ABSTRACT
Elektron Scientific-Manufacturing Association is one of the leading domestic designers, manufacturers, and suppliers of medical X-ray equipment. It holds a leading position in development of digital diagnostic equipment. Out of a small enterprise, Elektron Scientific-Manufacturing Association has developed into one of the leading domestic manufacturers of X-ray equipment. The goal of this work was to provide information about Elektron Scientific-Manufacturing Association, its history, currently available products, and developmental strategies.

The goal of this work was to discuss the problem of replacement of conventional devices for film roentgenography with modern digital X-ray image detectors. Several types of digital detectors are considered. The material presented in this work makes it possible to draw some conclusions on the prospects of development of X-ray detectors and transducers, their advantages and disadvantages.

Digital X-ray apparatuses have been designed to substitute for film fluorographs, which are noted for smaller radiation loads and high image quality. The paper describes one of such apparatuses, whose distinctive feature is the use of a low-noise CCD matrix having high-resolution matrix and a high performance luminescence screen. It outlines prospective variants of the use of the apparatus, describes the basic set supplied and its operation, gives its technical data and dimensions.

The comparative parameters and characteristics of X-ray image intensifiers made by some Russian and foreign firms are given. It is noted that the 612 X-ray apparatus (Russia) are not inferior to its foreign analogues and they may be used for the equipping of rotating holding tables of all modifications, made both in Russia and foreign countries.

The characteristics of colour TV system made on the basis of microscope MBI-15 with the use of imported details are presented. The system can be used for clinico-anatomical conferences, scientific lectures, in teaching, and allows to avoid laborious preparing of colour slides. The design made it possible to keep information (images) in form of figures (for example, by means of a personal computer) and video-cassettes. This may be used in computer morphometry and quantitative analysis in histochemistry.
