ABSTRACT

In this review the full occlusal protection theory is proposed and its clinical practice demonstrated for varying Angle's malocclusions. The concept of developing restorative anatomical shapes or bio-designing occlusal schemes of crowns to compensate for poor intra-arch tooth positioning is proposed and demonstrated. Clinical parameters for full occlusal protection in occlusal therapy are presented.

ABSTRACT

Occlusal reconstruction of both arches was performed using splinted implant crown pairs. Each pair of crowns was luted to parallel implant abutment pairs and these were screwed and glued into approximately parallel pairs of implant bodies. Paralleling of holes for implant body pairs was performed using a precision guiding device.

ABSTRACT

Each year in Australia, about 60 people report injuries attributable to lightning surges while using a telephone during nearby thunderstorms. This paper presents information about such incidents and describes a retrospective survey of more than 300 telephone users reporting injuries possibly attributable to lightning. Questionnaires yielded 132 usable responses, and the results were analysed to identify the extent and nature of the lightning injuries. These are compared with direct strike injuries. Three distinct telephone-mediated lightning strike syndromes are identified (statistically) among the victims.

ABSTRACT

A technique to provide cement spacing for cast post-cores prior to construction of their crowns is described. The axial lift of crowns cemented with zinc phosphate was greater, but not significantly, for crowns constructed on non-spaced post-cores compared with crowns constructed on spaced post-cores. Three materials were evaluated to determine their effectiveness in providing cement spacing for post-cores. The phenomenon of post-core 'wedging' during luting was identified.
