ABSTRACT

The results of biomechanical investigations of the central incisor having the formed root by mathematical modeling methods are presented. The centre of resistance of a tooth, the optimal horizontal forces of action and reaction were determined. The advantage of discontinuous forces due to amortization influence of periodontal ligament fluid was biomechanically proven. The recommendations which were given after experiments and mathematical modelling were used during orthodontic treatment of 30 patients (12-18 years) with anomalies of dental arches and occlusions by mechanically acting appliances and combined ones. At the end of the treatment 90.0% of the patients had physiological teeth angulation, 93.3% had the physiological torque. However using the removable single-jaw mechanically acted appliances had not lead to improvement of the first Angle-Endruce's key in 50.0% of the patients and to elimination of gaps between teeth in 23.4% of the patients.

ABSTRACT

A total of 132 teeth were treated in 105 children and adolescents aged 4, 5 to 15. All the patients were divided into 8 groups in accordance with the WHO classification; treatment policy and follow-up results over a period of 6 months to 5 years presented. Satisfactory remote results were attained in 91.8% of cases, in 4.9% complications occurred: pulp death and inflammatory processes, delayed formation of the roots of permanent teeth after a complete dislocation of deciduous ones. The authors enumerate the major components in comprehensive treatment providing the optimal conditions for formation of permanent teeth roots: removal of pulp irritation by special remineralizing dressings; splint application, if indicated; preservation of viability of at least the radical pulp, and in case of its death a timely removal thereof; creation of conditions for the tooth participation in mastication by replacing dental crown defects with fillings and dentures a month after injury.

ABSTRACT

Clinical follow-up of children aged 2 to 14 with tumors and tumor-like formations permitted diagnose secondary deformations of maxillary bones in 44. Symptomatology of these deformations had signs which distinguished intraosteally growing tumors from extraosseous ones localized in soft tissues adjacent to jaw bones. Good results were attained with the use of protective labial and buccal plates which not only shielded bone formations from tumor pressure before surgery but created a support for compressive dressing during sclerosing therapy of vascular tumors in children. Reconstructive and orthodontic measures, implantation of prostheses are necessary in the active period of growth and formation of maxillofacial and dental system after organ-destroying surgery for tumors and tumors-like formations in order to not only repair the anatomical shape but more so to optimize the conditions for normal functioning of the growing and forming maxillofacial and dental system of a child.

ABSTRACT

Patients were aged 6 to 15 years. The first group (197 patients) was treated without teeth extraction, 2nd group had teeth extracted. The treatment of dentition anomalies was effective both in decidual and permanent occlusion. The duration of treatment, number of visits per one definitive course were virtually equal in both groups. The authors believe teeth extraction expedient only in grade II constriction of dental arches, grade I to II construction of apical basis and medial teeth shift with space unavailable for restricted teeth at least for 1/2 crown width, and in absolute or relative macrodontia.

ABSTRACT

A total of 279 children aged 3 to 12 years were investigated. In 59 dentition defects were detected. These were located largely (39 patients) on a lower jaw. Dentoalveolar extension was found in 28 patients aged 5 to 8 years. Dentoalveolar extension was characterized as was the position and state of dental rudiments. Of 59 children put on a regular check-up list, in 28 preventive dentures were installed to avoid secondary deformation and dentomaxillary anomalies formation.
