ABSTRACT

Soil fungal community characteristics of alpine timberlines are unclear. In this study, soil fungal communities in five vegetation zones across timberlines on the south and north slopes of Sejila Mountain in Tibet, China were investigated. The results show that the alpha diversity of soil fungi was not different between the north- and south-facing timberlines or among the five vegetation zones. Archaeorhizomyces (Ascomycota) was a dominant genus at the south-facing timberline, whereas the ectomycorrhizal genus Russula (Basidiomycota) decreased with decreasing Abies georgei coverage and density at the north-facing timberline. Saprotrophic soil fungi were dominant, but their relative abundance changed little among the vegetation zones at the south timberline, whereas ectomycorrhizal fungi decreased with tree hosts at the north timberline. Soil fungal community characteristics were related to coverage and density, soil pH and ammonium nitrogen at the north timberline, whereas they had no associations with the vegetation and soil factors at the south timberline. In conclusion, timberline and A. georgei presence exerted apparent influences on the soil fungal community structure and function in this study. The findings may enhance our understanding of the distribution of soil fungal communities at the timberlines of Sejila Mountain.

ABSTRACT

In this paper, a new recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) was produced with composite coarse aggregate and fine recycled aggregate. The composite coarse aggregate was mixed into continuous gradation by large particle natural aggregate with small particle recycled aggregate. To explore the time-dependent developments of the compressive strength and splitting tensile strength of this new RAC, 320 groups of cubic specimens were tested at different curing ages from 3 days to 360 days to measure the compressive and splitting tensile strengths. The amount of large particle natural aggregate varied from zero to 70% in mass of the total coarse aggregate. The water/cement ratio was taken as 0.60, 0.49, 0.41 and 0.36 to represent four strength grades of the RAC at about C20, C30, C40 and C50. Based on the tested results, the curves of the compressive and tensile strengths of the RAC that changed with curing age are plotted, which clearly exhibit that the amount of large particle natural aggregate had a rational range in different strength grades of the RAC which had better aging strength. When the RAC was no larger than C30 with a water/cement ratio of 0.60 and 0.49, the amount of large particle natural aggregate should be no more than 30%; when the RAC was no less than C40 with a water/cement ratio of 0.41 and 0.36, the amount of large particle natural aggregate should be no less than 50%. Along with the general prediction of the strength development of all the tested RAC, the optimal predictive formulas are proposed for the strength development of RAC with a rational amount of natural aggregate. Meanwhile, the strength developments of RAC with a rational amount of natural aggregate are assessed by the time-dependent models proposed by the ACI Committee 209 and CEB-FIP MC 2010.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To explore the clinical effects of bronchial arterial infusion (BAI) with oleum fructus bruceae (OFB) Injection and chemotherapeutic agents (CTA) in treating advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). METHODS: One hundred and three patients with advanced NSCLC were randomized into 2 groups, the 98 patients in the treatment group treated by BAI with OFB + CTA and the 50 in the control group by BAI with CTA alone. The incidence of adverse reaction, change of tumor size and patients' quality of life (QOL) in the two groups were observed and compared. RESULTS: The objective effective rate (CR + PR) was 63.3% in the treatment group and 46.0% in the control group (P < 0.01); the median survival duration in them was 363 days and 305 days; the 1-year cumulative survival rate was 70.4% and 44.0%, and the QOF improving rate was 83.7% and 62.0% respectively, the difference between groups were all statistically significant (P < 0.01). In addition, the incidence of adverse reactions of digestive symptoms, bone marrow suppression and the hepato-, renal and cardiac toxicities were lower in the treatment group than those in the control group (P < 0.01). CONCLUSION: BAI with OFB + CTA in treating NSCLC could enhance the objective therapeutic effect of simple chemotherapy, as well as raise the QOL and protect immune and medulla function in patients.
