ABSTRACT
It has been shown that men living in the Extreme North experience the tension of thermoregulation and its effectors. The main systems that maintain thermal balance of the body are the cardiovascular system and external respiration taking an active part in the processes of physical and chemical thermoregulation. The double load of the key system leads to non-economic and rapid spending of the functional reserves and risk of early development of disadaptation phenomena. The authors worded a scientific concept of the systemic organization in the maintenance of temperature constancy of the internal medium of man in the Extreme North, which permits estimating the degree of the participation of the subordinated subsystems in thermoregulatory processes.

The experimental and natural studies have revealed the role of the low-humidity Far-North environment in forming a specific heat-exchange pattern and corresponding functional and morphological changes in the organism, and have confirmed the biological and hygienic importance of the low-humidity environment.

Proceeding from the studies on the conditions of schoolchildren's work with video terminals during school lessons there was developed a complex of hygienic measures aimed at reduction of impact of factors specified by the work with video terminals and by anthropogenic pollution. Requirements to design of classrooms equipped by video terminals were listed and optimal and permissible ergonomic characteristics of the workplace established along with air temperature and humidity.
