Under consideration are results of treatment of fresh closed diaphyseal fractures of the forearm bones in 313 patients, 172 of them were given conservative treatment and 141 were treated surgically. It was shown that if the fractures can be set by closed means and fragments can be held in the correct position by a plaster bandage this method gives favorable outcomes in a considerably greater amount of cases than surgical methods. It allows the extremity function to be completely preserved in almost half of the patients. Unsatisfactory results were twice less frequent.
