ABSTRACT

AIM: To identify disease-causative mutations in families with congenital cataract. METHODS: Two Chinese families with autosomal-dominant congenital cataract (ADCC) were recruited and underwent comprehensive eye examinations. Gene panel next-generation sequencing of common pathogenic genes of congenital cataract was performed in the proband of each family. Sanger sequencing was used to valid the candidate gene mutations and sequence the other family members for co-segregation analysis. The effect of sequence changes on protein structure and function was predicted through bioinformatics analysis. Major intrinsic protein (MIP)-wildtype and MIP-G29R plasmids were constructed and microinjected into zebrafish single-cell stage embryos. Zebrafish embryonic lens phenotypes were screened using confocal microscopy. RESULTS: A novel heterozygous mutation (c.85G>A; p.G29R) in the MIP gene was identified in the proband of one family. A known heterozygous mutation (c.97C>T; p.R33C; rs864309693) in MIP was found in the proband of another family. In-silico prediction indicated that the novel mutation might affect the MIP protein function. Zebrafish embryonic lens was uniformly transparent in both wild-type PCS2+MIP and mutant PCS2+MIP. CONCLUSION: Two missense mutations in the MIP gene in Chinese cataract families are identified, and one of which is novel. These findings expand the genetic spectrum of MIP mutations associated with cataracts. The functional studies suggest that the novel MIP mutation might not be a gain-of-function but a loss-of-function mutation.

ABSTRACT

In order to investigate the failure modes and instability mechanism of fractured rock. Uniaxial compression tests were conducted on sandstone specimens with different dip angles. Based on rock energy dissipation theory and fractal theory, the energy evolution characteristics and fragmentation fractal characteristics in the process of deformation and failure of specimens were analyzed. The results show that the peak strength and elastic modulus of fractured rock mass are lower than those of intact samples, and both show an exponential increase with the increase of fracture dip angle. The energy evolution laws of different fracture specimens are roughly similar and can be classified into four stages based on the stress-strain curve: pressure-tight, elastic, plastic, and post-destructive. The total strain energy, elastic strain energy, and dissipated strain energy of the specimen at the peak stress point increased exponentially with crack inclination, and the dissipated strain energy and compressive strength conformed to a power function growth relationship. The distribution of the fragments after the failure of the fracture sample has fractal characteristics, and the fractal dimension increases with the increase of the fracture dip angle. In addition, the higher the compressive strength of the specimen, the greater the energy dissipation, the more serious the degree of fragmentation, and the greater the fractal dimension. The data fitting further shows that there is a power function relationship between the dissipated strain energy and the fractal dimension. The research results can provide a theoretical basis for the stability of rock mass engineering and structural deformation control.

BACKGROUND: Laparoscopic colorectal cancer surgery increases the risk of incisional hernia (IH) at the tumor extraction site. AIM: To investigate the incidence of IH at extraction sites following laparoscopic colorectal cancer surgery and identify the risk factors for IH incidence. METHODS: This study retrospectively analyzed the data of 1614 patients who underwent laparoscopic radical colorectal cancer surgery with tumor extraction through the abdominal wall at our center between January 2017 and December 2022. Differences in the incidence of postoperative IH at different extraction sites and the risk factors for IH incidence were investigated. RESULTS: Among the 1614 patients who underwent laparoscopic radical colorectal cancer surgery, 303 (18.8%), 923 (57.2%), 171 (10.6%), and 217 (13.4%) tumors were extracted through supraumbilical midline, infraumbilical midline, umbilical, and off-midline incisions. Of these, 52 patients developed IH in the abdominal wall, with an incidence of 3.2%. The incidence of postoperative IH was significantly higher in the off-midline incision group (8.8%) than in the middle incision groups [the supraumbilical midline (2.6%), infraumbilical midline (2.2%), and umbilical incision (2.9%) groups] (χ2 = 24.985; P < 0.05). Univariate analysis showed that IH occurrence was associated with age, obesity, sex, chronic cough, incision infection, and combined diabetes, anemia, and hypoproteinemia (P < 0.05). Similarly, multivariate analysis showed that off-midline incision, age, sex (female), obesity, incision infection, combined chronic cough, and hypoproteinemia were independent risk factors for IH at the site of laparoscopic colorectal cancer surgery (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: The incidence of postoperative IH differs between extraction sites for laparoscopic colorectal cancer surgery. The infraumbilical midline incision is associated with a lower hernia rate and is thus a suitable tumor extraction site.

ABSTRACT

Double-walled carbon nanotubes (DWCNTs) make up a unique class of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) that are particularly intriguing for scientific research and are promising candidates for technological applications. A more precise level of control and greater yields can be achieved via catalytic chemical vapor deposition (CCVD), which involves the breakdown of a carbonaceous gas over nanoparticles. The addition of molybdenum to the system can increase the selectivity with regard to the number of walls that exist in the obtained CNTs. As reported herein, we have designed and synthesized a novel Co-Mo-MOF, [Co(3-bpta)1.5(MoO4)]·H2O (where 3-bpta = N,N'-bis(3-pyridyl)terephthalamide), and employed the Co-Mo-MOF as a bimetallic catalyst precursor for the CCVD approach to prepare high-quality DWCNTs. The Co-Mo-MOF was employed after being calcined in N2 and H2 at 1100 °C and decomposing into CoO, CoMoO4, and MoO3. Existing CoMoO4 is unaltered after reduction in H2 at 1100 °C, while CoO and MoO3 are converted into Co0 and MoO2, and more CoMoO4 is created at the expense of Co0 and MoO2 without clearly defining agglomeration. Finally, the interaction between metallic Co particles and C2H4 is what initiates the formation of DWCNTs. In-depth discussion is provided in this paper regarding the mechanism underlying the high selectivity and activity of Co-Mo catalysts in regulating the development and structure of DWCNTs. The DWCNTs also offer excellence performance when they are used as water purification agents and as selective sorbents. This work opens a feasible way to use MOFs as a way to produce MWCNTs, thus blazing a new trail in the field of MOF-derived carbon-based materials.

BACKGROUND: Pacing is the most effective and dependable method for treating complete atrioventricular block (AVB). OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study is to investigate the use of His bundle pacing (HBP) in patients with atrioventricular block. METHODS: Patients who underwent HBP or right ventricular pacing (RVP) were enrolled and divided into two groups: the HBP group and the RVP group, respectively. We compared baseline clinical data, fluoroscopy duration, operation duration, pacing electrode parameters during the operation or follow-up, baseline QRS duration, and pacing QRS duration. RESULTS: HBP was attempted in 48 patients and was successful in 34 patients who were included in the HBP group. In addition, 30 RVP patients were included in the RVP group. Fluoroscopy duration and operation duration were significantly longer in the HBP group compared to the RVP group. Compared to the RVP group, the HBP group had a higher pacing threshold, a lower R wave amplitude, and a shorter pacing QRS duration. At 6 months of follow-up, the pacing threshold remained higher, the R wave amplitude was significantly lower, and the end-diastolic diameter of the left ventricle was smaller in the HBP group. CONCLUSION: HBP was safe and effective for atrioventricular block despite the longer fluoroscopy and operation duration in the HBP group when compared to the RVP group.

ABSTRACT

For some new mines, the utilization rate of tailings is not satisfactory when using unclassified tailings as backfill aggregate for cemented backfill. At the same time, with the progress of mineral processing technology, the tailings discharged by the concentrator gradually become finer. Therefore, cemented filling with fine-grained tailings as aggregate will become the development direction of filling technology in the future. In this paper, the feasibility of fine particle tailings backfill is studied by taking the particle tailings of-200 mesh as aggregate in Shaling gold mine. The calculation shows that the utilization rate of tailings is increased from 45.1% to 90.3% by using-200 mesh tailings as filling aggregate. The response surface central composite design method (RSM-CCD) was used to study the strength of backfill with alkali-activated cementitious material as binder by taking the mass concentration of backfill slurry and sand-binder ratio as input factors. The results show that the 28-day strength of the backfill with graded fine-grained tailings as filling aggregate can reach 5.41 MPa when the sand-binder ratio is 4, which can fully meet the needs of the mine for the strength of the backfill. The thickening test of-200 mesh fine particle tailings was carried out by static limit concentration test and dynamic thickening test. In the case of adding 35 g/t BASF 6920 non-ionic flocculant, the concentration of 64.74% tail mortar can reach 67.71% after 2 h of static thickening, and the concentration can reach 69.62% after 2 h of static thickening. The feeding speed of thickener should be controlled between 0.4 and 0.59 t/(m2 h). In this case, the underflow concentration of thickener is relatively high, which is 64.92-65.78%, and the solid content of overflow water is less than 164 ppm. The conventional full tailings thickening process was improved by using the design of high-efficiency deep cone thickener and vertical sand silo. The feasibility of fine-grained tailings as filling aggregate was demonstrated by combining the filling ratio test of fine-grained tailings, the data of thickening test and the improved thickening process. The research results can provide reference for other mines to use fine-grained tailings as filling aggregate to design filling system.

ABSTRACT

Symptoms of pelvic masses, elevated serum CA125 levels, massive ascites, and pleural effusion in female patients are usually associated with malignancy. Some benign ovarian tumors or other nonmalignant tumors may also produce similar symptoms, called Meigs syndrome or pseudo-Meigs' syndrome, which should be one of the differential diagnoses. However, there is an extremely rare form of SLE called pseudo-pseudo Meigs syndrome (PPMS), which may also present with the above symptoms, but is not associated with any of the tumors. In this paper, we report a case of a 47-year-old woman who presented with abdominal distention. The patient was found to have elevated serum CA125 levels to 182.9 U/mL before the operation. Her PET-CT suggested a large heterogeneous mass in the pelvis measuring 8.2 × 5.8 cm with a large amount of ascites. She was initially diagnosed with ovarian cancer and underwent exploratory laparotomy. Pathology of the surgical specimen revealed a uterine leiomyoma. Two months after discharge, the patient's ascites reappeared along with recurrent intestinal obstruction. After ascites and serological tests, she was eventually diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus and received systemic hormonal therapy.

ABSTRACT

Ovarian cancer is the most fatal of all female reproductive cancers. The fatality rate of OC is the highest among gynecological malignant tumors, and cytoreductive surgery is a common surgical procedure for patients with advanced ovarian cancer. To achieve satisfactory tumor reduction, intraoperative bowel surgery is often involved. Intestinal anastomosis is the traditional way to restore intestinal continuity, but the higher rate of postoperative complications still cannot be ignored. Transitory protective stoma can reduce the severity of postoperative complications and traumatic stress reaction and provide the opportunity for conservative treatment. But there are also many problems, such as stoma-related complications and the impact on social psychology. Therefore, it is essential to select appropriate patients according to the indications for the transitory protective stoma, and a customized postoperative care plan is needed specifically for the stoma population.

ABSTRACT

Meniscus is a wedge-shaped fibrocartilaginous tissue, playing important roles in maintaining joint stability and function. Meniscus injuries are difficult to heal and frequently progress into structural breakdown, which then leads to osteoarthritis. Regeneration of heterogeneous tissue engineering meniscus (TEM) continues to be a scientific and translational challenge. The morphology, tissue architecture, mechanical strength, and functional applications of the cultivated TEMs have not been able to meet clinical needs, which may due to the negligent attention on the importance of microenvironment in vitro and in vivo. Herein, we combined the 3D (three-dimensional)-printed gradient porous scaffolds, spatiotemporal partition release of growth factors, and anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant microenvironment regulation of Ac2-26 peptide to prepare a versatile meniscus composite scaffold with heterogeneous bionic structures, excellent biomechanical properties and anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant effects. By observing the results of cell activity and differentiation, and biomechanics under anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant microenvironments in vitro, we explored the effects of anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant microenvironments on construction of regional and functional heterogeneous TEM via the growth process regulation, with a view to cultivating a high-quality of TEM from bench to bedside.

BACKGROUND: This study aimed to observe the changes in the ocular surface after phacoemulsification in patients with age-related cataracts with respect to the addition of varying concentrations of hyaluronate. METHODS: Patients with dry eye syndrome were treated with 0.3% and 0.1% sodium hyaluronate eye drops to evaluate the clinical improvement in each treatment group. A total of 73 patients (91 eyes) with age-related cataracts suffering from dry eye syndrome after phacoemulsification were divided into treatment group A (30 eyes), undergoing conventional therapy and treatment with 0.3% sodium hyaluronate; treatment group B (31 eyes), undergoing conventional therapy and treatment with 0.1% sodium hyaluronate; and the control group (group C; 30 eyes), undergoing conventional therapy only. Two groups were given different concentrations of sodium hyaluronate eye drops four times a day (should be completed between 8 AM and 8 PM), one drop at a time. RESULTS: Seven days, 2 weeks, 1 month, and 2 months postoperatively, there were significant differences in the Schirmer I test (SIt), first noninvasive tear film break-up time (NIBUTf), average noninvasive tear film break-up time (NIBUTav), tear meniscus height (TMH), and irregularity (when the refractive force of different parts of different meridians on the same meridian is different. The main manifestation is that the two meridians on the anterior surface of the cornea do not show a 90-degree vertical distribution, which cannot be corrected by conventional astigmatism lenses) between the three groups (p < 0.05). When compared with group C, there were significant differences in the SIt, NIBUTf, NIBUTav, TMH, and irregularity of group A and group B (p < 0.05). When compared with group B, there were significant improvements in the SIt, NIBUTf, NIBUTav, and TMH in group A (p < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: In the early stage after phacoemulsification, the stability of the tear film is reduced. Adding sodium hyaluronate eye drops can restore tear film structure and improve corneal surface regularity, and a 0.3% solution of sodium hyaluronate eye drops is more effective than a 0.1% solution.

ABSTRACT

Biochar that is directly obtained by pyrolysis exhibits a low adsorption efficiency; furthermore, the process of recycling adsorbents is ineffective. To solve these problems, conventional chemical coprecipitation, sol-gel, multimetal multilayer loading and biomass pyrolysis coking processes have been integrated. After selecting specific components for structural design, a novel high-performance biochar adsorbent was obtained. The effects of the O2 concentration and temperature on the regeneration characteristics were explored. An isothermal regeneration method to repair the deactivated adsorbent in a specific atmosphere was proposed, and the optimal regeneration mode and conditions were determined. The microscopic characteristics of the regenerated samples were revealed along with the mechanism of Hg0 removal and regeneration by using temperature-programmed desorption technology and adsorption kinetics. The results show that doping multiple metals can reduce the pyrolysis reaction barrier of the modified biomass. On the modified surface of the sample, the doped metals formed aggregated oxides, and the resulting synergistic effect enhanced the oxidative activity of the biochar carriers and the threshold effect of Ce oxide. The optimal regeneration conditions (5% O2 and 600 °C) effectively coordinated the competitive relationship between the deep carbonization process and the adsorption/oxidation site repair process; in addition, these conditions provided outstanding structure-effect connections between the physico-chemical properties and Hg0 removal efficiency of the regenerated samples. Hg0 adsorption by the regenerated samples is a multilayer mass transfer process that involves the coupling of physical and chemical effects, and the surface adsorption sites play a leading role.

ABSTRACT

Ferroptosis plays a key role in aggravating the progression of spinal cord injury (SCI), but the specific mechanism remains unknown. In this study, we constructed a rat model of T10 SCI using a modified Allen method. We identified 48, 44, and 27 ferroptosis genes that were differentially expressed at 1, 3, and 7 days after SCI induction. Compared with the sham group and other SCI subgroups, the subgroup at 1 day after SCI showed increased expression of the ferroptosis marker acyl-CoA synthetase long-chain family member 4 and the oxidative stress marker malondialdehyde in the injured spinal cord while glutathione in the injured spinal cord was lower. These findings with our bioinformatics results suggested that 1 day after SCI was the important period of ferroptosis progression. Bioinformatics analysis identified the following top ten hub ferroptosis genes in the subgroup at 1 day after SCI: STAT3, JUN, TLR4, ATF3, HMOX1, MAPK1, MAPK9, PTGS2, VEGFA, and RELA. Real-time polymerase chain reaction on rat spinal cord tissue confirmed that STAT3, JUN, TLR4, ATF3, HMOX1, PTGS2, and RELA mRNA levels were up-regulated and VEGFA, MAPK1 and MAPK9 mRNA levels were down-regulated. Ten potential compounds were predicted using the DSigDB database as potential drugs or molecules targeting ferroptosis to repair SCI. We also constructed a ferroptosis-related mRNA-miRNA-lncRNA network in SCI that included 66 lncRNAs, 10 miRNAs, and 12 genes. Our results help further the understanding of the mechanism underlying ferroptosis in SCI.

ABSTRACT

Chinese medicine (CM) is an important resource for human life understanding and discovery of drugs. However, due to the unclear pharmacological mechanism caused by unclear target, research and international promotion of many active components have made little progress in the past decades of years. CM is mainly composed of multi-ingredients with multi-targets. The identification of targets of multiple active components and the weight analysis of multiple targets in a specific pathological environment, that is, the determination of the most important target is the main obstacle to the mechanism clarification and thus hinders its internationalization. In this review, the main approach to target identification and network pharmacology were summarized. And BIBm (Bayesian inference modeling), a powerful method for drug target identification and key pathway determination was introduced. We aim to provide a new scientific basis and ideas for the development and international promotion of new drugs based on CM.

BACKGROUND: Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is the primary treatment for removing common bile duct (CBD) stones. The risk factors for CBD stone recurrence after ERCP have been discussed for many years. However, the influence of CBD morphology has never been noticed. AIM: To evaluate CBD morphology and other predictors affecting CBD stone recurrence in average patients. METHODS: A retrospective analysis of 502 CBD stone patients who underwent successful therapeutic ERCP for stone extraction at our centre from February 2020 to January 2021 was conducted. CBD morphology and other predictors affecting CBD stone recurrence were examined by univariate analysis and multivariate logistic regression analysis. RESULTS: CBD morphology (P < 0.01), CBD diameter ≥ 1.5 cm [odds ratio (OR) = 2.20, 95%CI: 1.08-4.46, P = 0.03], and endoscopic biliary sphincterotomy with balloon dilation (ESBD) (OR = 0.35, 95%CI: 0.17-0.75, P < 0.01) are three independent risk factors for CBD stone recurrence. Furthermore, the recurrence rate of patients with the S type was 6.61-fold that of patients with the straight type (OR = 6.61, 95%CI: 2.61-16.77, P < 0.01). The recurrence rate of patients with the polyline type was 2.45-fold that of patients with the straight type (OR = 2.45, 95%CI: 1.14-5.26, P = 0.02). The recurrence rate of S type patients was 2.70-fold that of patients with the polyline type (OR = 2.70, 95%CI: 1.08-6.73, P = 0.03). Compared with no-ESBD, ESBD could decrease the risk of recurrence. CONCLUSION: CBD diameter ≥ 1.5 cm and CBD morphology, especially S type and polyline type, were associated with increased recurrence of CBD stones. In addition, ESBD was related to decreased recurrence. Patients with these risk factors should undergo periodic surveillance and standard prophylactic therapy.

Since the meniscus is an important stabilizing structure of the knee joint and has a significant role in load-bearing and shock absorption, so the complete structural and functional reconstructions of the teared menisci should be done not only after partial meniscectomy but also post total meniscectomy. So far, animal experiments and good clinical practice have showed that TMAT after total meniscectomy has partially solved the problem of structural and functional reconstructions after total meniscectomy. However, partial meniscectomy will also lead to accelerated knee degeneration, and its proportion is much higher than that of patients with total meniscectomy. Herein, the feasibility of PMAT after partial meniscectomy was investigated for the first time by using the 40% posterior horn meniscectomy model of the medial meniscus in Beagle dogs, and also for the first time, TMAT group and the total meniscectomy group were used as control groups. Compared with the TMAT, the transcriptomics evaluation, scanning electron microscope observation, histological regeneration and structure, biomechanical property, inflammation environment, and the knee function post PMAT were more similar to that of normal meniscus was first reported. This study provides a PMAT scheme with clinical translational value for the complete structural and functional reconstruction of the patients with partial meniscectomy and fills the gap in the field of teared meniscus therapy on the basis of quite well clinical applications of the meniscus repair and the TMAT.

ABSTRACT

Zebrafish are an effective vertebrate model to study the mechanisms underlying recovery after spinal cord injury. The subacute phase after spinal cord injury is critical to the recovery of neurological function, which involves tissue bridging and axon regeneration. In this study, we found that zebrafish spontaneously recovered 44% of their swimming ability within the subacute phase (2 weeks) after spinal cord injury. During this period, we identified 7762 differentially expressed genes in spinal cord tissue: 2950 were up-regulated and 4812 were down-regulated. These differentially expressed genes were primarily concentrated in the biological processes of the respiratory chain, axon regeneration, and cell-component morphogenesis. The genes were also mostly involved in the regulation of metabolic pathways, the cell cycle, and gene-regulation pathways. We verified the gene expression of two differentially expressed genes, clasp2 up-regulation and h1m down-regulation, in zebrafish spinal cord tissue in vitro. Pathway enrichment analysis revealed that up-regulated clasp2 functions similarly to microtubule-associated protein, which is responsible for axon extension regulated by microtubules. Down-regulated h1m controls endogenous stem cell differentiation after spinal cord injury. This study provides new candidate genes, clasp2 and h1m, as potential therapeutic intervention targets for spinal cord injury repair by neuroregeneration. ABSTRACT

Acupoint-symptom relationship in CHENG Dan-an's Note About Treatise on Cold-Attack was analyzed based on complex network, acupoint names and indications were extracted from the book, which provided ideas and methods for promoting the modernization of acupuncture and moxibustion by using complex network technology. A total of 112 acupoints in 201 acupuncture prescriptions were included, and the total frequency of acupoints was 880 times, forming 42 034 acupoint pairs. In terms of network indexes, compared with the complex network of comprehensive acupuncture books, such as Meridian and Acupoint Science, Zhenjiu Dacheng, Acupuncture A and B Meridians formed based on the same mathematical method, the complex network model for CHENG Dan-an's Note About Treatise on Cold-Attack shows more typical small world effect, which is characterized by higher network density (6.762) and shorter average path length (1.064). This phenomenon may be related to the tongue and pulse which added the link between acupoints. For the node indexes, the analysis of topological indexes such as Page Rank shows that acupoints represented by Dazhui (GV 14) has higher compatibility value in the treatment of exogenous diseases, which further demonstrates the clinical value of eigenvector centrality in guiding intelligent compatibility of points.

ABSTRACT

Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is a heterogeneous subtype of breast cancer with poor prognosis. Here, we present a peptide-drug conjugate (PDC)─bradykinin-potentiating peptide-paclitaxel (BPP-PTX) conjugate─synthesized by conjugating BPP9a with PTX via a succinyl linker. BPP-PTX targets the angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) on TNBC cells. ACE was found to be ectopically expressed in two TNBC cell lines but was absent in both the receptor-positive breast cancer cell line and healthy kidney cell line. Overexpression, knockdown, and competitive inhibition experiments demonstrated ACE-mediated cytotoxicity of BPP-PTX. In vivo, ACE-positive tumors were enriched with BPP-PTX, with the PDC being better tolerated than plain PTX. Compared with plain PTX, BPP-PTX exhibited improved tumor-suppressive effects in MDA-MB-468 xenografted female nude mice. Meanwhile, BPP-PTX resulted in less body weight loss and white blood cell reduction toxicity. These results collectively imply the novelty, efficacy, and low-toxicity profile of BPP-PTX as a potential therapeutic for ACE-positive TNBC.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is the primary choice for removing common bile duct (CBD) stones in Billroth II anatomy patients. The recurrence of CBD stones is still a challenging problem. AIM: To evaluate CBD morphology and other predictors affecting CBD stone recurrence. METHODS: A retrospective case-control analysis was performed on 138 CBD stones patients with a history of Billroth II gastrectomy, who underwent therapeutic ERCP for stone extraction at our center from January 2011 to October 2020. CBD morphology and other predictors affecting CBD stone recurrence were examined by univariate analysis and multivariate logistic regression analysis. RESULTS: CBD morphology (P < 0.01) and CBD diameter ≥ 1.5 cm (odds ratio [OR] = 6.15, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.87-20.24, P < 0.01) were the two independent risk factors. In multivariate analysis, the recurrence rate of patients with S type was 16.79 times that of patients with straight type (OR = 16.79, 95%CI: 4.26-66.09, P < 0.01), the recurrence rate of patients with polyline type was 4.97 times that of patients with straight type (OR = 4.97, 95%CI: 1.42-17.38, P = 0.01), and the recurrence rate of S type patients was 3.38 times that of patients with polyline type (OR = 3.38, 95%CI: 1.07-10.72, P = 0.04). CONCLUSION: CBD morphology, especially S type and polyline type, is associated with increased recurrence of CBD stones in Billroth II anatomy patients.
