ABSTRACT

INTRODUÇÃO: O joelho corresponde a uma articulação muito estudada devido à alta incidência de lesões. Grande parte dos estudos correlaciona estas lesões com o valgo durante movimentos de flexão do joelho (dinâmico), que é atribuído principalmente ao fraco desempenho muscular do glúteo médio. OBJETIVO: Este estudo teve por objetivo avaliar a associação entre a rotação medial do quadril e o ângulo do valgo (bidimensional) durante o teste de descida do degrau, obtidos através da biofotogrametria (software SAPO). MÉTODOS: 104 voluntários, esportistas do sexo feminino, foram avaliados na mensuração da rotação interna de quadril (teste de Craig) e o valor angular do valgo do joelho durante a descida de degrau; as análises foram submetidas a confiabilidade interobservadores com o teste de concordância de Bland e Altman. Os dados foram analisados através de regressão linear múltipla de modo a ajustar os resultados pela idade dos avaliados. RESULTADOS: O ângulo gerado na rotação medial do quadril teve média de 45,3 graus, já o valgo do joelho durante o movimento de descer um degrau apresentou média de 8,6 graus. Foi encontrada relação inversa significativa na associação da rotação medial e o valgo do joelho. CONCLUSÃO: Os dados apresentados mostram uma possível associação entre a diminuição da rotação medial do quadril com o aumento do valgo do joelho, porem os dados não são conclusivos devido a avaliação ter sido bidimensional. Os resultados obtidos sugerem a necessidade de mais estudos conclusivos.


INTRODUCTION: The knee is a widely studied joint due to its high incidence of injuries. Most studies correlate these lesions with the valgus during flexion of the knee (dynamic), which is attributed mainly to the poor performance of the gluteus medius muscle. OBJECTIVE: This study had the aim to evaluate the association between the hip medial rotation and the valgus angle (in two dimensions) during the stair descent test obtained through photogrammetry (SAPO software). METHODS: 104 female volunteer athletes were evaluated in the measurement of the hip internal rotation (Craig's test) and the angle value of knee valgus during the descending of a step; the analyses were submitted to inter-rater reliability assessment observed with the Bland and Altman plot. The data were analyzed through multiple linear regression in order to adjust the results to the age of the evaluees. RESULTS: The angle generated in the medial rotation of the hip presented average of 45.3 degrees, with the increase of the knee valgus, while the valgus during the descent movement presented average of 8.6 degrees. Significant inverse relation in the association of the medial rotation and knee valgus was found. CONCLUSION: The presented data show a possible association between the reduction of the medial rotation of the hip with the increase of the knee valgus; however, the data are not conclusive since the evaluation was bidimensional. The obtained results suggest the need of more conclusive studies.

ABSTRACT

The objective of the present study was to evaluate the effect of 940 nm wavelength light emitting diode (LED) phototherapy on nerve regeneration in rats. Forty male Wistar rats weighing approximately 300 g each were divided into four groups: control (C); control submitted to LED phototherapy (CLed); Sciatic Nerve Lesion without LED phototherapy (L); Sciatic Nerve Lesion with LED phototherapy (LLed). The lesion was caused by crushing the right sciatic nerve. A dose of 4 J/cm(2) was used for ten consecutive days beginning on the first postoperative day. Groups C and L were submitted to the same procedure as the LLed group, but the equipment was turned off. The LED phototherapy with 940 nm wavelength reduced the areas of edema, the number of mononuclear cells present in the inflammatory infiltration, and increased functional recovery scores at 7, 14 and 21 days. The results suggest that the use of phototherapy at 940 nm after nerve damage improves morphofunctional recovery and nerve regeneration.
