ABSTRACT
En la asistencia a pacientes afectados por traumatismopenetrante en el medio extrahospitalario debemos seguirunas premisas básicas: a) rapidez en la asistencia sanitaria;b) seleccionar el recurso de transporte idóneo al centro dereferencia; y c) derivación a centro útil, en las cuales elservicio HEMS tiene un papel preponderante. Se realizauna revisión bibliográfica de la atención inicial del traumapenetrante y, además, se presenta un caso clínico de unvarón de 40 años con traumatismo penetrante en tórax yglúteo sin afectación vascular ni visceral significativa perocon ocupación del canal medular.
