ABSTRACT
The lifestyle of schoolchildren in a large industrial town was studied in relation to the residence (industrial and administrative areas) and the type of an education establishment (general education schools and innovative education establishments). The spread of lifestyle defects (sleep and walk irregularities, inactivity, bad habits, employment) was shown to be higher in the schoolchildren living in the industrial areas, in general education school pupils in particular. That of lifestyle defects was higher in girls (sleep and diet irregularities, inactivity) than in boys. The findings provide evidence that there is a need for a differential approach to molding a healthy lifestyle in schoolchildren, by keeping in mind the environmental and socioeconomic situation of a residence, the type of an education establishment, age, and gender.

The physical development of schoolchildren living in different man-made load areas of Volgograd, a large industrial town and going to different educational establishments was studied and evaluated. There were more children with retarded biological development and morphofunctional abnormalities in the high man-made loaded areas. There were also differences in the physical development of pupils from different types of educational establishments: among the pupils of general educational schools there were more children with retarded biological development and morphofunctional abnormalities. These differences are greater in poor ecological areas.

The paper deals with the influence of different hygienic factors on the dental health status of 15-17-year-old schoolchildren living in Volgograd areas that have different levels of anthropogenic load. There has been a significantly higher prevalence of major dental diseases (caries, periodontal pathology, dentognatic anomalies, non-caries dentopathy) in schoolchildren who live in high anthropogenically loaded areas. Ranging of the factors has established that inadequate knowledge and skills of schoolchildren in personal oral hygiene, no motivation to preserve their dental health, and poor health and ecology are of priority in relation to the degree of their influence of their dental health.

The health status (somatic and reproductive functions) was studied in 15-17-year-old girls residing in different areas of an industrial city with varying anthropogenic loads mainly caused by chemicals. There were statistically significant differences in the health indices of the girls and their reproductive functions (menstrual function, development of genitals, the status of the viscera).
