ABSTRACT
A scheme with a nurse and psychologist working in tandem favours the development of interesting crossover collaboration in the care of patients suffering from cancer, at the end of life. The support available for patients and their family is thereby strengthened. By supporting each other, the caregivers are better equipped to deal with the emotional issues.

Health professionals are confronted with suffering and complex life situations. By maintaining a good professional distance they can provide patients and their families with proper care. However, caregivers' practice may be infiltrated with unconscious affects echoing personnel events. Dialogue and listening on the part of the nursing team can resolve these situations.

Psychologist-nurse, a rewarding collaboration. The collaboration between nurses and psychologists is relatively recent within healthcare institutes. Gaining maximum value from such a collaboration requires solid knowledge of the roles and the limits of each profession as well as a real desire to work together, for the benefit of the greater well-being of the patient and, indirectly, of the teams.
