ABSTRACT

This paper reports on a methodology to elaborate interdigitated nanoelectrode devices (INDs) at the wafer scale, relying on a mix-and-match process which combines proximity optical lithography and electron beam lithography. An optimum exposure dose allowed fabricating nanodevices, at the wafer level, with a successful yield of 97%. The final devices are bonded onto conventional TO-8 packages. Electrical characterization in a short-circuited nanoelectrode is performed, revealing a 230 µΩ cm resistivity value at 23 °C. A MEMS-based spotter made of cantilevers (called Bioplume) has been used to obtain precise functionalization of the INDs with sub-picoliter volume solutions. These INDs are the basis of multiple tunnel junction nanodevices, intended to serve as novel highly sensitive nanobiosensors.

ABSTRACT

We present a quantitative study on the fabrication of microlenses using a low-cost polymer dispending technique. Our method is based on the use of a silicon micro-cantilever robotized spotter system. We first give a detailed description of the technique. In a second part, the fabricated microlenses are fully characterized by means of SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope), AFM (Atomic Force Microscopy) non contact optical profilometry and Mach-Zehnder interferometry. Diameters in the range [25-130mum] are obtained with an average surface roughness of 2.02nm. Curvature radii, focal lengths as well as aberrations are also measured for the first time: the fabricated microlenses present focal lengths in the range [55-181mum] and exhibit high optical quality only limited by diffraction behaviour with RMS aberration lower than lambda/14.

ABSTRACT

Repeated injections of corticosterone acetate, physiological hormone of the Rat, in rats carrying Strongyloides ratti, oppose the deparasiting which normally takes place spontaneously. The secretion induced by this hormone by impregnating the organism through the corticotropic factor administered in the form of tetracosactide-zinc, achieves the same result. During all these treatments, an important hypercorticosteronemy is established. Stopping the injections is quickly followed by the worms-being rejected and the corticosteronemy returning to normal. The relations between the corticosteronemy and the parasitism are analysed and lead to the conclusion that the parasite induces an aspecific hypocorticosteronemiant reaction which, through its aspecific and specific repercussions, participates in the self-cure phenomenon.
