ABSTRACT
The bat fauna of the region of Botucatu, state of São Paulo, is composed of 36 species, belonging tofour families (Phyllostomidae, Molossidae, Vespertilionidae and Noctilionidae). The former is the most rich with18 known species. In the urban area, the most common species were Molossus molossus, Artibeus lituratus and Platyrrhinus lineatus, while in the rural area it was Desmodus rotundus. The rabies exam of bats from Botucatu region was positive just for bats of D. rotundus, M. molossus, A. lituratus and C. perspicillata.
