Este artigo tratará de examinar a verdade em Freud. Nosso intuito é de demonstrar que se há um conceito de verdade na obra de Freud é circunscrito pelo conceito de verdade histórica, presente em seu livro Moisés e o monoteísmo (1939). Nossa hipótese é de que a verdade histórica está sempre vinculada ao sujeito do inconsciente e se distingue da verdade da história factual.O artigo trabalha também a seguinte formulação: se uma verdade é recalcada, esquecida na história e pela história, trata-se do assassinato do pai da horda e que se repete em Moisés.(AU)

This article examines truth in Freud.Our intention is to demonstrate that if there is a concept of truth in Freud's work, then it is circumscribed by the concept of historical truth, present in his book Moses and Monotheism (1939). Our hypothesesis is that historical truth is always linked to the subject of the unconscious and is to be distinguished from the truth of factual history. The article also works the following formulation: repressed truth which was forgotten in history and by history, is the murder of the father of the primal horde, and that is repeated in Moses.(AU)

Peer review in class: metrics and variations in a senior course.

Peer reviews are the generally accepted mode of quality assessment in scholarly communities; however, they are rarely used for evaluation at college levels. Over a period of 5 years, we have performed a peer review simulation at a senior level course in molecular genetics at the University of Guelph and have accumulated 393 student peer reviews. We have used these to generate a summary of the metrics of this exercise. Our calculations show that student peer marks are highly variable and not suitable for numerical performance evaluation at the university level. On the other hand, student peer reviews can clearly recognize substandard performance. Hence, peer reviews can be used for the assessment of "pass/fail" type of assignments. Interestingly, student peers struggle to distinguish between good and excellent performance. These finding provide provocative insight on the process of peer review in general. We comment on the implications of this in-class simulation for research communities and on potential pitfalls of peer reviews.

Breve história da Reforma Psiquiátrica para uma melhor compreensão da questão atual / Brief history of the Psychiatric Reform for a better comprehension of the current debate

O presente artigo visa fornecer um breve histórico do que se convencionou denominar Reforma Psiquiátrica,partindo do pressuposto de que a psiquiatria moderna, como especialidade médica, nasceu com uma reforma que seria, portanto, um conceito intrínseco a ela. Das várias nuanças do termo, em particular, nos desdobramentos nos anos 1950, na França, Inglaterra, Itália e Estados Unidos, visa-se depreender o campo instituído da Saúde Mental - dos manuais de Psiquiatria à Psicanálise, passando pelas Políticas da saúde pública -, supondo que o conhecimento da história possa trazer instrumentos para uma melhor compreensão do que se apresenta atualmente como tensão entre clínica e atenção psicossocial.

The article proposes a brief history of the so called Psychiatric Reforms. It begins with the idea that modem Psychiatry was bom as a reform which would, in consequence, be intrinsic to psychiatry. Plural nuances of the term are studied, particularly, those arisen from the movements in 1950 's and changes in Psychiatry occurred in France, England, ltaly and the United States. The instituted field fOr Mental Health will then be examined as a derivation from the effects of Psychiatric manuais and Psychoanalysis, as wellas public health politics, assuming that the fact of better knowledge of the history may provide instruments for a better comprehension than the actual one, which presents a tension between the clinic work and the psychological and social care.

Contribuição ao debate entre a psicanálise e a atual reforma psiquiátrica brasileira / Contribution to the discussion between psychoanalysis and the current Brazilian psychiatric reform

No presente artigo procuramos cingir um questionamento da incidência do discurso do mestre e do discurso universitário na atual reforma psiquiátrica brasileira, como também sobre a contribuição que o discurso do psicanalista pode ofertar a essa reforma, a partir da clínica. Para tanto, procuramos situar uma das nuanças do termo reforma psiquiátrica na história da psiquiatria. Recorremos a Lacan para trabalhar a teoria dos quatro discursos e comentamos um caso clínico, oriundo do atendimento em um dispositivo engendrado pela reforma psiquiátrica brasileira, uma residência terapêutica, a partir da clínica dos discursos, na qual é possível trabalhar a tese psicanalítica sobre o laço social.

This work analyses the incidence of the scholarly discourse and the university discourse in the current Brazilian Psychiatric Reform, as well as the contribution the psychoanalyst’s discourse can offer to such reform. To develop our proposal, we discuss a nuance of the term psychiatric reform in the history of psychiatry. We use Lacan’s theory to discuss the four discourses theory and to comment about a clinical case originated from an experience in a Brazilian Psychiatric Reform institution, the so called therapeutic residence. The observations are analyzed in relation to the Lacanian concept of discourses through which it is possible to discuss the psychoanalytical thesis on social bonds.
