ABSTRACT

The purpose of the work is to determine the validity of the Net-Promoter-Score to measure loyalty and to compare two models that relate dimensions of quality, value, satisfaction and loyalty. First, the convergent validity of the Net-Promoter-Score in users of sports services was determined by means of a correlation between both instruments. Subsequently, the two models were put to the test, using a Net-Promoter-Score in the first and a multidimensional scale that measures future intentions in the second, in both cases the same instrument was used to assess quality, value and satisfaction. A confirmatory factor analysis of the models was carried out in order to verify the stability of both. The results obtained show that the two instruments are valid for measuring the loyalty of users of sports services and the model that uses the multidemensional scale provides more information for decision-making by managers. ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION: In recent decades, attention has been directed at global theories that attempt to prevent childhood obesity by exposing them to healthy environments. The aim of this study was to analyze the influence of health-promoting environments in primary schools in Logroño (La Rioja, Spain) on the habits of school children. METHODS: The directors of the 31 primary schools in the city completed a questionnaire which examined the health promotion activities of their schools. In addition, anthropometric measurements, adherence to the Mediterranean diet, and sedentary and physical activity habits were recorded from a representative sample of 329 schoolchildren in the sixth year of primary education (11-12 year-olds). RESULTS: The majority of schools had developed nutritional and/or physical activity programs (77.4% and 61.3%, respectively); however, teachers had generally not received specific training in that area. Guidelines regarding healthy habits were not formally included in the School Educational Project. Physical activity, which was greater amongst boys (P<.001), was mostly promoted after school hours. The major influences on school children's physical activity and dietary habits of the children were training of teachers, existence of guidelines, and access to sports grounds (P<.05). CONCLUSIONS: Although further research is required, this study shows that certain modifiable aspects in the organizational or school environment can influence the habits of school children at a fundamental stage of their development.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: child overweight and obesity have become, in recent decades, an epidemic that affects developed countries in particular. Many increasingly negative health impacts are related to childhood obesity. The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of overweight and obese people in a city of northern Spain, and to identify the factors that influence this prevalence and its relationship with blood pressure. Material and methods: the study was conducted on a representative sample of 329 sixth-grade students (11-12 years) from the city of Logroño. Socio-demographic data, blood pressure, maturational development, body mass index, waist and hip circumferences, and triceps and subscapular skinfolds were obtained. Results: in all anthropometric measurements significant differences between people of average weight and overweight/obese people were found. The prevalence of overweight and obese people, according to international benchmarks, was 23.7% and 3.3%, respectively. This prevalence was higher in boys and students in public schools. Significant relationships between anthropometric variables and both systolic and diastolic blood pressure were found. Conclusions: the rates of overweight and obese people were similar to the rest of the country, with the highest rates found in male students and in those educated in public schools (AU)
