ABSTRACT

A carbon nanotube-cobaloxime nanohybrid was prepared through supramolecular assembly of tailored polymerizable amphiphiles, leading to the coordination of cobalt on pyridine-coated nanotubes. This material was used as a catalyst for hydrogen evolution in fully aqueous media. This study provides a definitive asset regarding the stability of the pyridine-cobalt axial bond under H2 evolution turnover conditions.

ABSTRACT

A supramolecular heterogeneous catalyst was developed by assembly and stabilization of gold nanoparticles on the surface of carbon nanotubes. A layer-by-layer assembly strategy was used and the resulting nanohybrid was involved in the catalytic oxidation of hydroxylamines under mild conditions. The nanohybrid demonstrated high efficiency and selectivity on hydroxylamine substrates.

ABSTRACT

A carbon nanotube-gold nanohybrid was used as catalyst for the reduction of molecular oxygen in acidic and alkaline media, the relevant cathode reaction in fuel cells. In alkaline medium, the nanohybrid exhibits excellent activity with a dominant 4e(-) reduction of O2 and low overpotential requirement compared to previously reported nano-gold materials. This property is linked to its capability to efficiently mediate HO2(-) dismutation.
