ABSTRACT

Urinary incontinence (UI) is highly prevalent in the elderly population. There are several types that call for specific treatment. The three most common options in managing UI are behavioral modification programs, pharmacologic agents, and surgical intervention. In general, a nonsurgical approach is the preferred first choice, unless it already has been tried and failed or if the patient clearly wishes a more definitive surgical therapy.
