ABSTRACT

To determine if stress is a risk factor for periodontal disease and whether there is association between stress and gingivitis that had children of the Education Institute Andr‚s Bello. Material and methods. Observational, descriptive, correlational, prospective, cross-sectional study. It consisted of 75 schoolchildren aged of 7 to 12 years old, 40 boys and 35 girls in the Education Institute Andr‚s Bello. The psychological evaluation was conducted using the Self Rating Anxiety Scale Zung. It was used epidemiological CPITN index (index of periodontal treatment needs of the community) for periodontal condition and Turesky index to measure plaque. Results. OR = 0,7 p> 0,05 finding that stress marked to severe is not a risk factor for gingivitis. Conclusions. There is no association between stress and gingivitis p> 0,05 there.
