[Isoenzymes of transferases in serum from diphtheria patients]. / Izofermenty transferaz v syvorotke krovi bol'nykh difteriei.

AIM: Investigation of serum spectrum of isoenzymes AlAT, AsAT, GGT in diphtheria in adults. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The serum spectrum of cytoplasmic and mitochondrial isoenzymes AlAT, AsAT, GGT were studied in 12 bacterium carriers and 65 patients with diphtheria. Quite original evidence has been obtained on mechanism of hyperenzymemia. RESULTS: Diphtheria is associated with enhanced activity of cytoplasmic isoenzymes in correlation with intoxication severity. Spectrum of isoenzymes AlAT and especially GGT shifted to the side of mitochondrial fractions. There were no statistically significant differences in the activity and spectrum of isoenzymes in myocarditis and in its absence. In clinical recovery the spectrum of isoenzyme activity remained changed. CONCLUSION: It is suggested that dysisoenzymemia is related to active role of hepatocytes in utilization of diphtheria toxin, that carriers are not healthy people as hyperenzymemia is associated with morphological changes in the myocardium.

[Blood serum glycoproteins in diphtheria in adults]. / Glikoproteidy syvorotki krovi pri difterii u vzroslykh.

Bacterial carriers and diphtheria patients were examined for blood concentration of total glycoproteins measured by protein-bound hexoses and of fuco- and sialoglycoproteins. Marked changes were registered in glycoprotein serum spectrum in bacterial carriers and intoxication-specific changes in diphtheria patients. These changes were induced by active mesenchymal response of the liver. The role of glycoproteins in diphtheria pathogenesis is discussed.

[Determination of sialic acids in the urine and feces of children]. / Opredelenie sialovykh kislot v moche i isprazhnenooakh detei.

Hess's method for measurement of the blood serum sialic acids has been adapted to measurements thereof in the urine and feces. The modification is based on ethanol sedimentation of urinary and fecal proteins. Sialic acids are measured in the protein precipitate by the unified Hess's procedure. The examinations have revealed differences in the levels and excretion of sialic acids with feces in healthy infants and those suffering from acute intestinal infections.

[Several features and mechanisms of lesions of the cardiovascular system in a severe course of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome]. / Nekotorye osobennosti i zakonomernosti porazheniia serdechno-sosudistoi sistemy pri tiazhelom techenii gemorragicheskoi likhoradki s pochechnym sindromom.

Peculiarities of lesions of the cardiovascular system were studied in 332 patients with a grave course of hemorrhagic fever with the renal syndrome. Deep cardiovascular disorders manifesting themselves in low or high arterial pressure, ECG changes, hemodynamic disorders in the greater and lesser circulation, disorder of the morphological structure of the myocardium and small vessel walls were revealed.
