ABSTRACT

This study included analysis of the results of treatment of 136 patients at the age from 19 to 92 years presenting with pathological changes in the frontal sinuses. 126 of them had undergone surgery for the treatment of inflammatory diseases, osteomas, and injuries to the frontal sinuses in the preceding period. 62.7% of the patients in the latter group developed relapses of the disease; therefore, 44.1% of them needed the second operation. In order to improve the efficiency of treatment of chronic recurrent and postoperative frontitis, radical operation on the frontal sinuses in 56 patients was completed by obliteration of the sinus using the osteoplastic composite material MK-9M. Dynamic observations during the three subsequent years demonstrated stable recovery in all the 56 patients.

ABSTRACT

The scheme of conduction of the microvascular transplantation using double flap of shin and foot combined with musculus serratus anterior is adduced. The double combination consists of the transplant of medial shin surface and medial plantar fragment. The advantages of the proposed method (availability of thin hypodermic base, own sensitive nerve, united blood supply system, and also long vascular pedicle, resistance for the exercise load, possibility of linking up of the third complex, and, perhaps, minimal harm done to donor region) contrary to the transplantation of a piece transplant having large dimensions permit to apply more effectively the double flap for the supporting points of foot substitution.

ABSTRACT

The frequency of chloramphenicol-sensitive variants (Cmls) in Streptomyces lividans 66 is very high (0.57%). Correlation between chloramphenicol sensitivity and deamplification of PstI fragment with the length of 4.82 kb (RES1 genetic element) was shown. However, in some Cmls variants there was no RES1 deamplification. It was noted that in the cells of the Cmls variants isolated the levels of kanamycin and neomycin resistance determined by the Kanr determinant in the pSU17 plasmid were different. Expression of Kanr and Neor determinants inserted via pSU17 plasmid into the cells of Cmls variants was studied and three classes of chloramphenicol-sensitive variants were defined. After transformation of pSU17 plasmid into cells of Cmls variants of the class I, expression of Kanr and Neor genes, similar to that in S. lividans 66, was observed. The resistance level in Cmls variants of the class II was intermediate. In the cells of the class III no expression was noted. Cmls strains of classes I and II were unstable and those of the class III with impaired expression of Kanr and Neor genes were formed with high frequency. Cmlr variants formed from Cmls strain of the class III were studied. Two types of Cmlr variants were detected. Variants of the first type were identical to S. lividans 66 by their properties. The frequency of Cmls variants occurring in the cells of the first type was similar to that in S. lividans 66. The second type included pseudo-revertants. They were unstable and generated amplifications of the 5.7 kb fragment with high frequency.

ABSTRACT

The main variants of epitheliocytes have been studied, cambial cells have been distinguished. Existence of peculiar columnar cells of epidermal proliferative units have been demonstrated in the mammary gland. They determine honeycomb-shaped organization of the epithelial stratum of the glandular tree of the organ.

ABSTRACT

The results obtained by electron microscopy and information analysis showed microfocal aggregates of uniform poorly--differentiated round dark cells in breast tissue to be an evidence of a specific, border-line condition conducive to abrupt development of either mastopathy or cancer.

ABSTRACT

In 17% out of 671 cases of proliferative mastopathy, peculiar symmetrical complexes of pathological structures, proliferative centers (PC) were found. As they enlarged, their spherical shape changed and the structure became nonhomogeneous. In the epithelium of different PC both in their enlargement and from the periphery to the center the nucleus-cytoplasm index decreased, its variation coefficient increased. This is considered to be the evidence that PC are the early stage of dysplasia of the mammary gland when the stage of proliferation is overcome by the stage of structure formation. The symmetrical pattern of PC may be explained only by its derivation from the primary spherical group of cells, the "marginal" state of the tissue apparently common for dysplasia and carcinoma of the mammary gland.

ABSTRACT

The data on centrifugation of DNA in the density gradient of caesium chloride-ethidium bromide, electron microscopy and electrophoresis of the DNA restricts from the satellite gradient band indicate that Str. antibioticus, the oleandomycin-producing organism possessed extrachromosomal cyclic DNA with the molecular weight of 21.3. 10(6) +/- +/- 0.3 10(6) daltons. The extrachromosomal cyclic DNA had 7 identification sites for endonuclease BamHI, 5 sites for PstI, 12 sites for PvuII, more than 14 sites for SmaI and non for endonucleases Eco RI and HindIII.
