Single-tooth implant restorations are a demanding clinical endeavor. Predictable results can be achieved when clinicians adhere to a recommended protocol for placement and reconstruction. As the demand to use implants to replace single missing teeth increased, so did the demand for superior esthetic outcome and immediate insertion and loading. The present study presents a 6-year audit of single-tooth implant restorations at Riyadh Dental Centre with a survival probability of 93.8% after a 5-year period. The recent trend of immediate insertion and loading results was also encouraging but still needs technical refinement as well as long-term follow-up review between different protocols.

Diabetes mellitus is no longer considered to be a contraindication for implant-supported prostheses, provided that the patient's blood sugar is under control, and that there is motivation for oral hygiene procedures. This paper presents the experiences of treating diabetic patients using implants with good success rates.

Developmental absence of one or more teeth referred to as hypodontia is frequently encountered in dental practice, whereas severe hypodontia is a rare developmental dental anomaly. A case of severe hypodontia is presented. It was successfully treated with osseointegrated implants.

A case is reported of an extensive ossifying fibroma involving the mandible and its successful rehabilitation by using an osseointegrated implant. The lesion was enucleated under general anesthesia along with involved teeth Nos. 35, 36, 37, and 38. Regular radiographic follow-up showed complete bone healing within the period of two years. A free-end saddle removable partial denture was avoided by the appropriate use of root-form implants.

Oral rehabilitation is commonly difficult in cases of ectodermal dysplasia because the affected individuals are quite young when they are evaluated for treatment. Most affected children require extensive dental treatment in order to restore their appearance and help them develop a positive self-image. This article reviews the dental management of the disorder, including its psychosocial aspects and timing of different modalities.

The case reported illustrates a rare but interesting condition. Early treatment is the most important factor in decreasing the high morbidity associated with this infection. Aspiration is a key diagnostic tool for early diagnosis. Surgical intervention should be individually assessed and active physiotherapy is a must to resume normal function of the joint.

Primary hyperparathyroidism is due to benign or malignant neoplasia of one or more parathyroid glands, causing a wide spread osteoclastic resorption of bone with fibrous tissue replacement. A case of primary hyperparathyroidism involving mandible of a 16 year old Saudi female is being reported. The patient was terated by surgical intervention. This case supports the opinion that negative laboratory tests viz., calcium and phosphorus levels do not exclude the existence of hyperparathyroidism (normocalcaemic type).

In the present study, a series of cementum and bone specimens were examined both qualitatively and quantitatively with a view to establishing histological criteria which may help in differentiating cementum from bone. This is for the first time that differences in cellularity and width of fibre bundles between the lamellar bone and the cementum has been reported.
