The clinical picture and variants of the development hypoplasia of large bronchi in children are described on the basis of treatment of 12 children. Bronchoscopy and bronchography are the main methods of diagnosis of the disease. Twelve operations (4 of them plastic) are described. Specific features of the postoperative management of the patients are noted. Postoperative complications observed in two patients are analyzed.

Four stages of compression of the trachea were identified on the basis of the treatment of 18 patients. The regularity of the appearance of secondary and immediate signs was established. A phasic pattern of the development of stenosis was found to be characteristic of the acquired pathology, while congenital stenosis was characterized by a gradual growth of secondary changes in the broncho-pulmonary system. The principles of diagnosing the disease are described.
