ABSTRACT
The collisionless Landau damping is analyzed for a homogeneous plasma with a sinusoidal density perturbation. The exact damping values are obtained by numerically solving the kinetic dispersion relation of the electron plasma mode. Quantitative results are provided on the influence of the amplitude and the wave vector of the density modulation. Within a simplified fluid framework, a fit is given to these data.
ABSTRACT
Taenia saginata is a parasite of the gastrointestinal tract which is often encountered in France. Its responsibility in the occurrence of pulmonary eosinophilic infiltrates is only exceptionally suspected. We report a case of Loeffler's syndrome most probably caused by Taenia saginata. This case illustrates the diagnostic problems encountered to determine the responsibility of this cestode.

The authors report two cases of lung resection in patients with AIDS: left upper lobectomy for diagnosis and treatment of an active, localized lung lesion which proved to be tuberculosis and atypical resection of the right apex and pleurodesis for an infected pneumohydrothorax. The postoperative course was uneventful despite the fragile clinical context. The place of surgical indications for diagnostic purposes is reduced by the good results obtained with endoscopic investigations and limited to failures of these procedures and to pulmonary sarcomatous lesions. The place of therapeutic surgical indications is essentially reserved for pleural complications (pleurodesis, pleurectomy, pleurotomy). Surgery may be unjustified in tracheostomised patients at the stage of respiratory failure. It may have a small but effective role with reduced risk in active, localized lung lesions. The surgery must be performed according to simple and classical by very rigorous rules of protection for the operators and the environment.

The mean value of seric ceruloplasmin in 120 albino inhabitants of Cameroon is 36 +/- 10 mg/ 100 ml. It differs (P < 0,001) much significantly from the value observed (50 +/- 11 mg/100 ml) in a group of 71 registered melanodermic individuals. If compared to the melanodermic reference group, there is a significant increase of the seric ceruloplasmin value, in patients affected by inflammatory lung diseases, and a very significant difference with a group of pregnant women at delivery time.
