ABSTRACT

Introduction: This study addresses the urgent need for non-destructive identification of commercially valuable Dalbergia species, which are threatened by illegal logging. Effective identification methods are crucial for ecological conservation, biodiversity preservation, and the regulation of the timber trade. Methods: We integrate Visible/Near-Infrared (Vis/NIR) Hyperspectral Imaging (HSI) with advanced machine learning techniques to enhance the precision and efficiency of wood species identification. Our methodology employs various modeling approaches, including Principal Component Analysis (PCA), Partial Least Squares Discriminant Analysis (PLS-DA), Support Vector Machine (SVM), and Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN). These models analyze spectral data across Vis (383-982 nm), NIR (982-2386 nm), and full spectral ranges (383 nm to 2386 nm). We also assess the impact of preprocessing techniques such as Standard Normal Variate (SNV), Savitzky-Golay (SG) smoothing, normalization, and Multiplicative Scatter Correction (MSC) on model performance. Results: With optimal preprocessing, both SVM and CNN models achieve 100% accuracy across NIR and full spectral ranges. The selection of an appropriate wavelength range is critical; utilizing the full spectrum captures a broader array of the wood's chemical and physical properties, significantly enhancing model accuracy and predictive power. Discussion: These findings underscore the effectiveness of Vis/NIR HSI in wood species identification. They also highlight the importance of precise wavelength selection and preprocessing techniques to maximize both accuracy and cost-efficiency. This research contributes substantially to ecological conservation and the regulation of the timber trade by providing a reliable, non-destructive method for identifying threatened wood species.

ABSTRACT

P-type Fe3CoSb12-based skutterudite thin films are successfully fabricated, exhibiting high thermoelectric performance, stability, and flexibility at medium-to-high temperatures, based on preparing custom target materials and employing advanced pulsed laser deposition techniques to address the bonding challenge between the thin films and high-temperature flexible polyimide substrates. Through the optimization of fabrication processing and nominal doping concentration of Ce, the thin films show a power factor of >100 µW m-1 K-2 and a ZT close to 0.6 at 653 K. After >2000 bending cycle tests at a radius of 4 mm, only a 6 % change in resistivity can be observed. Additionally, the assembled p-type Fe3CoSb12-based flexible device exhibits a power density of 135.7 µW cm-2 under a temperature difference of 100 K with the hot side at 623 K. This work fills a gap in the realization of flexible thermoelectric devices in the medium-to-high-temperature range and holds significant practical application value.

ABSTRACT

Single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs)-based thermoelectric materials, valued for their flexibility, lightweight, and cost-effectiveness, show promise for wearable thermoelectric devices. However, their thermoelectric performance requires significant enhancement for practical applications. To achieve this goal, in this work, we introduce rational "triple treatments" to improve the overall performance of flexible SWCNT-based films, achieving a high power factor of 20.29 µW cm-1 K-2 at room temperature. Ultrasonic dispersion enhances the conductivity, NaBH4 treatment reduces defects and enhances the Seebeck coefficient, and cold pressing significantly densifies the SWCNT films while preserving the high Seebeck coefficient. Also, bending tests confirm structural stability and exceptional flexibility, and a six-legged flexible device demonstrates a maximum power density of 2996 µW cm-2 at a 40 K temperature difference, showing great application potential. This advancement positions SWCNT films as promising flexible thermoelectric materials, providing insights into high-performance carbon-based thermoelectrics.

ABSTRACT

In order to explore practical ways to test the eco-efficiency of low-carbon tourism and its drivers in Jiangsu Province, this paper empirically tests the effects of selected driving variables on the eco-efficiency of low-carbon tourism using a spatial lag model. It measures the eco-efficiency of low-carbon tourism in 13 prefecture-level cities in Jiangsu Province based on a modified two-stage network SBM model. According to the direct effect test results, per capita tourism income (PTI) had the most significant effect on the eco-efficiency of low-carbon tourism, with an impact coefficient of 0.5437, environmental pollution governance (EPG) had the second most significant effect, energy consumption intensity (ECI) and carbon emission intensity (CEI) had adverse effects with effect coefficients of - 0.3815 and - 0.4415, respectively, and R&D input intensity (RDII) had the slightest effect on the eco-efficiency of low-carbon tourism, with an impact coefficient of - 0.0836. According to indirect effect test results, RDII has the most significant positive effect with a coefficient of 0.3848, PTI has the second most significant adverse effect on the eco-efficiency of low-carbon tourism with a coefficient of - 0.3245, ECI has the third most significant adverse effect with a coefficient of - 0.2567, EPG has the fourth largest positive effect with a coefficient of 0.2162, and CEI has the slightest adverse effect with an impact coefficient of - 0.2147.

ABSTRACT

The rhizome of Atractylodes macrocephala is one of the most commonly used herbs in China. In this paper, we presented the complete chloroplast genome of A. macrocephala. The chloroplast genome of A. macrocephala is 153,256 bp in length as the circular, which harbors a large single-copy (LSC) region 84,291 bp, a small single-copy (SSC) region of 18,675 bp and separated by a pair of inverted-repeat (IR) regions of 25,145 bp for each one. The overall nucleotide content of the chloroplast genome is 37.7% GC content. This chloroplast genome contains 125 genes, which includes 88 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 29 transfer RNA (tRNAs) and 8 ribosome RNA (rRNAs). Phylogenetic implications based on chloroplast genomes of 16 the family Compositae plant species indicated that Atractylodes macrocephala was closely related to Atractylodes lancea in the family Compositae by the Maximum-Likelihood (ML) method.

ABSTRACT

As green, safe, and cheap solvents, deep eutectic solvents (DESs) provide tremendous opportunities to open up attractive perspectives for electrocatalysis. In this review, the achievement of DESs in the preparation of catalysts for electrolytic water splitting is described in detail according to their roles combined with our own work. DESs are generally employed as green media, templates, and electrolytes. A large number of hydrogen bonds in DESs result in supramolecular structures which have the ability to shape the morphologies of nanomaterials and then tune their performance. DESs can also serve as reactive reagents of metal electrocatalysts through directly participating in synthesis. Compared with conventional heteroatom sources, they have the advantages of high safety and designability. The "all-in-one" transformation strategy is expected to realize 100% atomic transformation of reactants. The aim of this review is to offer readers a deeper understanding on preparing DES-mediated electrocatalysts with higher performance for water splitting.

ABSTRACT

Background and Objective. Automatic segmentation of MRI brain tumor area is a key step in the diagnosis and treatment of brain tumor. In recent years, the improved network based on UNet encoding and decoding structure has been widely used in brain tumor segmentation. However, due to continuous convolution and pooling operations, some spatial context information in existing networks will be discontinuous or even missing. It will affect the segmentation accuracy of the model. Therefore, the method proposed in this paper is to alleviate the lack of spatial context information and improve the accuracy of the model.Approach. This paper proposes a context attention module (multiscale contextual attention) to capture and filter out high-level features with spatial context information, which solves the problem of context information loss in feature extraction. The channel attention mechanism is introduced into the decoding structure to realize the fusion of high-level features and low-level features. The standard convolution block in the encoding and decoding structure is replaced by the pre-activated residual block to optimize the network training and improve the network performance.Results. This paper uses two public data sets (BraTs 2017 and BraTs 2019) to evaluate and verify the proposed method. Experimental results show that the proposed method can effectively alleviate the lack of spatial context information, and the segmentation performance is better than other existing methods.Significance. The method improves the segmentation performance of the model. It will assist doctors in making accurate diagnosis and provide reference basis for tumor resection. As a result, the proposed method will reduce the operation risk of patients and the postoperative recurrence rate.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Tendon-to-bone healing is a difficult process in treatment of rotator cuff tear (RCT). In addition, diabetes is an important risk factor for poor tendon-to-bone healing. Therefore, we investigated the specific mechanisms through which diabetes affects tendon-to-bone healing by regulating the Cystic Fibrosis Transmembrane Conductance Regulator (CFTR). METHODS: Tendon-derived stem cells (TDSCs) were extracted from rats after which their proliferative capacities were evaluated by the MTT assay. The expression levels of CFTR and tendon-related markers were determined by qRT-PCR. Then, bioinformatics analyses and dual luciferase reporter gene assays were used to identify miRNAs with the ability to bind CFTR mRNA. Finally, CFTR was overexpressed in TDSCs to validate the specific mechanisms through which the high glucose microenvironment inhibits tendon-to-bone healing. RESULTS: The high glucose microenvironment downregulated mRNA expression levels of tendon-related markers and CFTR in TDSCs cultured with different glucose concentrations. Additionally, bioinformatics analyses revealed that let-7b-5p may be regulated by the high glucose microenvironment and can regulate CFTR levels. Moreover, a dual luciferase reporter gene assay was used to confirm that let-7b-5p targets and binds CFTR mRNA. Additional experiments also confirmed that overexpressed CFTR effectively reversed the negative effects of the hyperglycaemic microenvironment and upregulation of let-7b-5p on TDSC proliferation and differentiation. These findings imply that the hyperglycemic microenvironment inhibits CFTR transcription and, consequently, proliferation and differentiation of TDSCs in vitro by upregulating let-7b-5p. CONCLUSIONS: A hyperglycemic microenvironment inhibits TDSC proliferation in vitro via the let-7b-5p/CFTR pathway, and this is a potential mechanism in diabetes-induced poor tendon-to-bone healing.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To explore the value of multimodal neuroelectrophysiological monitoring technology in the evaluation of spinal cord and nerve root function for the treatment of thoracic tuberculosis with debridement and bone grafting and posterior internal fixation by transcostal transverse process approach. METHODS: The clinical data of 25 patients with thoracic tuberculosis underwent debridement and bone grafting and posterior vertebral arch internal fixation by transcostal transverse process approach from December 2018 to September 2019 was retrospectively analyzed. Among these 25 patients, including 14 males and 11 females;aged from 20 to 83 years old, with a mean of (63.45±9.65) years;there were 3 cases of single vertebral body destruction, 13 cases of 2 vertebral bodies destruction, and 9 cases of 3 or more vertebral bodies destruction. All surgical patients underwent intraoperative detection of somatosensory evoked potential(SEP) and transcranial electric stimulation-motor evoked potential(TES-MEP);and electromyography (EMG) was used to monitor the pedicle screw placement and lesion removal. The erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR) was used to evaluate the decline of inflammatory indexes, the visual analogue scale (VAS) was used to evaluate the thoracic spine pain, and the Cobb angle and Oswestry Disability Index(ODI) were used to evaluate the improvement of function. RESULTS: All 25 patients were successfully monitored. Five patients had abnormal SEP waveforms during operation, 3 cases were caused by intraoperative clearing of lesions and spinal cord compression during irrigation, timely replacement of instruments and gestures, and adjustment of irrigation water flow rate returned the waveform to normal; one case was caused by a decrease in systolic blood pressure, and the waveform returned to normal after timely treatment of increased blood pressure;after 1 case of SEP waveform abnormality, the operation was suspended for 10 minutes and recovered spontaneously, and the waveform abnormality did not reappear until the end of the operation. Seven patients had abnormal TES-MEP waveforms, 5 cases occurred when the pedicle screw was inserted, the nail path was adjusted in time, and the waveform recovered after nail repositioning;one case was caused by tilting the operation bed during operation, and the waveform gradually recovered after adjusting the tilt angle of operation bed; one case occurred during the correction of the pedicle screw and rod system, and the waveform gradually returned to normal after the contralateral screw and rod correction were completed during operation. In 5 cases, the EMG burst potential was detected at the same time when the TES-MEP waveform was abnormal. After adjustment, the EMG burst potential disappeared. There was no abnormality in the TES-MEP and SEP waveforms at the same time. Postoperative VAS, ESR, Cobb angle, and ODI were improved compared with preoperatively (P<0.05). CONCLUSION: In patients with thoracic tuberculosis, the use of debridement and bone grafting and posterior internal fixation by transcostal transverse process approach combined with intraoperative SEP, TES-MEP and EMG monitoring can timely reflect the spinal cord and nerve root function, avoid intraoperative injuries while achieving good fixation and lesion removal.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To explore the value of multi-mode neuroelectrophysiological monitoring (MIOM) in evaluating spinal cord and nerve root function in the treatment of thoracic tuberculosis via costal transverse process approach. METHODS: From December 2017 to September 2019, a retrospective study of thoracic tuberculosis patients in our hospital was conducted. This study included 25 patients (14 men and 11 women). The average age of patients at the time of surgery was 63.3 years (range, 20-83 years). All patients (three cases with the destruction of a single vertebral body, 13 cases with the destruction of two vertebral bodies, and nine cases with the destruction of three or more vertebral bodies) underwent costal transverse process approach with debridement and bone grafting and internal fixation combined with intraoperative multimodal neuroelectrophysiological monitoring. During the operation, somatosensory evoked potential (SEP), transcranial electrical stimulation motor evoked potential (TES-MEP), and spontaneous electromyography (EMG) were used to monitor progress. ESR, visual analogue scale (VAS), Cobb angle, and Oswestry disability index (ODI) were statistically analyzed to evaluate the treatment effects and patient satisfaction. RESULTS: All 25 patients were successfully monitored. The follow-up time ranged from 12 to 21 months, with an average of 15.3 months. SEP waveform abnormalities occurred in five patients during the operation, the incidence rate was 28%. Of these five patients, three patients changed their instruments and postures, and adjusted the flushing water flow in time; one patient received pressure therapy in time; the operation was suspended for 10 min for one patient. There were seven cases with abnormal TES-MEP waveform, the incidence rate was 28%. Among these seven cases, five cases adjusted the nail path during the operation and adjusted the nail position in time. One case adjusted the inclination angle of the operating table in time; one case completed the contralateral nail stick correction in time; five of them had abnormal TES-MEP waveforms, and EMG burst potential was also detected, the incidence rate was 20%. After prompt treatment, the abnormal waveforms of all patients returned to normal; no abnormal waveforms, recurrence of tuberculosis, loosening of internal fixation, nerve and spinal cord dysfunction, etc. The VAS score, erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), Cobb angle, and ODI scores of the patients 1 year after operation were significantly improved compared with 1 week after operation (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Multi-mode intraoperative electrophysiological detection combined with costal transverse process approach for the treatment of thoracic tuberculosis could avoid intraoperative nerve and blood vessel damage, reduce surgical risk, improve surgical efficiency, and ensure curative effect.

ABSTRACT

Phenyl-1,2-benzoselenazol-3(2H)-one (ebselen) is a classical mimic of glutathione peroxidase (GPx). Thioredoxin interaction endows ebselen attractive biological functions, such as antioxidation and anti-infection, as well as versatile therapeutic usage. Accordingly, application of ebselen analogues in biosensing, chemical labeling, imaging analysis, disease pathology, drug development, clinical treatment, etc. have been widely developed, in which mercaptans, reactive oxygen species, reactive sulfur species, peptides, and proteins were involved. Herein, focusing on the application of ebselen-agents in biochemistry, we have made a systematic summary and comprehensive review. First, we summarized both the classical and the innovative methods for preparing ebselen-agents to present the synthetic strategies. Then we discussed the full functional applicability of ebselen analogues in three fields of biochemical analysis including the fluorescence sensing and bioimaging, derivatization for high throughput fluorescence analysis, and the labeling gents for proteomics. Finally, we discussed the current challenges and perspectives for ebselen-agents as analytical tools in biological research. By presenting the multifunctional applicability of ebselen, we hope this review could appeal researchers to design the ebselen-related biomaterials for biochemical analysis.

ABSTRACT

Polygonatum sibiricum is a famous and well-known TCH (Traditional Chinese Herb) in China. In this paper, the complete chloroplast genome of P. sibiricum was studied and illustrated to add more genetic information and data. The chloroplast genome is 152,960 bp in length and a typical quadripartite structure, which exhibits a large single-copy region (LSC) of 81,471 bp, a small single-copy region (SSC) of 18,485 bp and a pair of inverted-repeat regions (IRs) of 26,502 bp in each. The overall nucleotide composition of chloroplast genome is: 30.7% A, 31.4% T, 19.3% C, 18.6% G and the total GC content 37.9%. A total of 136 genes were annotated that included 90 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 38 transfer RNA (tRNAs) and 8 ribosome RNA (rRNAs). The phylogenetic ML tree shown that P. sibiricum is closely related to P. cyrtonema on genetic position relationship by the Maximum-Likelihood (ML) method.

ABSTRACT

Angelica dahurica is an upright perennial herb that is becoming more and more fashionable in the garden in the world. The complete chloroplast genome of A. dahurica was annotated and studied in this paper. It was a circular molecular genome with a size of 146,918 bp in length, which was composed of four distinct regions such as a large single-copy region of 93,605 bp, a small single-copy region of 17,669 bp and a pair of IR regions of 17,822 bp. We annotated and found comprised 129 genes, including 85 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 36 transfer RNA genes (tRNAs) and eight ribosome RNA genes (rRNAs). The overall nucleotide composition is A of 30.8%, T of 31.7%, C of 19.1% and G of 18.4%, with a total A + T content of the chloroplast genome 62.5% and G + C of 37.5%. Phylogenetic analysis with the reported chloroplast genomes revealed that A. dahurica is most closely related to Angelica gigas in the phylogenetic relationships.

ABSTRACT

The root of Phragmites australis can often be used as the Chinese herb in China. In this paper, the complete chloroplast genome of P. australis was studied for more genetic information. The chloroplast genome was 137,561 bp in length as the circular and typical quadripartite structure, which contained a large single-copy region (LSC) of 82,328 bp, a small single-copy region (SSC) of 12,699 bp, and a pair of inverted-repeat regions (IRs) of 21,267 bp. The overall nucleotide composition of chloroplast genome is: 42,300 bp A (30.7%), 42,090 bp T (30.6%), 26,500 bp C (19.3%), 26,671 bp G (19.4%) and the total G + C content of 38.7%. However, 134 genes were found that included 87 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 39 transfer RNA (tRNAs), and 8 ribosome RNA (rRNAs). The Maximum-Likelihood (ML) method phylogenetic relationship with the reported chloroplast genomes showed that Phragmites australis is closely related to Setaria viridis and Setaria italic of the family Poaceae.

Aloe vera has been used as a Chinese herb and an ingredient in many cosmetic products in China. In this study, the complete chloroplast genome of A. vera was determined for more genetic data information. The chloroplast genome was 152,875 bp length as a typical quadripartite structure that contained a large single-copy region (LSC) of 83,505 bp, a small single-copy region (SSC) of 16,178 bp and a pair of inverted-repeat regions (IRs) of 26,596 bp. The overall nucleotide composition of chloroplast genome is: 47,185 bp A (30.8%), 48,123 bp T (31.5%), 29,326 bp C (19.2%), 28,241 bp G (18.5%) and the total G + C content of 37.7%. Then, 131 genes were found that included 85 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 38 transfer RNA (tRNAs) and 8 ribosome RNA (rRNAs). The phylogenetic analysis showed that A. vera closely related to A. maculata in the phylogenetic relationship of the family Asphodelaceae by the Maximum-Likelihood (ML) method.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To compare clinical effect of movable external fixation and fusion fixation for the treatment of elbow tuberculosis. METHODS: From October 2013 to June 2019, 52 patients with elbow tuberculosis treated with standard antituberculosis therapy were divided into movable external fixation group and fusion fixation group according to treatment methods. In group A, there were 25 patients, including 11 males and 14 females, aged from 24 to 75 years old with an average of (42.81± 9.01) years old; the courses of diseases ranged from 2 to 9 months with an average of (3.96±1.45) months. In group B, there were 27 patients, including 15 males and 12 females, aged from 23 to 77 years old with an averageof (44.08±7.44) years old; the courses of diseases ranged from 2 to 7 months with an average of (3.88±1.67) months. All patients were performed focus debridement. Intraoperative blood loss, operative time were compared between two groups. VAS score before operation, 2 weeks and 12 months after operation were applied to evaluate pain relieve;Mayo elbow performance score (MEPS) before operation, 1 and 12 months after operation were used to evaluate clinical effect;changes of erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and Creactive protein, CRP) before operation, 3 weeks after antituberculosis therapy, 1 week and 6 months after operation were compared between two groups. RESULTS: All patients were followed up from 12 to 20 months with an average of (13.50±4.85) months. No mixed infection and recurrence of tuberculosis occurred. There were no statistical differences in intraoperative blood loss and operative time(P>0.05). There was difference in postoperative VAS score at 2 weeks between movable external fixation group (5.15±0.95) and fusion fixation group (4.04±0.84)(P<0.01);while no difference in postoperative VAS score at 12 months between two groups (P>0.05). No difference in ESR and CRP level between two groups before and after operation (P>0.05). Postoperative Mayo score at 1 and 12 months in movable external fixation group were (78.15±7.83) and (90.19±7.13);in fusion fixation group were (70.40±7.61) and (82.60±8.38);there were differences in Mayo score at different time points between two groups(P<0.01). CONCLUSION: For elbow tuberculosis, movable external fixation and fusion fixation have equal effect in operative time, amount of bleeding and control of tuberculosis infection indicator. Movable external fixation need earlier functional exercise, not conducive to pain relief at early stage, which may be better than fusion fixation, it is worth clinical promoting.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the clinical effect of One-stage posterior debridement combined with lumbar-ilium fixation and bone graft fusion for the treatment of lumbosacral tuberculosis. METHODS: The clinical data of 31 patients with lumbosacral tuberculosis treated by one-stage posterior debridement combined with lumbar-ilium fixation and bone graft fusion from January 2013 to February 2018 were retrospectively analyzed. There were 18 males and 13 females, aged from 18 to 77 years old with an average of (45.9±9.1) years. The lesion segment was form L4 to S2. The preoperative ASIA grading showed that 2 cases were grade B, 17 cases were grade C, 12 were grade D. Pre- and post-operative C reactive protein (CRP), visual analogue scale (VAS), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), ASIA grade, lumbosacral angle and intervertebral space height were analyzed, the surgery complications, stability of internal fixation, bone fusion were observed. RESULTS: All the 31 patients were followed up for 10 to 24 months with an average of (16.0±3.1) months. One patient with local infection and subcutaneous hydrops was cured by dressing change. Other 30 cases got primary healing without sinus formation and no recurrence of spinal tuberculosis. All the patients were cured, no internal fixation loosening and breakage were found. All bone fusion was successful with an average fusion time of (4.7±1.1) months. At the final follow-up, ESR and CRP were normal, the VAS was decreased from (6.13±1.21) points preoperatively to (1.92±0.57) pioints, the ASIA grading showed that 2 cases were grade C, 6 cases were grade D, and 23 cases were grade E. The lumbosacral angle and intervertebral space height was increased from preoperative (21.42±3.75) °, (7.84±0.41) mm to (27.21±3.12) °, (9.80±0.38) mm at the final follow-up, respectively. CONCLUSION: One-stage posterior debridement combined with lumbar-ilium fixation and bone graft fusion is a practicable, effective and safe method for the treatment of lumbosacral tuberculosis. It can be recommended in clinical application.

ABSTRACT

In order to realize the effective measurement of environmental pollution loss (EPL) caused by waste gas emits from energy consumption in industrial parks, it is built a shadow price model of waste gas emits in this study on the basis of literature review and status analysis. The measurement model is applied to Nanjing MV Industrial Park by using relevant statistical data. It is found that the total environmental pollution loss of waste gas emits from energy consumption in Nanjing MV Industrial Park presents a "U" change trend, which first decreases and then increases. In terms of the composition of environmental pollution loss of waste gas emits, environmental pollution loss caused by SO2 and NO2 stays high, which are the main components of environmental pollution loss and would be the focus of energy conservation and emission reduction in Nanjing MV Industrial Park in the future. The research results provide an effective quantitative analysis method for local government to measure the environmental pollution loss of waste gas emits from energy consumption in industrial parks and to formulate policies for environmental pollution treatment. ABSTRACT

The peel of Citrus reticulata can be useful as a kind of traditional Chinese medicine in China. The circular complete chloroplast genome of Citrus reticulata was 160,101 bp in length with the typical quadripartite structure of angiosperms, including 87,721 bp large single-copy region (LSC), 18,394 bp small single-copy region (SSC) of and a pair of 26,993 bp inverted repeat (IR) regions. The overall nucleotide composition of chloroplast genome sequence is 30.5% A, 31.0% T, C (19.6%), G (18.9%), and the total G + C content of 38.5%. A total of 138 genes were annotated in chloroplast genome of C. reticulata. The phylogenetic tree result showed that C. reticulata was evolutionarily close to Citrus sinensis in the family Rutaceae the genus Citrus by the maximum-likelihood (ML) method.

ABSTRACT

Portulaca oleracea is an important and widely distributed medicinal and edible plant, which has great economic value in the medical and food industries in the whole world. The complete chloroplast genome of Portulaca oleracea was found to possess a total length 156,533 bp and had the circular structure. It was the typical quadripartite structure the same as many plants, including 87,437 bp large single-copy region (LSC), 18,096 bp small single-copy region (SSC) of and a pair of 25,500 bp inverted repeat (IR) regions. The total of 132 genes was successfully annotated, which contained 87 protein-coding genes, 37 transfer RNA genes, and eight ribosomal RNA genes. Nineteen genes were found in one of IR, which included eight protein-coding gene, seven tRNA genes, and four rRNA genes. The overall nucleotide composition of chloroplast genome sequence is: 31.5% (A), 32.1% (T), 18.5% (C), 17.9% (G), and the total GC content of 36.4%. The phylogenetic analysis result showed that Portulaca oleracea was close to Carnegiea gigantean in the phylogenetic relationship by the neighbor-joining (NJ) method in this study.
