ABSTRACT

Coronavirus disease 2019 is an infectious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2); it has recently been associated with several hematologic disorders. A 4-year-old boy who had SARS-CoV-2 10 months prior was admitted to the emergency department of our hospital with seizures. His SARS-CoV-2 IgG II level was 885.7 AU/mL. Neuroimaging with cranial computed tomography after admission showed abnormal images of the venous sinus, but this was not sufficient to diagnose cerebral venous sinus thrombosis. Therefore, magnetic resonance imaging and digital subtraction angiography were conducted, which confirmed the diagnosis. He was treated with thrombectomy and anticoagulation drugs, and the clinical outcomes were satisfactory. Because our patient had a medical history of SARS-CoV-2 and exhibited no other risk factors, we present this case as evidence of a potential association between cerebral venous sinus thrombosis and SARS-CoV-2.

ABSTRACT

Background: Two concurrent instances of acute large vessel occlusion identified in two circulation systems is rare and associated with poor clinical outcomes. The complex vascular anatomy and chronic lesions involving extracranial or intracranial vessels may make classical anterograde approaches through parent vessels quite challenging. Besides, the effective treatment is required complicated and risky endovascular techniques. The cross-circulation approach, which consists of primary catheterization of the target artery from the contralateral side or the opposite cerebral circulation system, provides an alternative endovascular route when anterograde intervention is not feasible. This approach helps to save time, enhance the efficiency, and improve the clinical prognosis of the patient. However, cross-circulation approaches are also associated with potential risks, such as long procedure times (puncture to recanalization), hemorrhagic complications, and thromboembolic events in unaffected arterial territories. We report the rare clinical case resolved by applying a posterior-to-anterior mechanical thrombectomy technique with intermediate catheter assistance. Case Description: A 67-year-old woman presented with basilar artery and right middle cerebral artery occlusion and underwent simultaneous mechanical thrombectomy of both occluded intracranial arteries. Antegrade access to the right middle cerebral artery thrombus was prevented by the discovery of a chronic occlusion in the right carotid artery. Cross-circulation thrombectomy via the right posterior communicating artery was performed successfully. Conclusions: Our findings indicate that cross-circulation stroke treatment may be beneficial in cases with chronic occlusion or complex vascular anatomies.

ABSTRACT

Coronary artery fistulas (CAFs) are abnormal connections of coronary arteries where venous circuits bypass the normal capillaries in the myocardium. CAFs are rare, and most patients are asymptomatic. However, CAFs are the most common coronary artery anomalies affecting coronary hemodynamics. While most CAFs are asymptomatic in young patients, symptoms and complications become more frequent with increasing age. CAFs are characterized by variable clinical manifestations based on their size, origin, and drainage site. We describe a 35-year-old woman presenting with the shortness of breath after walking. Despite attempting medical treatment, the patient continued to experience dyspnea, fatigue, fainting the and chest pain episodes. After admission, cardiac imaging was immediately performed and recorded symptomatic CAFs. Percutaneous transcatheter closure treatment was indicated. The patient was discharged with clinical recovery. The treatment of symptomatic CAFs often requires the clear cardiac imaging and endovascular approach to achieve the best clinical results.

ABSTRACT

Top-of-the-basilar artery occlusion frequently causes infarction of the midbrain, thalamus, and portions of the temporal and occipital lobes as the vascular supply of these regions comes from the posterior communicating and posterior cerebral arterial tributaries of the basilar artery. Clinical signs include an array of visual, oculomotor, and behavioral abnormalities, usually without prominent motor dysfunction, which makes diagnosis challenging for those inexperienced with these sign. We describe a 59-year-old male presenting with acute ischemic stroke due to top-of-the-basilar artery occlusion. Despite attempting several paraclinical examinations relating the sudden coma with Glasgow Coma Scale of 6 points, the neuroimaging detected the large vessel occlusion that was difficult to recognize. After confirming top-of-the-basilar artery occlusion, the recanalization was realized immediately. The patient was discharged with good clinical recovery.

ABSTRACT

Beryllium is a vital alkaline-earth metal for plasma physics, space science, and nuclear technology. Unfortunately, its accurate phase diagram is clouded by many controversial results, even though solid beryllium can only exist with hcp or bcc crystalline structures. Herein, we offer a simple quantum-statistical solution to the above problem. Our core idea is to develop the moment expansion technique to determine the Helmholtz free energy under extreme conditions. This strategy helps elucidate the underlying correlation among symmetric characteristics, vibrational excitations, and physical stabilities. In particular, our analyses reveal that the appearance of anharmonic effects forcefully straightens up the hcp-bcc boundary. This phenomenon explains why it has been difficult to detect bcc signatures via diamond-anvil-cell measurements. Besides, we modify the work-heat equivalence principle to quickly obtain the high-pressure melting profile from the room-temperature equation of state. The hcp-bcc-liquid triple point of beryllium is found at 165 GPa and 4559 K. Our theoretical findings agree excellently with cutting-edge ab initio simulations adopting the phonon quasiparticle method and the thermodynamic integration. Finally, we consider the principal Hugoniot curve and its secondary branches to explore the behaviors of beryllium under shock compression. Our predictions would be advantageous for designing inertial-confinement-fusion experiments.

ABSTRACT

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is caused by an external mechanical force to the head resulting in alteration of brain function. However, the injury to neural tracts and the connections between them is difficult to diagnose using traditional imaging techniques. A 54-year-old woman visited our clinic because of insufficient coordination of her body. Her personal history included severe TBI with a 10-day coma medically treated 10 years previously. She presented with memory impairment and insufficient coordination of her body, suggesting post-concussion syndrome. Her Glasgow Coma Scale score was 15 and the strength testing result was 5/5 for both sides; however, she could not walk. She had been examined at many medical centers, but without a diagnosis of her condition. She was scanned using morphometric magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), which detected a significant reduction in the corpus callosum. MRI-diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) revealed decreased fractional anisotropy (FA) in the white matter of the right temporal lobe and the corpus callosum. FA reflects the degree of anisotropy of water molecules. The decrease in FA in the corpus callosum indicated loss of connection between the 2 hemispheres. MRI tractography was used to describe the number of neural tracts in the corpus callosum. MRI-DTI and MRI tractography served as powerful diagnostic tools, providing imaging results that offered an explanation for our patient's clinical picture.

ABSTRACT

Head and neck arteriovenous malformations are rare, congenital, and high-flow vascular malformations characterized by abnormal communication between feeding arteries and draining veins without intervening capillaries. Arteriovenous malformations are considered the most dangerous type of vascular malformation because progressive symptoms and infiltration can result in potentially life-threatening consequences. Left untreated, arteriovenous malformations can cause significant cosmetic deformities, severe bleeding, and high-output cardiac failure associated with arteriovenous shunting. The effective treatment of arteriovenous malformations located in the head and neck region is quite challenging due to high rates of recurrence and potentially lethal complications. We describe a case presenting with large arteriovenous malformations in the face and neck. Despite attempting several treatments, including external carotid artery ligation and embolization with liquid embolic agents, the patient continued to experience recurrence and symptoms of bleeding and pain. After admission, reconstructive plastic surgery was performed, supplemented by percutaneous direct puncture embolization, using glue injected into the venous and transarterial embolization. The patient was discharged with clinical recovery. Digital subtraction angiography remains the gold standard for assessing symptomatic and aggressive arteriovenous malformations, both before and after treatment. The treatment of head and neck arteriovenous malformations often requires a multidisciplinary approach to achieve the best clinical results.

Background: Coronary artery fistulas (CAFs), also, known as coronary arteriovenous malformation, are aberrant connections between coronary arteries and other structures, such as other artery branches or heart chambers. CAFs are infrequent and asymptomatic in young patients, but symptoms and complications become more frequent with age. CAFs can affect hemodynamic parameters and lead to complications, such as myocardial ischemia, heart failure, arrhythmia, and infective endocarditis. Objective: The aim of this article was to present a typical CAF case with severe symptoms who underwent successful embolization to resolve their symptoms. Case presentation: A 50-year-old Vietnamese male visited our cardiac outpatient clinic (S.I.S General Hospital, Can Tho, Vietnam) because of exertional dyspnea and chest pain. Signs of congestive heart failure and abnormal murmur were not presented on chest auscultation. Diagnostic digital subtraction angiography was performed to determine the detailed angioarchitecture of the CAF, revealing a fistulous connection between the left anterior descending artery (LAD) and the LV chamber through an aneurysm. In addition, the RCA measured 7 mm in diameter with a fistula (16 × 9 mm) draining into an aneurysm and then terminating into the LV chamber. The patient had an RCA aneurysm with a fistula into the LV. It was treated successfully by closing the fistula with a vascular plug. Access to the fistula was complex and difficult because of complications due to the CAF. After the procedure, the patient had no chest pain or shortness of breath and was discharged after three days. After six months, he was taking dual antiplatelet therapy and antihypertensive medications and felt better. We performed contrast computed tomography (CT) to examine the fistula after a year, which showed the successful closure of the fistula without any relevant alteration in the coronary artery. Conclusion: CAF closure is indicated if patients have symptoms or secondary complications, and percutaneous closure is a safe and effective method to manage CAF. A CAF is rare and does not have specific symptoms, making it difficult to diagnose. Most patients are asymptomatic and have serious recent complications. Currently, the percutaneous transcatheter method is popular because it is noninvasive and successful in most patients.

ABSTRACT

Background and Objectives: Identification of pnemococcal serotypes and antimicrobial resistance provides helpful information for the use of suitable vaccines and antibiotics; however, very limited data is available on these issues in Vietnam. The present study aimed to find the serotype distribution and drug resistance patterns of Streptococcus pneumoniae isolated from unvaccinated children less than 5 years of age with pneumonia at a province in centre Vietnam. Materials and Methods: A total of 126 clinical pnemococcal strains isolated from unvaccinated children less than 5 years of age with pneumonia at the Nghe An province, Vietnam between Nov 2019 and Mar 2021. All strains were identified using conventional microbiological method, VITEK® 2 Compact system, specific PCR and sequencing. The serotypes and antimicrobial resistance patterns of pnemococcal strains were determined using the multiplex PCR assays and VITEK® 2 Compact system. Results: The results showed that, eight different pneumococcal serotypes were identified. The most common serotypes were 19F (67.46%), followed by 23F (10.32%), 19A (9.52%), 6A/B (3.17%), 15A (2.38%), 9V (3.17%), 11A (1.59%) and 14 (0.80%), respectively. More than half of the pneumococcal strains were non-susceptible to penicillin. The resistance rate to ceftriaxone and cefotaxime were 41.3% and 50.8%. The percentage of pneumococci strains resistant to clarithromycin, azithromycin, erythromycin, cotrimoxazole, tetracyclin, and clindamycin were more than 93% of all strains. All pneumococcal serotypes were highly resistant to clarithromycin, azithromycin, erythromycin, cotrimoxazole, and clindamycin. Conclusion: Our findings showed high antibiotic resistance rates of the strains causing pneumococcal pneumonia, mostly macrolide resistance, among unvaccinated children.

ABSTRACT

Aedes aegypti (Linnaeus, 1762) is the main mosquito vector for dengue and other arboviral infectious diseases. Control of this important vector highly relies on the use of insecticides, especially pyrethroids. The high frequency (>78%) of the L982W substitution was detected at the target site of the pyrethroid insecticide, the voltage-gated sodium channel (Vgsc) of A. aegypti collected from Vietnam and Cambodia. Alleles having concomitant mutations L982W + F1534C and V1016G + F1534C were also confirmed in both countries, and their frequency was high (>90%) in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Strains having these alleles exhibited substantially higher levels of pyrethroid resistance than any other field population ever reported. The L982W substitution has never been detected in any country of the Indochina Peninsula except Vietnam and Cambodia, but it may be spreading to other areas of Asia, which can cause an unprecedentedly serious threat to the control of dengue fever as well as other Aedes-borne infectious diseases.

ABSTRACT

Current treatment options for high-risk patients with severe carotid artery stenosis include transcarotid artery revascularization, transfemoral carotid artery stenting, and carotid endarterectomy. Transfemoral carotid artery stenting is associated with high perioperative stroke risk, and recent studies and trials have identified transcarotid artery revascularization as a new technique able to minimize the stroke risk associated with high-risk procedures. Moreover, the transcervical approach allows easy access to the carotid artery in cases with an anatomically tortuous aortic arch. Therefore, determining the optimal approach to achieve arterial access during carotid stenting is important for successful procedures and positive outcomes. We report a clinical case of ischemic stroke due to severe stenosis of the left internal carotid artery indicated for stent deployment. After transfemoral carotid artery stenting failure, the patient's symptoms progressed from minor stroke to hemiplegia and Broca's aphasia. The transcervical approach was used to perform transcarotid artery revascularization after several days. The procedure was both safe and prevented recurrent stroke occurrence. Although transfemoral access is the classic approach used for carotid stenting, the transcervical approach can be used as an alternative and safe choice in cases with complex vascular anatomy, such as the one described here.

Aneurysms in the posterior circulation and distal sites are more common among the pediatric population than among adults, with a male predominance. Symptoms of an aneurysm in the posterior circulation can include a stiff neck or severe headache due to a ruptured aneurysm, whereas an unruptured aneurysm can cause mass effects or neurological deficits. However, in children, the complete occlusion of the aneurysm while preserving the flow of the main artery can be difficult to achieve when attempting a stent-assisted coil embolization technique. A 25-month-old girl presented with left hemiparesis and was diagnosed with a basilar artery aneurysm 10 months prior, but she did not receive any specific treatment. No history of trauma and no significant familial history were recorded. Angiography showed a fusiform aneurysm on the basilar artery trunk, which was successfully occluded using stent-assisted coiling following dual antiplatelet therapy with clopidogrel and aspirin. She was discharged with the complete restoration of motor deficits.

Bone mass is maintained by the balance between osteoclast-induced bone resorption and osteoblast-triggered bone formation. In inflammatory arthritis such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA), however, increased osteoclast differentiation and activity skew this balance resulting in progressive bone loss. O-GlcNAcylation is a posttranslational modification with attachment of a single O-linked ß-D-N-acetylglucosamine (O-GlcNAc) residue to serine or threonine residues of target proteins. Although O-GlcNAcylation is one of the most common protein modifications, its role in bone homeostasis has not been systematically investigated. We demonstrate that dynamic changes in O-GlcNAcylation are required for osteoclastogenesis. Increased O-GlcNAcylation promotes osteoclast differentiation during the early stages, whereas its downregulation is required for osteoclast maturation. At the molecular level, O-GlcNAcylation affects several pathways including oxidative phosphorylation and cell-cell fusion. TNFα fosters the dynamic regulation of O-GlcNAcylation to promote osteoclastogenesis in inflammatory arthritis. Targeted pharmaceutical or genetic inhibition of O-GlcNAc transferase (OGT) or O-GlcNAcase (OGA) arrests osteoclast differentiation during early stages of differentiation and during later maturation, respectively, and ameliorates bone loss in experimental arthritis. Knockdown of NUP153, an O-GlcNAcylation target, has similar effects as OGT inhibition and inhibits osteoclastogenesis. These findings highlight an important role of O-GlcNAcylation in osteoclastogenesis and may offer the potential to therapeutically interfere with pathologic bone resorption.

ABSTRACT

The augmentation of clozapine with electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) has been an optimal treatment option for patients with treatment- or clozapine-resistant schizophrenia. Using data from the Research on Asian Psychotropic Prescription Patterns for Antipsychotics survey, which was the largest international psychiatry research collaboration in Asia, our study aimed to develop a machine learning algorithm-based substantial prediction model for the augmented use of clozapine with ECT in patients with schizophrenia in terms of precision medicine. A random forest model and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) model were used to develop a substantial prediction model for the augmented use of clozapine with ECT. Among the 3744 Asian patients with schizophrenia, those treated with a combination of clozapine and ECT were characterized by significantly greater proportions of females and inpatients, a longer duration of illness, and a greater prevalence of negative symptoms and social or occupational dysfunction than those not treated. In the random forest model, the area under the curve (AUC), which was the most preferred indicator of the prediction model, was 0.774. The overall accuracy was 0.817 (95% confidence interval, 0.793−0.839). Inpatient status was the most important variable in the substantial prediction model, followed by BMI, age, social or occupational dysfunction, persistent symptoms, illness duration > 20 years, and others. Furthermore, the AUC and overall accuracy of the LASSO model were 0.831 and 0.644 (95% CI, 0.615−0.672), respectively. Despite the subtle differences in both AUC and overall accuracy of the random forest model and LASSO model, the important variables were commonly shared by the two models. Using the machine learning algorithm, our findings allow the development of a substantial prediction model for the augmented use of clozapine with ECT in Asian patients with schizophrenia. This substantial prediction model can support further studies to develop a substantial prediction model for the augmented use of clozapine with ECT in patients with schizophrenia in a strict epidemiological context.

Vacancies are prevalent point defects in crystals, but their thermal responses are elusive. Herein, we formulate a simple theoretical model to shed light on the vacancy evolution during heating. Vibrational excitations are thoroughly investigated via moment recurrence techniques in quantum statistical mechanics. On that basis, we carry out numerical analyses for Ag, Cu, and Ni with the Sutton-Chen many-body potential. Our results reveal that the well-known Arrhenius law is insufficient to describe the proliferation of vacancies. Specifically, anharmonic effects lead to a strong nonlinearity in the Gibbs energy of vacancy formation. Our physical picture is well supported by previous simulations and experiments.

ABSTRACT: The aim of this study is to compare the clinical outcomes and to identify risk factors for emergent cesarean delivery and planned cesarean delivery in patients with placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) disorders in Vietnam.The medical records of patients admitted to our hospital with a diagnosis of PAS disorders >5 years were retrospectively reviewed.A total of 255 patients with PAS disorders were identified, including 95 cases in the emergent delivery group and 160 cases in the planned delivery group. The percentage of complete/partial placenta previa in the planned delivery group was significantly higher than that in the emergent delivery group (59.22% vs 32.16%, P = .027). Fewer patients in the planned group had vaginal bleeding compared with those in the emergent group (29 vs 36 cases, P < .001). The percentage of blood transfusion was similar between the 2 groups; however, the transfused units of pack red blood cells were greater in the emergent delivery group (5.3 ±â€Š0.33 vs 4.5 ±â€Š0.25 U, P = .036). When considering the neonatal outcomes, the data demonstrated that the planned delivery group had a significantly higher birth weight and a lower rate of preterm delivery than the emergent group (P < .001). The mean gestational age at delivery for the emergent group was 35.1 ±â€Š0.27 weeks compared with 38.0 ±â€Š0.10 weeks for the planned group (P < .001). The increased risk factors for emergent delivery were vaginal bleeding (odds ratio 2.86, 95% confidence interval 1.59-5.26) and preterm delivery (odds ratio 5.26, 95% confidence interval 2.13-14.29).Planned delivery is strongly associated with a lower need for blood transfusion and better neonatal outcomes compared with emergent delivery. Antenatal vaginal bleeding and preterm labor are risk factors for emergent delivery among patients with PAS disorders. Based on the results of this study, we recommend that the management strategies for patients with PAS disorders should be individualized to determine the optimal timing of delivery and to decrease the rate of emergent cesarean delivery.

Objective To examine the prevalence of all chromosomal defects amongst fetuses with increased nuchal translucency thickness (NT). Methods This is a retrospective study amongst pregnant women indicated for amniocentesis by nuchal translucency above 3.0 mm and consent to the study. A total of 2,720 cases were recruited during the six-year period from 2015 to 2020. All singleton pregnancies were offered fetal karyotype when the fetal nuchal translucency was ≥2.5 mm. The prevalence of chromosomal defects was divided into five NT categories: 2.5-3.4 mm, 3.5-4.4 mm, 4.5-5.4 mm, 5.5-6.4 mm, ≥6.5 mm. Results The study identified 2,720 amniocentesis for increased NT. The mean maternal age was 29.19 (range 17-46) years, and the mean fetal crown-rump length was 66.9 (range 45-84) mm. The fetal karyotype was abnormal in 560 (20.6%) participants. The most frequent chromosomal disorders were trisomy 21 (55%), trisomy 18 (11.2%), trisomy 13 (3.9%), 45,XO (2.7%). The prevalence of chromosomal aberrations was ranged from 17.9% (NT between 2.5-3.4 mm) to 29.7% (NT≥6.5 mm). A majority of fetuses with trisomy 13, 18, or 21 has NT measurement lower than 5.5 mm. In those with Turner syndrome, there was no difference between the group with NT <5.5 mm and the group with NT ≥5.5 mm. Increased maternal age is a risk factor for chromosomal aberrations with the rate increased from 17.6% at the youngest maternal age of 30-34 to 34% at maternal age of 35-39 and to 50% at maternal age of ≥40. Conclusion In fetuses with increased NT, more than a half of the chromosomal abnormalities were affected by defects other than trisomy 21. The distribution of NT was different between Turner syndrome and trisomy 13, 18, 21 syndromes. Women aged 35 years or older had a higher risk of chromosomal aberrations.

ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION: Leiomyomatosis peritonealis disseminata (LPD) is a rare disease that can be challenging to diagnose. In this report, we present a case of LPD arising 5 years after laparoscopic uterine myomectomy using a power morcellator. PRESENTATION OF CASE: A 32-year-old woman was admitted to our hospital with complaints of vaginal bleeding and abdominal discomfort. Five years previously, she had undergone laparoscopic uterine myomectomy using a power morcellator. Pelvic ultrasonography and magnetic resonance imaging demonstrated multiple pelvic tumors closely attached to peritoneum with no indication of malignancy. An exploratory laparotomy revealed multiple sites of leiomyomatosis in the peritoneum, especially on the parietal peritoneum at the port site of the previous laparoscopic surgery. We surgically removed all visible tumors and performed a total hysterectomy. Histologic examination confirmed the diagnosis of LPD. DISCUSSION: The use of a power morcellator without in-bag containment system might have played a role in the pathogenesis of LPD in our case. Ultrasonography, computed tomography, and MRI are among the most effective to distinguish between leiomyomas and other solid tumors in the pelvis, but they are not of great help in the differential diagnosis of malignancies. CONCLUSION: The physicians need to combine medical history, clinical findings, imaging techniques and histopathological examination to establish a correct diagnosis of LPD. The application of containment bags in the setting of power morcellation should be considered to reduce the risk of developing LPD. The optimal intervention strategy should be chosen according to the particular features of each patient.

ABSTRACT

Biomass, one of the renewable resources, is expected to play an important role in the world's energy future. In Asia, rice straw is an abundant agricultural surplus because rice is one of the leading staple food crops in the region. Often, rice straw is burned directly in the field via uncontrolled combustion methods that emit large amounts of short-lived air pollutants, greenhouse gases, and other pollutants. In Vietnam, the energy and environment protection sectors are facing great challenges because of rapid urbanisation and industrialisation. A national strategic choice is to exploit renewable energy, including biomass-derived energy, to achieve energy security and CO2 emission reduction. This study investigates the potential of rice straw as an energy source for power plants at a local scale in Vietnam using data derived from satellite Sentinel-1 images. The results show that Vietnam can produce 2,565 MW from rice straw, for which 24 out of 63 provinces have a potential capacity higher than 30 MW, and the Kien Giang province has the highest capacity (245 MW). The study also analyses limitations and obstacles overcoming which can promote the biomass energy sector in the country.

ABSTRACT

Nitrous oxide (N2O) is a weak anesthetic gas that was first used in 1844 in the field of dental anesthesia. However, currently, N2O is being abused for entertainment purposes in the form of N2O-filled balloons, called funky balls, which can cause many adverse effects, especially nervous system injury. This study aimed to investigate the detailed clinical and subclinical features associated with N2O intoxication. We retrospectively reviewed 47 patients diagnosed with N2O intoxication, from May 2018 to July 2019, and collected demographic data, clinical and laboratory tests, and spinal cord magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings. The mean time of funky ball use was 8.8 months, with a mean use of 36.3 balls per day. All patients presented with superficial sensory disorders. Reductions in muscle strength, decreased vibration sensation, and decreased or lost tendon reflexes were the most common clinical signs of N2O intoxication. Romberg sign and Lhermitte sign were observed in 39 patients (83%) and 21 patients (44.7%), respectively. Spinal cord lesions on MRI were observed in 32 patients (68.1%), which mostly presented with an inverted V sign. The total duration of N2O use, the number of days of using N2O per week, and the presence of Lhermitte sign (P<0.05) were significantly different between patients with and without spinal cord lesions on MRI. Serum levels of homocysteine and vitamin B12 were significantly different between the time of admission and discharge (P<0.05). Our study indicated that the days of using N2O per week was significantly associated with Spinal Cord Injuries (SCI) on MRI. According to the Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curve analysis, a cutoff days of using per week value of 2.5 days could predict SCI with a sensitivity of 81.3%, a specificity of 73.3%, and an area under the ROC curve (AUC) of 0.813. Changes in the serum levels of homocysteine and vitamin B12 were effective markers for the evaluation of treatment response.
