ABSTRACT

Alpha-glycerophosphate dehydrogenase (alpha-GPD) and succinate dehydrogenase (SD) activities were investigated in lymphocytes from peripheral blood of normal rats and rats bearing the Walker 256 carcinosarcoma. Computer analysis using an original algorithm revealed a hierarchy of biorhythmic patterns of dehydrogenase activities. In all rats, mean SD activity was higher than mean alpha-GPD activity. In rats without tumor, SD and alpha-GPD activities were both higher than in rats with the Walker tumor. Biorhythm spectra for both dehydrogenases were very similar in rats with or without tumor, but tumor implantation resulted in a change of the phase relationship between alpha-GPD and SD.

ABSTRACT

The paper analyses the characteristics of mathematical methods for detecting the biorhythms currently used for the chronodiagnosis and chronotherapy of cardiovascular diseases. Emphasis is laid on the assessment of the resolving power of algorithms and programs applied to the detection of circadian biological rhythms. The paper also discusses whether chronodiagnosis and chronotherapy of cardiovascular diseases are admissible by clinically available mathematical methods for detecting circadian rhythms. In addition, it deals with theoretical conditions required for accurate detection of varying frequency biological rhythms from length-limited data arrays and proposes a mathematical method suitable to a problem to detect biological rhythms with periods unknown in advance.

ABSTRACT

In a series of experiments the alpha-glycerophosphate dehydrogenase and succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) activities were daily determined simultaneously by the cytochemical method in peripheral blood lymphocytes of normal rats and those with the Walker carcinosarcoma. Using an original algorithm a hierarchy of biorhythms was singled out by a computer according to individual changes in the dehydrogenase activity for each rat. The mean level of succinate dehydrogenase activity was higher than that of alpha-glycerophosphate dehydrogenase. A set of discovered biorhythms and their representation were identical in the both enzymes. The tumor transplantation caused changes in the phase coordination of investigated dehydrogenases in all rhythms and promoted an increase of the succinate dehydrogenase amplitude as compared with the alpha-glycerophosphate dehydrogenase amplitude in certain rhythms. It is concluded that biorhythmological parameters of these enzymes may be used for characterization of the tumor-bearing host.

ABSTRACT

Examinations of the serum of young healthy men have revealed hierarchy of 10 biorhythms of various frequencies, describing amylase activity, ranging from 8 hrs to 1 month. The same mathematical method has helped detect the rhythm parameters of 9 environmental factors, their time course being recorded synchronously with the blood collection. Phase ratios of the monthly biorhythms of amylase activity and environmental rhythms are discussed, as are seasonal features of amylase daily biorhythms and geomagnetic activity daily rhythms.

ABSTRACT

In the series of experiments alpha-glycerophosphate dehydrogenase activity was daily determined at the same time by cytochemical method in the peripheral lymphocyte of normal rats and those with Walker carcinosarcoma. Using an original algorithm a hierarchy of biorhythms was singled out on a computer according to the individual changes in alpha-glycerophosphate dehydrogenase activity in each rat. It was shown that tumor development resulted in the reduction of the mean level of alpha-glycerophosphate dehydrogenase activity and considerable changes in diverse rhythms. Particular attention is paid to the phase changes, which can reveal changes in phase coordination of glycerophosphate shuttle cycle components.

ABSTRACT

The concentration of total, free and bound cholesterol in the blood serum of 13 intact Chinchilla male rabbits was determined in two four-month experiments carried out in 1973-1974 and in 1984-1985 during a "minimum" phase of an 11-year solar activity cycle. A hierarchy of ten cholesterol biorhythms and solar activity rhythms were singled out on a computer, using an original algorithm, in the individual changes in cholesterol concentration in each rabbit and in changes in seven environmental indexes. A statistical stability of the frequency and phase of low-frequency cholesterol biorhythms and solar activity rhythms has been established within an 11-year period, the fluctuation amplitude of the indexes studied being, on the contrary, statistically unstable.

ABSTRACT

In the course of 64 days the calcium concentration was daily determined in the blood serum of 6 male rabbits. From the first to the 32nd day round of research the rabbits were intact, and from the 33rd to 64th day round they were singularly immunized with human antimeasles gamma-globulin. With the help of the original algorithm the monthly rhythms' hierarchy was determined in the individual calcium dynamics as well as in the dynamics of synchronously measured solar activity indexes. It is discovered that singular immunization turned the 10-day calcium biorhythms' phase in reverse direction failing to affect the mean level, period length and the amplitude of them. Normal half-month calcium biorhythms stood in an anti-phase position to the analogous Wolf numbers' change and solar radio emanation in the wave of 2800 MHz rhythms.

ABSTRACT

Theoretical grounds are presented for some methods (administration of isotope and time of sacrifying the animal, estimation of radioactivity in ther material examined, and mathematical processing of the data obtained) with which radioactive water is used as a universal precursor for the study of the integral rates of metabolism in various organs and biochemical components of the body. An analysis of the dynamics of tritium inclusion into the water of the blood and urine of the control animals and of those with experimentally induced atherosclerosis permitted to establish that the development of hypercholesterinemia is accompanied by a decrase (by 26%) of the rate of autorenuewal of the water phase of the macroorganism, one of its causes consisting in an enhanced hydrophility of the tissues in cases of this pathology. A monthly periodicity was noted in the changes of the tritium concentration in the body waters of rabbits, as well as its correlation with the periodical changes in the concentration of serum cholesterol during the development of experimental atherosclerosis. It is suggested that the water and cholesterol metabolism have a joint centralized regulation in the body which essence consists in maintaining the rhythm of each separate kind of metabolism for its synchronization with the other kinds of metabolism in unfavourable outer and inner situations for the macroorganism.
