ABSTRACT

The authors analyse their experience in using screws and rods made of a biocompatible resolving high molecular polymer polyglycolid (produced in the USSR) in the surgical treatment of some kinds of fractures in 30 patients. The healing of the fractures took place within the normal terms in 27 patients, there was slow consolidation in 2 patients and a false joint in 1 patient. The resolution of conical rods takes place after 6 months, and that of the screws after 3 years, with complete restoration of the bone structure at the implantation site.
