioral approach. However, up to now, most behavioral studies on crayfish use manual observation and scoring that require panelists. In this study, we aim to develop an automation pipeline to analyze crayfish behavior automatically. We use a deep-learning approach to label body parts in multiple crayfish, and based on the trajectory results, the intra- or inter-individual crayfish were calculated. Reliable and fast results of several behavior endpoints in multiple crayfish were retrieved. We then validated the detection performance of numerous crayfish in specific gender groups (male-male and female-female). Based on the result, the male crayfish displayed significantly higher aggression than females. We also tested the antidepressant exposure on this animal model to evaluate the psychoactive effects of this drug. As male crayfish display more distinct agonistic behavior than females, we exposed them to sertraline (SRT) 1 ppb for 7 and 14 days. It was revealed that sertraline was able to alter several behavioral endpoints in crayfish. Significant increases in extend claw ratio, total distance moved, average speed, and rapid movement were displayed in sertraline-exposed crayfish but decreased interaction time and longest interaction time. In addition, SRT 14 days exposure could atler the aggressiveness and bold behavior In the present method, DeepLabCut (DLC) has been utilized to analyze the locomotion behavior of multiple crayfish. This established method provides rapid and accurate ecotoxicity measurements using freshwater crayfish, which beneficient and applicable for environmental research.

ABSTRACT

In recent years, there have been efforts to utilize surface water as a power source, material, and food. However, these efforts are impeded due to the vast amounts of contaminants and emerging contaminants introduced by anthropogenic activities. Herbicides such as Glyphosate and Glufosinate are commonly known to contaminate surface water through agricultural industries. In contrast, some emerging contaminants, such as rare earth elements, have started to enter the surface water from the production and waste of electronic products. Duckweeds are angiosperms from the Lemnaceae family and have been used for toxicity tests in aquatic environments, mainly those from the genus Lemna, and have been approved by OECD. In this study, we used duckweed from the genus Wolffia, which is smaller and considered a good indicator of metal pollutants in the aquatic environment. The growth rate of duckweed is the most common endpoint in observing pollutant toxicity. In order to observe and mark the fronds automatically, we used StarDist, a machine learning-based tool. StarDist is available as a plugin in ImageJ, simplifying and assisting the counting process. Python also helps arrange, manage, and calculate the inhibition percentage after duckweeds are exposed to contaminants. The toxicity test results showed Dysprosium to be the most toxic, with an IC50 value of 14.6 ppm, and Samarium as the least toxic, with an IC50 value of 279.4 ppm. In summary, we can provide a workflow for automatic frond counting using StarDist integrated with ImageJ and Python to simplify the detection, counting, data management, and calculation process.

ABSTRACT

PURPOSE: Hypogonadism is associated with a wide range of physical and psychological symptoms that can affect the overall health of men. However, in a developing country, there are several imposing challenges in the diagnosis and treatment of hypogonadism, including a lack of awareness and understanding of the condition among healthcare providers and patients, limited resources and the high cost of treatment. This review aimed to examine the potential benefits and risks of testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) and provides a perspective of a developing country on the topic. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A comprehensive literature review was conducted to gather relevant information on the impact of testosterone deficiency on ageing males and the effectiveness of TRT for treating hypogonadism. Published peer-reviewed articles were analyzed to evaluate the benefits and risks of TRT. Additionally, the unique challenges faced in the diagnosis and treatment of hypogonadism in a developing country were considered. RESULTS: Testosterone replacement therapy has been shown to be an effective treatment for hypogonadism, particularly in symptomatic men with low testosterone levels. It offers potential benefits such as improvements in symptoms and overall quality of life. However, there are associated risks and side effects that need to be considered. In a developing country, challenges such as limited awareness and understanding of hypogonadism, resource constraints, and high treatment costs pose additional barriers to accessing TRT and comprehensive care. CONCLUSION: In conclusion, TRT holds promise as a treatment for hypogonadism, but its implementation and accessibility face significant challenges in a developing country. Addressing these challenges, including raising awareness, allocating resources, and finding cost-effective solutions, is crucial for ensuring that men with hypogonadism in such settings receive appropriate diagnosis and treatment. Further research and efforts are needed to improve the management of hypogonadism in developing countries and optimize the potential benefits of TRT for affected individuals.

ABSTRACT

Electrochemical carbon dioxide (CO2) conversion to hydrocarbon fuels, such as methane (CH4), offers a promising solution for the long-term and large-scale storage of renewable electricity. To enable this technology, CO2-to-CH4 conversion must achieve high selectivity and energy efficiency at high currents. Here, we report an electrochemical conversion system that features proton-bicarbonate-CO2 mass transport management coupled with an in-situ copper (Cu) activation strategy to achieve high CH4 selectivity at high currents. We find that open matrix Cu electrodes sustain sufficient local CO2 concentration by combining both dissolved CO2 and in-situ generated CO2 from the bicarbonate. In-situ Cu activation through alternating current operation renders and maintains the catalyst highly selective towards CH4. The combination of these strategies leads to CH4 Faradaic efficiencies of over 70% in a wide current density range (100 - 750 mA cm-2) that is stable for at least 12 h at a current density of 500 mA cm-2. The system also delivers a CH4 concentration of 23.5% in the gas product stream.

ABSTRACT

Upgrading carbon dioxide/monoxide to multi-carbon C2+ products using renewable electricity offers one route to more sustainable fuel and chemical production. One of the most appealing products is acetate, the profitable electrosynthesis of which demands a catalyst with higher efficiency. Here, a coordination polymer (CP) catalyst is reported that consists of Cu(I) and benzimidazole units linked via Cu(I)-imidazole coordination bonds, which enables selective reduction of CO to acetate with a 61% Faradaic efficiency at -0.59 volts versus the reversible hydrogen electrode at a current density of 400 mA cm-2 in flow cells. The catalyst is integrated in a cation exchange membrane-based membrane electrode assembly that enables stable acetate electrosynthesis for 190 h, while achieving direct collection of concentrated acetate (3.3 molar) from the cathodic liquid stream, an average single-pass utilization of 50% toward CO-to-acetate conversion, and an average acetate full-cell energy efficiency of 15% at a current density of 250 mA cm-2 .

Electrochemical CO2 reduction (ECR) with industrially relevant current densities, high product selectivity, and long-term stability has been a long-sought goal. Unfortunately, copper (Cu) catalysts for producing valuable multicarbon (C2+) products undergo structural and morphological changes under ECR conditions, especially at high current densities, resulting in a rapid decrease in product selectivity. Herein, we report a catalyst regeneration strategy, one that employs an electrolysis method comprising alternating "on" and "off" operating regimes, to increase the operating stability of a Cu catalyst. We find that it increases operating lifetime many times, maintaining ethylene selectivity ≥40% for at least 200 h of electrolysis in neutral pH media at a current density of 150 mA cm-2 using a flow cell. We also demonstrate ECR to ethylene at a current density of 1 A cm-2 with ethylene selectivity ≥40% using a three-dimensional Cu gas diffusion electrode, finding that this system under these conditions is rendered stable for greater than 36 h. This work illustrates that Cu-based catalysts, once they have entered into the state conventionally considered to possess degraded catalytic activity, may be recovered to deliver high C2+ selectivity. We present evidence that the combination of short periods of electrolysis, which minimizes the morphological changes during "on" segments, with the progressive chemical oxidation of Cu atoms on the catalyst surface during "off" segments, united with the added effects of washing the accumulated salt and decreasing the catholyte temperature prolong together the catalyst's operating lifetime.

ABSTRACT

In alkaline and neutral MEA CO2 electrolyzers, CO2 rapidly converts to (bi)carbonate, imposing a significant energy penalty arising from separating CO2 from the anode gas outlets. Here we report a CO2 electrolyzer uses a bipolar membrane (BPM) to convert (bi)carbonate back to CO2, preventing crossover; and that surpasses the single-pass utilization (SPU) limit (25% for multi-carbon products, C2+) suffered by previous neutral-media electrolyzers. We employ a stationary unbuffered catholyte layer between BPM and cathode to promote C2+ products while ensuring that (bi)carbonate is converted back, in situ, to CO2 near the cathode. We develop a model that enables the design of the catholyte layer, finding that limiting the diffusion path length of reverted CO2 to ~10 µm balances the CO2 diffusion flux with the regeneration rate. We report a single-pass CO2 utilization of 78%, which lowers the energy associated with downstream separation of CO2 by 10× compared with past systems.

ABSTRACT

Background: Nanocovax is a recombinant severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 subunit vaccine composed of full-length prefusion stabilized recombinant SARS-CoV-2 spike glycoproteins (S-2P) and aluminium hydroxide adjuvant. Methods: We conducted a dose-escalation, open label trial (phase 1) and a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial (phase 2) to evaluate the safety and immunogenicity of the Nanocovax vaccine (in 25 mcg, 50 mcg, and 75 mcg doses, aluminium hydroxide adjuvanted (0·5 mg/dose) in 2-dose regime, 28 days apart (ClinicalTrials.gov number, NCT04683484). In phase 1, 60 participants received two intramuscular injection of the vaccine following dose-escalation procedure. The primary outcomes were reactogenicity and laboratory tests to evaluate the vaccine safety. In phase 2, 560 healthy adults received either vaccine doses similar in phase 1 (25 or 50 or 75 mcg S antigen in 0·5 mg aluminium per dose) or adjuvant (0·5 mg aluminium) in a ratio of 2:2:2:1. One primary outcome was the vaccine safety, including solicited adverse events for 7 day and unsolicited adverse events for 28 days after each injection as well as serious adverse event or adverse events of special interest throughout the study period. Another primary outcome was anti-S IgG antibody response (Index unit/ml). Secondary outcomes were surrogate virus neutralisation (inhibition percentage), wild-type SARS-CoV-2 neutralisation (dilution fold), and T-cell responses by intracellular staining for interferon gamma (IFNg). Anti-S IgG and neutralising antibody levels were compared with convalescent serum samples from symptomatic Covid-19 patients. Findings: For phase 1 study, no serious adverse events were observed for all 60 participants. Most adverse events were grade 1 and disappeared shortly after injection. For phase 2 study, after randomisation, 480 participants were assigned to receive the vaccine with adjuvant, and 80 participants were assigned to receive the placebo (adjuvant only). Reactogenicity was absent or mild in the majority of participants and of short duration (mean ≤3 days). Unsolicited adverse events were mild in most participants. There were no serious adverse events related to Nanocovax. Regarding the immunogenicity, Nanocovax induced robust anti-S antibody responses. In general, there humoral responses were similar among vaccine groups which reached their peaks at day 42 and declined afterward. At day 42, IgG levels of vaccine groups were 60·48 [CI95%: 51·12-71·55], 49·11 [41·26-58·46], 57·18 [48·4-67·5] compared to 7·10 [6·32-13·92] of convalescent samples. IgG levels reported here can be converted to WHO international standard binding antibody unit (BAU/ml) by multiplying them to a conversion factor of 21·8. Neutralising antibody titre of vaccine groups at day 42 were 89·2 [52·2-152·3], 80·0 [50·8-125.9] and 95·1 [63·1-143·6], compared to 55·1 [33·4-91·0] of the convalescent group. Interpretation: Up to day 90, Nanocovax was found to be safe, well tolerated, and induced robust immune responses. ABSTRACT

Atomically precise hydrido gold nanoclusters are extremely rare but interesting due to their potential applications in catalysis. By optimization of molecular precursors, we have prepared an unprecedented N-heterocyclic carbene-stabilized hydrido gold nanocluster, [Au24(NHC)14Cl2H3]3+. This cluster comprises a dimer of two Au12 kernels, each adopting an icosahedral shape with one missing vertex. The two kernels are joined through triangular faces, which are capped with a total of three hydrides. The hydrides are detected by electrospray ionization mass spectrometry and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, with density functional theory calculations supporting their position bridging the six uncoordinated gold sites. ABSTRACT

With its excellent mechanical and thermal properties, bilayer graphane is a promising material for realizing future nanoelectromechanical systems. In this study, we focus on the auxetic behavior of bilayer graphane under external loading along various directions through atomistic simulations. We numerically and theoretically reveal the mechanism of the auxeticity in terms of intrinsic interactions between carbon atoms by constructing bilayer graphane. Given that the origin of the auxeticity is intrinsic rather than extrinsic, the work provides a novel technique to control the dimensions of nanoscale bilayer graphane by simply changing the external conditions without the requirement of complex structural design of the material.

Relatively little is known about the seroprevalence of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) IgG antibodies and COVID-19-related behaviors in the general population in Vietnam, where the first case of COVID-19 was detected on January 22, 2020. We surveyed a group of 885 blood donors at community blood donation sessions in Ho Chi Minh City from August 27 to November 7, 2020. Blood was collected to test for SARS-CoV-2 IgG antibodies using the plaque reduction neutralization test. We adjusted the seroprevalence by weight for ages 18 to 59 years old obtained from the 2019 population census. The weighted seroprevalence estimate for SARS-CoV-2 neutralizing IgG antibodies was 0.20% (95% CI, 0.05-0.81). Reports of usually or always using a mask in public places were observed at high levels of 28.6% and 67.5%, respectively. The percentages of usually or always washing hands with soap or disinfecting with hand sanitizer after touching items in public places were 48.0% and 37.6%, respectively. Although our findings suggest undocumented exposure to the virus, the seroprevalence of SARS-CoV-2 IgG antibodies among blood donors was low in this city.

ABSTRACT

Testicular size is an important parameter to investigate male reproductive and sexual functions. However, diagnosis and treatments are hindered by the lack of country-specific standard values for testicular volume. We conducted the present retrospective chart review study on 24,440 men who sought consultation at Andrology and Sexual Medicine-Hanoi Medical University Hospital to provide a reference range of testicular volume and to determine the correlations between testicular volume, age and hormonal profiles. These men were classified into groups being healthy fathers, hypogonadal men, unexplained infertile men, men with unknown fertility, testicular pathologies and other andrological condition groups. Hypogonadal men and unexplained infertile men had significantly smaller testicular sizes compared with healthy fathers. The mean value of testicular volume of healthy subjects was 13.64 ± 3.44 ml (left testis: 13.94 ± 3.72 ml; right testis: 13.34 ± 3.61 ml; p < 0.001). Testicular size of Vietnamese men was negatively correlated with LH and FSH (Rho = -0.16 and -0.33, p < 0.001) and positively correlated with testosterone after adjusting for confounding factors. Testicular volume was independent of the subject's age and smoking habits.

Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection in men is a serious issue because it is associated with genital warts, anogenital cancers, and HPV transmission to their sex partners. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence and genotypes of HPVs in Vietnamese male patients hospitalized with sexually transmitted infection (STI) symptoms between 2016 and 2020 by using polymerase chain reaction and reverse dot blot hybridization analysis. HPV DNA was detected in 191/941 (20.3%) penile cell samples. The HPV patient's mean age was 30.3 in the range of 16- and 69-year-old. The highest HPV prevalence (84.7%) was found in patients between 20- and 39-year-old. A total of 313 HPV genotypes were identified. The multiple-infection rate was 42.9%. The most common high-risk (HR)-HPV genotypes were HPV-16 (8.0%), HPV-51 (7.7%), HPV-52 (4.8%), HPV-56 (4.2%), and HPV-18 (3.8%). Furthermore, HPV-11 and HPV-6 genotypes were the two most common low-risk (LR)-HPV genotypes with the rate of 36.7% and 21.4%, respectively. Notably, HPV-52 was found circulating in Vietnam for the first time. In conclusion, this study results showed that HPV prevalence in Vietnamese male patients was common and diverse. In addition, regarding public health and cancer prevention, the inclusion of the HPV vaccination into the national vaccination program for both men and women is recommended.
