ABSTRACT
Data about US asylum seekers' health are lacking. We assessed the medical literature by performing a bibliometric scoping review of the literature from 1946 to 2020. Of 114 articles identified, 48 (42.1%) were empirical studies and 66 (57.9%) were editorials or commentaries. Empirical studies focused on mental health (60.42%), African asylees (45.83%). Editorials and commentaries focused on detention and medicolegal processes (31.82% and 30.3%). Empirical data on the health of US asylum seekers are limited. Research expansion requires increased commitment, funding, and participatory engagement of asylees. This limited representation in the scientific literature can impact their care and health system preparedness.

Sexual violence is a global crisis. Forensic evaluations are critical for obtaining evidence and increasing the likelihood of accessing justice, as many cases fail due to lack of evidence or poor evidence. In some countries, only board-certified forensic specialists are authorized to conduct forensic evaluations. However, the high number of sexual violence cases coupled with the shortage of forensic physicians make that restriction a fundamental impediment to a rights-based response to sexual violence crimes. Governments and regulatory bodies should expand the pool of those capable of conducting forensic sexual violence evaluations by partnering with clinicians of different specialties and facilitating their training.

The palladium-catalyzed oxidative desymmetrization of meso dibenzoates yields γ-benzoyloxy cycloalkenones in good yields and with excellent levels of enantioselectivity. These compounds serve as precursors to a broad range of substituted cycloalkenones, including well-established synthetic building blocks and elaborated cycloalkanone derivatives. The ability to prepare both enantiomers of the oxidative desymmetrization products enables a unified strategy toward stereochemically diverse epoxyquinoid natural products.
