ABSTRACT

Improving gas-liquid mass transfer efficiency in aeration systems contributes to energy savings, cost reduction, and enhanced efficiency in wastewater treatment. However, due to the complex nonlinear interactions among bubbles in turbulence, understanding the transport mechanisms of non-uniform bubble clusters in turbulence remains unclear. This study employs a combined approach of experimental research and numerical simulations to investigate the shape, diameter distribution, trajectory, and velocity of bubbles under different aeration port sizes and flow rates. The diameter distribution of bubble clusters exhibits a bimodal distribution. Bubble trajectories during ascent mainly exhibit two types of motion patterns: "Z" shaped and linear. Increasing aeration port size and flow rate both lead to an increase in the maximum bubble diameter. Higher initial flow rates and smaller port sizes induce greater lateral velocity fluctuations in bubbles. The proposed numerical simulation method serves as a reference for simulating the transport of non-uniform bubble clusters.

ABSTRACT

Previous studies have shown that scutellarin inhibits the excessive activation of microglia, reduces neuronal apoptosis, and exerts neuroprotective effects. However, whether scutellarin regulates activated microglia-mediated neuronal apoptosis and its mechanisms remains unclear. This study aimed to investigate whether scutellarin can attenuate PC12 cell apoptosis induced by activated microglia via the JAK2/STAT3 signalling pathway. Microglia were cultured in oxygen-glucose deprivation (OGD) medium, which acted as a conditioning medium (CM) to activate PC12 cells, to investigate the expression of apoptosis and JAK2/STAT3 signalling-related proteins. We observed that PC12 cells apoptosis in CM was significantly increased, the expression and fluorescence intensity of the pro-apoptotic protein Bax and apoptosis-related protein cleaved caspase-3 were increased, and expression of the anti-apoptotic protein B-cell lymphoma-2 (Bcl-2) was decreased. Phosphorylation levels and fluorescence intensity of the JAK2/STAT3 signalling pathway-related proteins JAK2 and STAT3 decreased. After treatment with scutellarin, PC12 cells apoptosis as well as cleaved caspase-3 and Bax protein expression and fluorescence intensity decreased. The expression and fluorescence intensity of Bcl-2, phosphorylated JAK2, and STAT3 increased. AG490, a specific inhibitor of the JAK2/STAT3 signalling pathway, was used. Our findings suggest that AG490 attenuates the effects of scutellarin. Our study revealed that scutellarin inhibited OGD-activated microglia-mediated PC12 cells apoptosis which was regulated via the JAK2/STAT3 signalling pathway.

ABSTRACT

The regulatory mechanism of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) in autophagy is as yet not well established. In this research, we show that the long non-coding RNA MLLT4 antisense RNA 1 (lncRNA MLLT4-AS1) is induced by the MTORC inhibitor PP242 and rapamycin in cervical cells. Overexpression of MLLT4-AS1 promotes autophagy and inhibits tumorigenesis and the migration of cervical cancer cells, whereas knockdown of MLLT4-AS1 attenuates PP242-induced autophagy. Mass spectrometry, RNA fluorescence in situ hybridization (RNA-FISH), and immunoprecipitation assays were performed to identify the direct interactions between MLLT4-AS1 and other associated targets, such as myosin-9 and autophagy-related 14(ATG14). MLLT4-AS1 was upregulated by H3K27ac modification with PP242 treatment, and knockdown of MLLT4-AS1 reversed autophagy by modulating ATG14 expression. Mechanically, MLLT4-AS1 was associated with the myosin-9 protein, which further promoted the transcription activity of the ATG14 gene. In conclusion, we demonstrated that MLLT4-AS1 acts as a potential tumor suppressor in cervical cancer by inducing autophagy, and H3K27ac modification-induced upregulation of MLLT4-AS1 could cause autophagy by associating with myosin-9 and promoting ATG14 transcription.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVES: To observe the effect of electroacupuncture (EA) at "Dazhui" (GV14) and "Jizhong"(GV6) of the Governor Vessel (GV) on mitochondrial fusion and neural stem cell (NSC) proliferation and differentiation in the spinal cord of rats with spinal cord injury (SCI), so as to investigate its mechanisms underlying improvement of SCI. METHODS: SD rats were randomly divided into sham operation, model and EA groups, with 15 rats in each group. The SCI model was established by using a precision impactor. EA (20 Hz/100 Hz, 1-2 mA) was applied to GV14 and GV6 for 30 min, once daily for 14 days. The rats' hindlimb locomotor function in each group was assessed using the Basso-Beattie-Bresnahan (BBB) locomotor scale. Histopathological changes of the injured spinal cord tissue and the number of neurons were evaluated after H.E. staining and Nissl staining. The expressions of Nestin, mitochondrial fusion-related protein optic atrophy-1 (OPA1) and NSC markers sex-determining region Y-box 2 (SOX2) in the injured spinal cord tissue were detected by immunofluorescence staining. The protein and mRNA expression levels of Nestin in the spinal cord tissue were detected by quantitative real-time PCR and Western blot, separately. RESULTS: Compared with the sham operation group, the BBB scores after modeling, and the number of neurons were significantly decreased (P<0.001), while the mean fluorescence intensity values of Nestin, SOX2 and OPA1, and the expressions of Nestin mRNA and protein considerably increased (P<0.001, P<0.01, P<0.05) in the model group. After EA intervention and in comparison with the model group, the BBB scores at the 7th and 14th day, the number of neurons, the mean fluorescence intensity values of Nestin, SOX2 and OPA1, and the expressions of Nestin mRNA and protein were strikingly increased (P<0.05, P<0.01, P<0.001) in the EA group. H.E. staining showed swollen, ruptured and necrotic neurons of the spinal cord, with a large number of vacuoles and severe inflammatory cell infiltration after modeling, which was relatively milder in the EA group. CONCLUSIONS: EA stimulation of GV14 and GV6 can promote the recovery of motor function in rats with SCI, which may be related to its effects in promoting mitochondrial fusion and enhancing the proliferation and differentiation of NSCs.

ABSTRACT

With the proliferation of social media, the detection of fake news has become a critical issue that poses a significant threat to society. The dissemination of fake information can lead to social harm and damage the credibility of information. To address this issue, deep learning has emerged as a promising approach, especially with the development of Natural Language Processing (NLP). This study introduces a novel approach called Graph Global Attention Network with Memory (GANM) for detecting fake news. This approach leverages NLP techniques to encode nodes with news context and user content. It employs three graph convolutional networks to extract informative features from the news propagation network and aggregates endogenous and exogenous user information. This methodology aims to address the challenge of identifying fake news within the context of social media. Innovatively, the GANM combines two strategies. First, a novel global attention mechanism with memory is employed in the GANM to learn the structural homogeneity of news propagation networks, which is the attention mechanism of a single graph with a history of all graphs. Second, we design a module for partial key information learning aggregation to emphasize the acquisition of partial key information in the graph and merge node-level embeddings with graph-level embeddings into fine-grained joint information. Our proposed method provides a new direction in news detection research with a combination of global and partial information and achieves promising performance on real-world datasets.

ABSTRACT

In recent years, with the increasing frequency of human engineering activities, the phenomenon of sodium sulfate erosion has been widely observed in the Loess Plateau. This not only leads to difficulties in land reclamation but also affects human health, posing a significant risk to the investment environment in the Northwest region of China. In this study, three types of loess were treated with sodium sulfate to prepare remolded soil samples with salt content levels of 0%, 0.5%, 1.0%, 1.5%, 2.0%, and 2.5%. Observations and tests were conducted at multiple scales. The results indicate significant differences in the structural characteristics of the three types of loess under the influence of sodium sulfate. The higher the salt content in the loess, the greater the degree of structural damage. Subsequently, macroscopic mechanical properties were determined through direct shear tests, and it was found that as the salt content in the loess increased, the strength decreased. The resulting macroscopic mechanical properties showed a strong correlation with the microstructural characteristics. This study provides valuable insights for soil and water conservation and geological disaster prevention in the Loess Plateau region.

ABSTRACT

Camellia taliensis (W. W. Smith) Melchior, belonging to the genus Camellia sect. Thea., is mainly distributed from northern Myanmar to western and southwestern Yunnan province of China, and its leaves have been used to make various teas by the locals of its growing regions. The chemical constituents of C. taliensis are significantly related to those of cultivated tea plants, C. sinensis and C. sinensis var. assamica. The HPLC-ESI-MS analysis of black tea prepared from the leaves of C. taliensis showed a rich existence of polyphenols. Further comprehensive chemical study led to the separation and recognition of 32 compounds (1-32), including one new hydrolyzable tannin, 1-O-galloyl-4,6-tetrahydroxydibenzofurandicarboxyl-ß-D-glucopyranose (1), and one new natural product (24). The known compounds referred to seven hydrolyzable tannins (2-8), 10 flavonols and glycosides (9-18), and 14 simple phenolics (19-32). Their structures were elucidated by comprehensive spectroscopic analyses. Among them, 20 compounds (2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 15, 17, 18, 20-22, 24-32) were isolated from black tea for the first time. Most isolates displayed obvious antioxidant activities on DPPH and ABTS+ assays, and the hydrolyzable tannins 1, 3-5, 7, and 8 exhibited stronger inhibitory activities on α-glycosidase than quercetin and acarbose (IC50 = 5.75 and 223.30 µM, respectively), with IC50 values ranging from 0.67 to 2.01 µM.

Landslide deposits often exhibit surface features, such as transverse ridges and X-shaped conjugate troughs, whose physical formation origins are not well understood. To study the deposit morphology, laboratory studies typically focus on the simplest landslide geometry: an inclined plane accelerating the sliding mass immediately followed by its deceleration on a horizontal plane. However, existing experiments have been conducted only for a limited range of the slope angle θ. Here, we study the effect of θ on the kinematics and deposit morphology of laboratory landslides along a low-friction base, measured using an advanced 3D scanner. At low θ (30°-35°), we find transverse ridges formed by overthrusting on the landslide deposits. At moderate θ (40°-55°), conjugate troughs form. A Mohr-Coulomb failure model predicts the angle enclosed by the X-shaped troughs as 90° - φ, with φ the internal friction angle, in agreement with our experiments and a natural landslide. This supports the speculation that conjugate troughs form due to failure associated with a triaxial shear stress. At high θ (60°-85°), a double-upheaval morphology forms because the rear of the sliding mass impacts the front during the transition from the slope to the horizontal plane. The overall surface area of the landslides increases during their downslope motion and then decreases during their runout.

Scutellarin, an herbal agent, is known to possess anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. In activated microglia, it has been reported that this is achieved through acting on the MAPKs, a key pathway that regulates microglia activation. This study sought to determine if scutellarin would affect the commonly described microglia phenotypes, namely, M1 and M2, thought to contribute to pro- and anti-inflammatory roles, respectively. This is in consideration of its potential effect on the polarization of microglia phenotypes that are featured prominently in cerebral ischemia. For this purpose, we have used an experimentally induced cerebral ischemia rat model and LPS-stimulated BV-2 cell model. Thus, by Western blot and immunofluorescence, we show here a noticeable increase in expression of M2 microglia markers, namely, CD206, Arg1, YM1/2, IL-4 and IL-10 in activated microglia both in vivo and in vitro. Besides, we have confirmed that Scutellarin upregulated expression of Arg1, IL-10 and IL-4 in medium supernatants of BV-2 microglia. Remarkably, scutellarin treatment markedly augmented the increased expression of the respective markers in activated microglia. It is therefore suggested scutellarin can exert the polarization of activated microglia from M1 to M2 phenotype. Because M1 microglia are commonly known to be proinflammatory, while M2 microglia are anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective effect, it stands to reason therefore that with the increase of M2 microglia which became predominant by scutellarin, the local inflammatory response is ameliorated. More importantly, we have found that scutellarin promotes the M2 polarization through inhibiting the JNK and p38 signaling pathways, and concomitantly augmenting the ERK1/2 signaling pathway. This lends its strong support from observations in LPS activated BV-2 microglia treated with p38 and JNK inhibitors in which expression of M2 markers was increased; on the other hand, in cells subjected to ERK1/2 inhibitor treatment, the expression was suppressed. In light of the above, MAPKs pathway is deemed to be a potential therapeutic target of scutellarin in mitigating microglia mediated neuroinflammation in activated microglia.

Group H Rotavirus (RVH) is associated with human diarrhea gastroenteritis. The interferon (IFN) response induced by RVH remains unclear. In this study, we first studied the characteristic feature of RVH and found J19 strain of RVH grew less efficiently compared with the G6P1 strain of RVA. Next, we found that infection with the J19 virus resulted in the secretion of IFN-λ1, but not IFN-ß, while both IFN-ß and IFN-λ1 could inhibit J19 replication significantly in Caco-2 cells. NSP1 played an important role in the suppression of type I and type III IFN response, and NSP5 protein significantly inhibited activation of IFN-λ1. J19 NSP1 suppressed the induction of IFN-ß obviously than G6P1 NSP1, while G6P1 NSP1 reduced IFN-λ1 induction to the greatest extent compared with G9P8, Wa, and J19 NSP1s. Our studies reveal the propagation feature of RVH and interferon induction and suppression by group H rotavirus.

ABSTRACT

Achieving transition-metal-catalyzed reactions of diene-ynes/diene-enes and carbon monoxide (CO) to deliver [4 + 2 + 1] cycloadducts, rather than the kinetically favored [2 + 2 + 1] products, is challenging. Here, we report that this can be solved by adding a cyclopropyl (CP) cap to the diene moiety of the original substrates. The resulting CP-capped diene-ynes/diene-enes can react with CO under Rh catalysis to give [4 + 2 + 1] cycloadducts exclusively without forming [2 + 2 + 1] products. This reaction has a broad scope and can be used to synthesize useful 5/7 bicycles with a CP moiety. Of the same importance, the CP moiety in the [4 + 2 + 1] cycloadducts can act as an intermediate group for further transformations so that other challenging bicyclic 5/7 and tricyclic 5/7/5, 5/7/6, and 5/7/7 skeletons, some of which are widely found in natural products, can be accessed. The mechanism of this [4 + 2 + 1] reaction has been investigated by quantum chemical calculations, and the role of the CP group in avoiding the possible side [2 + 2 + 1] reaction has been identified, showing that the [4 + 2 + 1] is controlled by releasing the ring strain in the methylenecyclopropyl (MCP) group (about 7 kcal/mol) in the CP-capped dienes.

Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) carries tumor-specific genetic and epigenetic variations. To identify extranodal natural killer/T cell lymphoma (ENKTL)-specific methylation markers and establish a diagnostic and prognosis prediction model for ENKTL, we describe the ENKTL-specific ctDNA methylation patterns by analyzing the methylation profiles of ENKTL plasma samples. We construct a diagnostic prediction model based on ctDNA methylation markers with both high specificity and sensitivity and close relevance to tumor staging and therapeutic response. Subsequently, we built a prognostic prediction model showing excellent performance, and its predictive accuracy is significantly better than the Ann Arbor staging and prognostic index of natural killer lymphoma (PINK) risk system. Notably, we further establish a PINK-C risk grading system to select individualized treatment for patients with different prognostic risks. In conclusion, these results suggest that ctDNA methylation markers are of great value in diagnosis, monitoring, and prognosis, which might have implications for clinical decision-making of patients with ENKTL.

PURPOSE: High explosives are used to produce blast waves to study their biological effects. The lungs are considered as the critical target organ in blast-effect studies. The degree of lung hemorrhaging is related to both the explosive power and the increased lung weight. We studied the characteristics of the biological effects from an air explosion of a thermobaric bomb in a high-altitude environment and the lethality and lung injury severity of goats in different orientations and distances. METHODS: Goats were placed at 2.5, 3, 4, and 5 m from the explosion center and exposed them to an air blast at an altitude of 4700-meter. A group of them standing oriented to the right side and the other group seated facing the explosion center vertically. The lung injuries were quantified according to the percentage of surface area contused, and using the pathologic severity scale of lung blast injury (PSSLBI) to score the 4 injury categories (slight, moderate, serious and severe) as 1, 2, 3, and 4, respectively. The lung coefficient (lung weight [g]/body weight [kg]) was the indicator of pulmonary edema and was related to lung injury severity. Blast overpressure data were collected using blast test devices placed at matching locations to represent loadings to goats. All statistical analyses were performed using SPSS, version 26.0, statistical software (SPSS, Inc., Chicago, IL, USA). RESULTS: In total, 127 goats were involved in this study. Right-side-standing goats had a significantly higher mortality rate than those seated vertical-facing (p < 0.05). At the 2.5 m distance, the goat mortality was nearly 100%, whereas at 5 m, all the goats survived. Lung injuries of the right-side-standing goats were 1 - 2 grades more serious than those of seated goats at the same distances, the scores of PSSLBI were significantly higher than the seated vertical-facing goats (p < 0.05). The lung coefficient of the right-side-standing goats were significantly higher than those of seated vertical-facing (p < 0.05). Mortality, PSSLBI, and the lung coefficient results indicated that the right-side-standing goats experienced severer injuries than the seated vertical-facing goats, and the injuries were lessened as the distance increased. The blast overpressure was consistent with these results. CONCLUSION: The main killing factors of the thermobaric bomb in the high-altitude environment were blast overpressure, blast wind propulsions and burn. The orientation and distances of the goats significantly affected the blast injury severity. These results may provide a research basis for diagnosing, treating and protecting against injuries from thermobaric explosions.

BACKGROUND: Globally, rotavirus is a leading cause of severe acute gastroenteritis among children aged under 5 years and has a significant economic cost. Currently, rotavirus vaccines are only included in the private market in China. This study aimed to assess the cost-benefit of including a three-dose rotavirus vaccine in China's National Immunization Program (NIP). METHODS: A decision tree Markov model was constructed to evaluate the cost-benefit of universal immunization with three doses of rotavirus vaccine for a 2019 birth cohort of Chinese children. Costs of the universal vaccination program included vaccine price, vaccine wastage, vaccine administration, and indirect costs. All costs were discounted at 3 % per year and converted from 2019 Chinese Yuan to 2019 USD using the 2019 exchange rate. RESULTS: For the 2019 birth cohort of Chinese infants, inclusion of RotaTeq in NIP was estimated to prevent 5,677,911 cases of rotavirus infection, with net savings of $1.1 billion in total societal costs. A cost of $17.55 per vaccine dose was the threshold at which inclusion of rotavirus vaccine in NIP would be cost-saving. CONCLUSIONS: Introducing rotavirus vaccine into the China NIP would have significant costs from a societal perspective at the current private market price.

Noroviruses (NoVs) are the primary cause of acute gastroenteritis worldwide. Histo-blood group antigens (HBGAs) are receptors or attachment factors that affect the prevalence and host susceptibility of NoVs. GII.6 NoV is one of the predominant genotypes in humans, which recognizes the type ABO secretor of HBGAs. However, the structural basis of GII.6 NoV's interaction with HBGAs receptors remains elusive. In this study, we investigated the binding features of the GII.6 strain to HBGAs using saliva- and glycan-ELISA assays and characterized the molecular basis of the GII.6 virus that recognizes H disaccharide. We showed that the GII.6 â€‹P domain recognized some A and O secretor's saliva samples, most B secretor's saliva samples, and H disaccharide antigen, but did not bind non-secretors' saliva. Further, we determined the crystal structures of GII.6 and its complex with H disaccharides at 1.7 â€‹Å, revealing that the P domain of GII.6 shares the conventional binding interface and mode of GII HBGAs. Single residue mutations at the GII.6-H binding sites could inhibit the binding of GII.6 to HBGAs, demonstrating that the interaction residues were crucial in maintaining NoV-glycan integrity. Finally, structural and sequence analyses showed that the major residues of the GII.6-H interaction were conserved among NoVs in the GII genogroup. Taken together, our study characterized the functional and structural features of GII.6 that allow it to interact with HBGAs, and shed light on NoV evolution, epidemiology, and anti-viral drug development.

ABSTRACT

@#Objective To knockout interferon alpha/beta receptor subunit 1(IFNAR1) gene in human colorectal adenocarcinoma cells Caco-2 using clustered regularly interspaced short palinmic repeats(CRISPR)/CRISPR-associated protein 9(Cas9)system to construct IFNAR1 knockout Caco-2 cell line.Methods The single guide RNA(sgRNA)sequence was designed to specifically recognize the exon region of IFNAR1 gene using CRISPR/Cas9 technology,and the LentiCRISPRv2-IFNAR1-sgRNA recombinant plasmid was constructed.Caco-2 cells were infected with the plasmid packaged by lentivirus and screened by puromycin resistance.The obtained monoclonal cell lines were cultured by limited dilution method,which were verified for the effect of IFNAR1 gene knockout by target gene sequencing and Western blot,and detected for the mRNA levels of CXC chemokine ligand 10(CXCL10)and interferon-stimulatd gene 20(ISG20)in IFNAR1knockout cells by adding exogenous IFNβ.Results Sequencing results of plasmid LentiCRISPRv2-IFNAR1-sgRNA showed that the insertion sites were all located at the sticky end of BsmBⅠenzyme digestion.Two IFNAR1 knockout monoclonal cell lines were obtained.The sequencing results showed that Caco-2-IFNAR1-KO1 had 5 bp deletion in the sixth exon of IFNAR1,and Caco-2-IFNAR1-KO2 had 18 bp deletion and 1 bp insertion in the seventh exon.Compared with wild-type Caco-2 cells,Caco-2-IFNAR1-KO1 and Caco-2-IFNAR1-KO2 cells showed no expression of IFNAR1 protein.Compared with no IFNβ stimulation,the mRNA levels of CXCL10 gene(t = 0.566 and 1.268 respectively,P>0.05)and ISG20 gene(t =1.522 and 1.733 respectively,P>0.05)in Caco-2-IFNAR1-KO1 and Caco-2-IFNAR1-KO2 cells stimulated by 50 ng/mL IFNβ showed no significant increase.While compared with those of wild-type Caco-2 cells,the mRNA levels of CXCL10gene(t = 6.763 and 6.777 respectively,P<0.05)and ISG20 gene(t = 5.664 and 5.65 respectively,P<0.05)in Caco-2-IFNAR1-KO1 and Caco-2-IFNAR1-KO2 cells decreased significantly under the stimulation of 50 ng/mL exogenous IFNβ.Conclusion Caco-2 cell line with IFNAR1 knockout was successfully constructed by using CRISPR/Cas9 technology,and the downstream molecules activated by IFNAR(interferon alpha/beta receptor)in this cell line were obviously inhibited,which provided a powerful tool for further exploration of the innate immune response and replication packaging mechanism of Caco-2 cells after virus infection.

ABSTRACT

RATIONALE: Previous clinical reports of patients with blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasm (BPDCN) in pregnancy are rare. PATIENT CONCERNS: The present study presents the case of 37-year-old women exhibiting third trimester with progressive painless, abdominal skin nodules. INTERVENTIONS AND OUTCOMES: A 37-year-old pregnant woman with BPDCN and partial placenta previa and racket-shaped placenta. After comprehensive evaluation, the pregnancy status ends at 37 weeks and 6 days by cesarean section of lower uterus and no abnormality in the newborn. LESSONS: Pregnant women diagnosed with BPDCN in the third trimester should terminate the pregnancy promptly for further treatment.

ABSTRACT

In this work, we demonstrated a novel and low-cost full-range optical coherence tomography (FROCT) method. In comparison with the off-pivot approach, which needs precise control of the deflecting distance and should be adjusted for different situations, our proposed method is more flexible without regulating the system itself. Different from the previous systems reported in the literature, which used a high-cost piezo-driven stage to introduce the phase modulation, our system utilizes a cost-effective voice coil motor for retrieving the complex-valued spectral signal. The complex-valued data, with a twofold increase in the accessible depth range, can be calculated using an algorithm based on the Hilbert transform and Dirac delta function. To confirm the effectivity of our method, both simulation and experiments were performed. In particular, for the in vivo experiment, we presented the FROCT result of a fingernail fold, demonstrating the availability of in vivo imaging. Since the key element of our system is a low-cost voice coil motor, which is flexible and more accessible for most of the clinics, we believe that it has great potential to be a clinical modality in the future.

ABSTRACT

Kawasaki disease (KD) is associated with allergy. As immunoglobulin E (IgE), a key element of allergic reactions, is related with coronary heart disease, we evaluated the serum total IgE levels, and investigated its clinical relevance in 339 children with KD. These patients were classified as high IgE group and normal IgE group according to the reference value of IgE. Serum IgE levels in the high group (279.76 ± 202.54 IU/mL) significantly increased compared with the normal group (5.51 ± 15.79 IU/mL) (p < 0.001). There were also no significant differences in the frequency of major clinical manifestation between the two groups. The number of patients who developed coronary artery lesions (CALs) was significantly higher in the high group (p = 0.004), and the serum levels of IgE were also markedly higher in the KD patients with CALs than in patients without CALs (p = 0.002). High total serum IgE was an independent prognostic for CALs in the multivariate analysis. In conclusion, serum IgE levels may be associated with CALs in children with KD.
