[Importance of MRI in the diagnosis of meniscal ossicle. Apropos of 2 cases]. / Intérêt de l'IRM dans le diagnostic d'ossicule méniscal. A propos de 2 cas.

PURPOSE OF THE STUDY: To determine the contribution of magnetic resonance (MR) imaging in the diagnosis of meniscal ossicle. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Two cases of meniscal ossicle were evaluated by plain radiography and MR imaging. Sagittal and coronal T1-weighted (400/15), proton density and T2-weighted (2,000/20,80) sequences were performed with 0.5 T magnet. RESULTS: Plain radiography revealed a triangular ossified body in the postero-medial aspect of the knee joint. MR images demonstrated that these ossicles were located within the posterior horn of the medial meniscus. The signal of these ossicles was isointense with that of bone marrow in all sequences. CONCLUSION: MR findings allow the diagnosis of meniscal ossicle and help to differentiate it from osteochondral loose body.

[Adamantinoma of the tibia. X-ray computed tomographic and MRI study. Apropos of a case]. / Adamantinome du tibia. Etude tomodensitométrique et par IRM. A propos d'un cas.

Adamantinoma of the long bones in a very rare tumor that mainly affects the tibia. Its diagnosis is difficult both radiologically, as the lesion appears as a poorly specific metaphyseal lacuna with or without periosteal reaction, and histologically. Its prognosis used to be guarded because of recurrence and of possible metastatic diffusion, but it has been considerably improved by wide resection with reconstruction. On the occasion of a new case, the authors describe the appearance observed with MRI and the merits of this examination for the preoperative assessment.

[Radiological consequences of lumbar disk surgery. Evaluation by MRI after 3 months]. / Conséquences radiologiques de la chirurgie discale lombaire. Evaluation par I.R.M. au 3e mois.

Radiologic effects of the surgery for lumbar disc herniation: a study with MRI at the end of the third post-operative month. The results of patients operated for lumbar disc herniation are good in 83%, fair in 10% and poor in 7. The poor results are considered to be the consequence of post operative fibrosis. A prospective study in 67 patients has been performed to study the post operative appearance of the operated lumbar spine, three months after surgery. 45 days after surgery the recovery of patients was assessed by the score of Staufer and Coventry and patients were entered in the study independently of their clinical state. The MRI was performed at the end of the third month postoperatively and patient recovery assessed according to the score of Senegas and Lavignolle. All the clinical and radiologic data were statistically analysed... the chi-square test, a p. value less than 0.05 was considered statistically non significant. The correlation between the clinical recovery and the MRI was realized.

[Intrathoracic chondrosarcoma arising at a rib in a patient with multiple exostoses]. / Chondrosarcome intrathoracique à point de départ costal chez un patient porteur d'une maladie des exostoses multiples.

A case of chondrosarcoma arising from the 7th left rib in a patient with multiple exostosis disease is reported. The initial CT scan feature is a purely intrathoracic mass with a parietal and pericardial junction and calcifications within the tumor. A review of the literature about the costal chondrosarcoma and their CT scan features is done and shows the uncommon initial aspect of this case.

[Metastasis of breast cancer in frontal meningioma]. / Localisation secondaire d'un cancer du sein dans un méningiome frontal.

The authors report a case of metastasis from a breast cancer located in a frontal meningioma. A review of the literature revealed 43 cases of primary intracranial tumours containing a secondary from an unrelated extracranial primary malignant tumour; in 34 of these cases the intracranial tumour invaded was a meningioma.
