ABSTRACT

An adolescent boy with an Angle Class II Division 1 malocclusion had a hyperdivergent growth pattern with an excessive lower facial height and an anterior open bite. Combined orthodontic and surgical treatment should be considered for patients with a skeletal anterior open-bite malocclusion. For patients who do not want surgery, however, a 0.022 × 0.028-in nontorqued, nonangulated fixed appliance with a chincup as adjunct therapy is an alternative that can have excellent results. The final outcome of this treatment were great improvements in function, esthetics, and posttreatment stability after 8 years.

ABSTRACT

A 13-year-old boy had fractured both maxillary central incisors when he was 8 years old, resulting in pulpar damage. At the time of the accident, root canal therapy was performed. Although the teeth were retrieved, their roots were short and not fully developed. Cephalometric analysis suggested extraction of the four first premolars to achieve aesthetic and functional objectives. To attend to the patient's chief complaint, and with his parents' approval, both upper central incisors were extracted followed by periodontal and cosmetic procedures to improve the patient's smile as well as his self-esteem and satisfaction.

ABSTRACT

Traumatic injuries with loss of anterior teeth occur more frequently in children. Treatment of the dental trauma is complex and requires a comprehensive and accurate diagnostic and treatment plan. It is also important to consider the biological, functional, esthetic, and economic aspects. The purpose of this article is to show a case report with a successful root formation and periodontal healing after autotransplantation of maxillary second right premolar in place of maxillary right central incisor site. Tooth autotransplantation may be considered as a viable treatment option instead of a conventional prosthetic and implant rehabilitation.
